LV6548 Generator Firmware Update

- A few customers have been reporting that the LV6548, is sensitive to generator charging, especially with non-inverter type generators.
This firmware is designed to make the charging less sensitive to generator anomalies.
BEWARE, only flash with the U1 version that matches the firmware, else your inverter will be useless.
If you have purchased yours from watts247, we have the firmware for you.
This will not work on units from other suppliers.!! (EG4 and Sungold etc)
Some settings to try:
01 to USB
03 to APL
09 to 60Hz
10 to 120V
11 - Start low from 2A, then 10A etc until you hear the generator take strain. Two or more inverters becomes more complicated, Each inverter will pull from its configured phase (L1 and L2), be sure to balance your phases, so you don't overload a phase from the generator.
12 - 50 ish V (If set to SBU, charging will commence if battery voltage is less than setting 12, and will stop only after reaching setting 13 )
13 - 57V or FUL (notice, charging will stop when the battery is unable to absorb the sum of amps as set in setting 11 --sum, as in multiple inverters charging off the same generator--, lowering the charging amps at the end will allow the battery to charge a little more towards the end)
16 - SNU - this is a MUST! (SNU = Solar & Utility is allowed to charge the battery)
NOTE: if the inverter pair is configured for split phase, you will need a 240V generator (L1 and L2)
a 120V generator will ONLY work on inverters configured to run in Single Phase .
Trick. for 2 inverters in split phase, you can temporarily configure them to run in SIG mode , as two independent inverters, and supply AC 120V to one or both of the Inverter Inputs. Note this is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing, but in a pinch its a work-around
Thank you Ian for providing much useful info for LV6548 and solar assistant install and operation. Also tips and tricks. These inverters are still good little units although now will be using EG4 chargeverter for charging and a Charge controller mppt to access a greater PV input. Keep up the good work.
Interesting. Now if only we can get them to "fix" the high idle usage of the new LV6548V...

If your inverter was bought early 2022, you may need a 3Kohm resistor in series with the white wire "TX" as shown by lithium Solar. if you need a 3k resistor module, we have a few left (models bought since july 2022 will be just fine without the resistor)

Make sure 16 is set to SNU, which allows Solar and Utility/Generator to charge the battery
I cannot get setting #10 to keep the default 120V AC. It changes back to 110V AC setting. Something we are missing? Firmware issue?
Other then the firmware update can you show this on the growatt 3000tl lvm-es? Growatt in split phase need AC input from both legs, how would this work with just one generator? I have a Honda 2200 and a non inverter construction grade generator, I would like to be able to use one of them as a back up
Are you running the LV6548's in split phase and able to charge with that generator?
I've tried and haven't been able to get it to work.
I've read somewhere that splitting a 240v plug from the generator L1 would go to P1 utility and L2 would go to P2 utility. I haven't done this yet, but this route sounds logical.

If not using generator, can we still run old firmware? Or should we do it regardless?
Unless you have an issue with your inverters you basically never need to update the firmware.
