I had my steyr M9A1 fitted with a Romeo1 reflex and the re-acquisition of the target is phenomenal and terribly accurate resulting to faster rounds down range (and on target too!). I opted not to have the Romeo1 milled into the slide but rather bolted on to allay fears on hitting any vital parts underneath - so far, after 1,000 rounds, the site still holds true and firm (perhaps due to the locktite). it is also fitted with a surefire x400 tac light. the usability and durability is unbelievable since the gun has been with me for over 10 years dishing out over 8,000 rounds without breakage. all it needs is some TLC after use and proper storage. it churns out FMJs, Teflon, hallow points and even armor piercing rounds. only thing you have to watch out for are those under loaded bullets and those which are overused - this results into failure to battery and eject. hope I can likewise post some pics... I also find the grip more manageable than my beretta M9A1 so i prefer the steyr over my beretta for carry as well. cheers and enjoy the pistol!

Who did the milling on your slide? I'd like to have mine done as well but can't seem to find anyone offering this service for Steyr's.

One of my favorite design features of the A1s is the futuristic styling. This paint job compliments that perfectly. Almost like you’ve been gunfighting on another planet and shot an alien point blank. Very cool.

I've had a Trijicon RMR, milled in, on my M9A1 since about 2012 or so. We started the RMR milling at the back of the OEM rear sight dovetail, and it ends JUST before the extractor without exposing the trigger bearing. No plate was needed, the RMR screws directly to the slide. The front dovetail is the same as a XD/SIG front sight, and we were able to fit a Glock rear sight dovetail behind the trigger bearing, with the rearmost edge of the sight directly even with the back edge of the slide. Dude, subbed. I have a Steyr M9 as well! I didn't get trapezoid sights with mine though :C Its a great shooting gun, definitely underrated, SUPER low bore axis (for those who think thats all that matters). Wow... a custom titanium plate, this gunsmith is awesome! Good insight for heating the polymer.

      thank you for the comment!
ya the gunsmith is incredible. he also does everything by hand... makes his own jigs and machines it himself. no automation. he literally can make or fix anything haha.

thank you sir! i like your channel! ya it was a lot of work but my gunsmith and i worked on it together so he didnt charge me for the planning, designing, and blueprint work.. he just charged me as if he already knew how to do it. just tricky dealing with the ball bearing and limited space.

just an update... had my steyr M9A1 fitted with the surefire XC1 and it is as compact as it could be - sacrificing lumens though, but it now is as lean as ever. so far, the romeo1 sites still hold zero after a couple of hundred rounds. wish I know how to attach the picture here... enjoy the piece guys - this gun is now gaining popularity specially in the US. however, in my part of the world, we could not even get a magazine nor parts - not that it needs the parts anyways (just the extra magazines).

I like the stock trap irons. Not changing them. Fast combat site pic IMO. Took some getting used to, but I’m a fan. The more I shoot it, the more I like.

Theres been a couple of us to mount red dots on Steyrs such as the RMR, Doctor, Burris. Your'e the first I've seen to mount a Shield RMS though. Also the first to give it an alien paint job haha.
When I Cerakoted my Steyr I had the same issue with the magwell warping. The trick is to wrap painting tape around the magazine until its a really tight fit then reheat it in the oven. Anyway I love seeing people's Steyr projects. Good job man

John Warren thank you for the comment!
I did some searching online and only saw the dovetail mounted red dots, nice to hear others are working with them too. The RMS is still my favorite red dot due to its size and clarity of glass. Much better than my RMR and vortex venom. Just have to modify the battery tab a little.

its neponset valley gunsmith in norwood, ma. the man is incredible and can literally make anything, but he is not the quickest. (because he does everything by hand and creates the jigs himself, hence why the craftsmanship is so good) if you mention the zombie green m9a1 with RMS on it, he'll know what youre talking about.

mdd1963 seeing as how they don't come painted or milled for red dots and I had the work done, yes, by the very definition this is a custom gun.
