Wow on my exam I was dividing by 2 lmao. And then if there was a remainder, write a 1, then truncated the remainder to highest whole number less than the decimal. I missed the octal to binary day 😂
There's no such thing as 89(8), because Octal number system starts with 0 to 7 then immediately began counting to 10 skipping the 8s and 9s in its numeral system.
I just wrote a program in Java to convert an octal to binary in this way and I gotta say it had quite a few edge cases :D at least I learned a lot of things
I tried this with 48 and it didnt work. Is it because I used a digit greater that 5 as the unit digit? no sum I get can work. or do I need to input a 8421 setup for the lower digit?
I really wanted to know why should exclude 0 from 11 101 i expected it to be 011 101 kindly explain further of what is going to happen or what will it affect if 0 is included.
quick question, so I have an exam on Wednesday and I was just curious as to why you used the "421" as a way of getting your answer. You might have said and my apologies for asking gif you had, I just need a little clearing up that's all.

What if we want to change a number that is 89(8) to binary? how can we do this if the maximum number we can get from the "4 2 1" method is 7?
There's no such thing as 89(8), because Octal number system starts with 0 to 7 then immediately began counting to 10 skipping the 8s and 9s in its numeral system.
Sir in octal to binary conversation what if first digit is 9 because if we do total it would be total only 7 this is my confusion
In octal system there is only upto 7 so there cannot be more than 7
Legends watch this before exam
I get clear conception from this video.
Loved the formula, amazing
geez you have every conversion, thank you
If octal number is end with 9 then this formula is fit there or not? If it is fit then how??

i wonder with this number in which zero is in middle how can i do it to convert it into binary e.g 1023

What is the number in the octal system had a decimal??... like a question I saw in my text book.
421 added together is 7.. What if the numbers has 8? What should i do
its an octal number which goes up to 7 so there is no 8
if number is 8 then it is not an octal number , this will be decimal or hexadecimal number for this you will use 4 bits
Thanks a lot for the info!

DUDE YOU ARE A GENIUS
hi, can i ask why using 4,2,1 ? how about 3,5,6,7?
Charlotte Chee 4, 2, 1 corresponds to 2^2, 2^1, 2^0
why did you choose 4, 2, and 1 ? i did not get this point well!
Thanks ❤,,
It really helps me in college 💙
U are the best teacher
how would i do 3104.76, specifically the 0.76 part?
what if have a number 908
there won't be 9 on octal number
What if the question includes the number 0
Then 0 becomes 000 ig
1+1=2
What if we have large number like 8
You will never have a number greater than 7 because the octal system having base 8 allows numbers from 0 to 7 (both inclusive) only.
And yet I'm supposed to memorize all of this when in the future I can always find it here I need a cheat sheet for this test. Lol
literally a genius.
