    good day sir. thank u for the great video. may i ask regarding the seismic weights. why is it that only floor loads are considered and how about the loads of the walls and stairs? hope to hear from you. TIA!

    • @CivilBlackBox
      @CivilBlackBox  7 місяців тому

      This was just an example problem. Hence, in order to simplify the manual calculations only floor loads were considered. In real life cases all the loads from beams, stairs, etc. will be considered. Great question btw.

    In clause 7.6 of IS 1893 part 1, it is mentioned that equivalent static method is applicable for regular buildings with height less than 15m in seismic zone 2. In our problem the seismic zone is 5. So should we solve this by dynamic analysis method?

    hi, in general, when you apply a lateral seismic load should you also consider vertical acceleration within the same load case (i.e increasing the W of the structure)?

    • @CivilBlackBox

    Thank you sir, this vidoes are on which code? ASCE?

    • @CivilBlackBox
      @CivilBlackBox  3 роки тому

      The calculations are based upon IS 1893 code (Indian Standard Code) for Earthquake design. That being said, the EQ design is almost common throughout the world with minor changes. Hence, if you are using ASCE you will find a lot of similarities to IS codes.

    Hello Sir, thank you very much. For W the seismic weight of the building, you give the weight of each floor plus the weight of the roof. What happened with the weight of columns? Are they not included in the calculation for W or they are included in the weight of each floor?

    • @CivilBlackBox
      @CivilBlackBox  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Christian. The problem statement was kept simple to make the manual calculations easy. In the real world example all the dead loads on the building is to be taken during calculation of Seismic Weight W which will include the weight of columns and beams and any other dead load imposed upon the structure. This example was however devoid of those factors just to minimize manual calculation on my part. Hope that helps. 🙂
