My family is from Bucharest Romania. I was born in Germany and moved to the U.S when I was a baby. I never learned the language and I regret is as my Grandma doesn’t speak the best English. Now at 25 I can finally understand The language and speak a pretty good amount. I will be surprising my Grandma this winter and now be able to have hours of conversation with her!

Edit 2: Her friend told me she liked me :) but half term holiday now so I won't see her for a while :( Edit 3: Half term has ended and I saw her today and I told her I missed her :3 Edit 4: We sit next to eachother in tech 😊 Edit 4: Her friend says she doesnt like me but I kinda saw it coming after a few subtle hints that she didnt like me.. so I didnt feel that sad. I could've sworn on my life that she liked me though... oh well, good things never last Edit 5: I don't really like anyone as of today.. I'm a good friend with her brother and he told me that she thinks I'm cute and she likes how I'm learning Romanian but she doesnt want a relationship right now.. even if she changed her mind I would decline now that I'm over her.. thanks for the support guys and sorry for sounding like a 10 year old girl whos obsessed with a guy 😂

How hard a language is depends on what languages you already know from the same linguistic family. Being South African I presume you know Afrikaans and English, both of which are Germanic languages. That makes it easier for you to learn other Germanic languages like Dutch or German. So a Romance/Latin language like Romanian is harder since it has little in common with the other languages that you know. If you knew Spanish, French, Portuguese or especially Italian, it would be far easier to learn Romanian.
@@alinbarba1418 I'm still thinking of learning Latin and/or French to climb up to Romanian as the more complicated version. The depth of the structure and complexity in Romanian is amazing, everything makes perfect sense and connects in depth, yet, it's actually relatively simple once you know the rules and how those patterns flow but if you don't, then you're like a thief trying to crack an encryption of a multiple thousand years old language that has evolved into the today's Romanian (from Latin). It's difficult but i personally value it on top of every language out there, barely manages to dodge 1 that was made to directly speak to nature, no other language stands a chance for me in front of the magic of Romanian. :)
It is hard. Best things you can learn in romanian are the letters beacuse most words are pronunced how you write it. It is easier if you know other latin languages like french or spanish

I’m also hoping to give back as a clinical mental health therapist!! Wow! How cool to see the similarities!!

I wish I spoke Romanian :( I used to be fluent in Spanish, but haven’t been exposed to much besides my family. Even then, I only ever speak Spanish to my mother. I’ve forgotten a lot, so now my Spanish is broken. I’m currently taking French at my high school. It’s a beautiful language, but I’md rather learn Romanian. I think it’s even more beautiful because it’s a Romance language which always sound beautiful, but it’s Slavic influence makes is even more than it already is.

Anyway generally we use it at last, this is a more ancient form of speaking. In fact romanian and italian might be same language. In Otranto strait there are still about 150.000 romanians. Separation between romanians and sicilians started in 1054 with the great religious schism! 🇮🇹🇷🇴

I don't get it with the Irish baby (is that some odd reference to a bottle of whiskey?) but she should speak in română with you and you should speak in português with her. This is how you learn.

My Daddy is Romanian. But we have no contact. My parents gets divorced, Thats why. When i was a kid he talked to me. I could speak also. Now i can't. Sometimes there are comeing some words outside from me. It makes me happy. I wish i could speak the language, it makes me feeling to be home. It makes me feeling to be near with my Dad. Worse luck, he died very early. All i have are some nice memories

Worse luck, he died very early. All i have are some nice memories
