Just watched the troubleshooting videos for the stator and the regulator/rectifier. Now to the shop to check those components on my project bike - a 1978 Yamaha XS750E. One thought regarding the spark plug wrench. There should be an original Honda Tool Kit somewhere on the bike unless it has been misplaced over the years. These kits always include a spark plug wrench.
Yes, you're correct, there was an OEM tool kit. The kit for my specific bike was lost prior to my ownership. I do have the original tool kit pouch however.
Your videos are amazing, I just bought one of these bikes and I’m struggling to learn how to work on bikes as well as figure out where to start. You make very clear and helpful videos and I appreciate your content I really hope it continues!!!
wow! thank you so very much Mr. Monk!! I have finally finished my move, and with a few more adjustments to the garage i'll be diving into filling and continuing on the GL1100. Im' thrilled to be recieving a delivery of a cx500 myself this morning! excited to watch more of your videos
Perhaps, but I worry about it being too easy to cause a short between two separate phases that way. I feel I have more control this way. Thanks for watching!
17:23 hopefully at least a few bulbs have survived! I am in a similar situation and I am terrified of replacing the alternator 😱. Why the hell did they put it in the middle of the engine?
I am guessing they felt justified in the location because the engine removal is on the easier side considering most motorcycles. But not that easy! Thanks for watching!
Anyway I've just finished about 2000 km trip on my GL500 and the problem appears just after that at home so in all that mess there is a good timing ; )
I went with a R/R unit from RMStator. amzn.to/3OfPOS1 I also considered purchasing an OEM unit used from eBay but those are all 40 years old at this point. Thanks for watching!

Thanks! I've kept up UMTV since 2014 and don't have any plans for stopping. Thanks for your kind words and for watching.

You're very welcome. Keep up the good work.
Would it have been easier to take the plug loose for the test with the red/white and test from the "inside" of the plug? Just wondering. Thanks!!!!

@@swietymikolajbb Oh wow! You were lucky in that!
What regulator rectifier did youbgo with?

I should mention there was a little modification required with the new RMStator unit.
Quick question how can I perform this test on my regulator rectifier if my engine is out of the frame ? How can I test it alone ?
SM would be the only place to find instructions on that. Need a volt/ohm meter that measures electrical resistance. Thanks for watching.
If I ever ask for that plug wrench back, shoot me. That means I bought another K bike.
Or you bought a CX.
