Turned out well Jon. Great fun project that looks good on display. Your design works well :) It's always a bummer when those tiny drills break. Did someone say "rework" ? Now for the next contender. Cheers Rob
Interesting concept Jon. It would need to be tensioned strongly or the coffee may spill, if it wobbles:) I saw a video where a guy made a bench seat version. Did'nt work very well as there was too much unsupported length and leverage. I will be interested to see what you come up with. Cheers Rob@@thehobbymachinistnz
Indeed a cool project, Well done John. I have literally made nothing but things to make things with or make it easier to make things with, and I am running out of that sort of stuff. I have been on the lookout for something different and challenge-accepted, although it will be maybe a month before it shows up, as I have a couple of videos in the vault already. I also have a mountain of old Aluminium castings to use up, so this will be perfect to use some more of that. 👍
@@thehobbymachinistnz I have a design in my head already, but it will be a couple of weeks before I can get started on it, and maybe a month before the video sees the light of day. In the project I'm currently working on, I give you a shout-out and credit for inspiring it, is it ok with you if I use a small part of one of your videos or at a minimum a screenshot in my video ??
I think the drill bits are ok. I suspect there were two other issues. Firstly, the 1-2mm collet may not have clamped down on the 1mm drill bit properly. It is getting close it its limitation. Secondly, I think the aluminium is a bit stringy and the 1.5mm got a bot gummed up causing the really short drill bit to break. I got there in the end though.
That's sweet! Ya know.... It's just the right size that if it had a clear glass top it would serve as a coffee cup or beer glass stand. And thus be prominent on display at the computer station. No?
Gday John, that looks bloody awesome, I get worried when I complete a job and there’s no broken taps, drills or endmills, great job mate, cheers
Thanks for watching Matty.

Thanks for your inspiration Rob. At some stage I would like to scale up and build a tensegrity coffee table. That would be good to have in the lounge.

It will be good to see how your one comes out. Let me know if you need any measurements or other info. Thanks for watching.

@@MyMiniHomeWorkshop Sure, no problem using some video and/or screenshots in your video.
Magic 🧙♂ Nice project!
Thanks for watching.
Seems like you need higher quality drill-bits, Jonny. Great project though. Interesting video to watch.

Yes, it could be done. Although, it may be better if it was built with a flat top for the glass to sit properly.
Beer me. Nice work!
Thank you.
