I remember the reunion as if it happend yesterday!! It was a great time for the band, and for me personally. We didn''t have the internet or anything else described as "smart" back then, so I learned about the reunion from rumours. We didn't have any "UA-cam-ish" info channels at the time. I got to know about the reunion from a friend of mine who had overheard a conversation in a musicstore between a musician, who heard it while he was in the US, and an employee at the store.
They're a wonderful band, yep ! Would love to see Jon and Ritchie together again, even with classical music. -They could form a great little acoustic duo there. Some years ago there was this thing that became known around the net as Jon Lord's Dream, something about him once mentioning getting everyone together for a one night concert with all DP family members on the same stage. At the Albert Hall, presumably. ;) So far still a dream only.
They were younger here than i am now ! Im 44. Remember the original singer in Deep Purple Rod Evans ? He had a great voice. Rod hasnt been heard of in public since about 1980, i have just made something about him on here if anyone wants to see it ? Its in my recent uploads from August 2019, or just type in search bar above.....Where is Rod Evans
I saw them on that perfect strangers world tour in NZ .Richie had a hissy fit and didn't come back on stage for smoke on the water .I lost some of my hearing that night.
4:47 Very impressive how Ian is actually defending Ritchie Blackmore here... so... strange because they hate each other but it seems that Ian was kinda annoyed by that question
No pudieron repetir lo hecho en los 70, todos cometieron sus correspondientes errores pero siempre serán una de las mejores bandas de rock de la historia.
Anyway, reclaimerReclaimer, it's good to see them again as they were back in '84, before cell phones and the internet:-) What a great band! They had their dodgy moments during the 80s because of "smokin', drinkin' and messin' 'round with women", but all in all.... Great band! And what's even better, they still are:-)
The reunion year(s) was a fantastic time! The Perfect Strangers album came out really great (one of my favourite DP albums), and it seemed like the band had a lot of fun during the first year and a half. We didn't have internet at the time(!), so I soacked up all the news and rumours via magazines and.....well, rumours among the fans:-) Those were actually good times. I really enjoy todays "easy world", but when I grew up you had to work for what you knew. It's sort of too easy today....
notice blackmores not with the band even for the press conference interviews he really didnt want to be anywhere near Ian Gillan they were the original Axl and Slash LOL
It's almost too easy today yes, having known both worlds now it seemed more fun back then where today's easier access makes everything a little bit less fun also since it's all about constant info and no real search necessary anymore. Thus no real anticipation experienced either. I think it shows in many later/current artists' songwriting too, somehow it's very lazy when growing up in today's world of cell phones and complacency. Makes a lot of modern rock music less interesting unfortunately.
Riazor1370 Ironically, Coverdals re-recorded ad releases stuff from is Purple days this year while Deep Purple with Gillan will have another new album shortly. Who didn't make any progress, you say ?
Where is Ritchie? Ian always knows. Ritchie refuses to do endorsements whenever he can. Ian will speak on Ritchie's behalf most of the time on camera, something they keep almost always completely hidden from everyone at times, even their own kind, as in other true artists/gods and yes, even Satan at times, due to the powers that be.
R.I.P. Jon...the Greatest Rock Keyboardist eveeer...we´ll miss you all over the world, but your music will still blow our heads forever
I seen Deep Purple in concert and they were great!
PERFECT STRANGERS is the greatest comeback album ever.

Jon Lord is the guy! :) God rest his soul
R.I.P Jon Lord; a great man, a great musician.

What a gem of a clip.

OF SHE
how refreshing is to see simple, good looking men, smoking casually on the screen, nothing like this you can see today, shame
That line is from "A Gypsy's Kiss" from their reunion album "Perfect Strangers":-)

Jon Lord!!! R.I.P :'-(

Saw the PERFECT STRANGERS tour at the Cleveland Coliseum. It doesn't exist anymore. 😔

hot Ian
Jon Lord: "I'll rip your lungs out through your nose." hahaha! Don't mess with this guy!
Boy George "Burn"
Gillan's response to Jon is "I'll Rip Your Spine Out", and that is a Gillan (band) song title:-)

Supper bandota !!
Almost. Rod Steward.
Where's Blackmore?
Only rarely gave on-camera interviews back in the day, especially for this era hard to find.
Who's the presenter? Looks like Ron Wood's brother. I like him, he's really into this.
Daniel Richler.
Ironically, that Dave Coverdale which was made a smash hit comeback in 80's. Purple stuck in their old style hard rock and did'nt make any progress.

Perfect Strangers was a great album, I don't know what material you listen to.
isn't this ronny wood? :P
is that jeff beck ?
Stop. Wait a second. He heard rumors of Iron Butterfly and Yes getting back together? When the heck was this filmed?
0:29 name of this song please!
Fool For Your Loving by Whitesnake.
reclaimerReclaimer thank you so much!!!
Great! If you're a fan of psychedelic rock, you may enjoy my original music! Please visit my channel and let me know what you think. Thanks!
Ritchie's nowhere to be seen; did he not like to hang out with the rest of the guys?
mircea1910 was thinking exactly same. Blackmore shines by not being there
He did not like to hang out with Ian Gillan ;-)
@@clausappel8086 well you right

I don't know why John was getting mad at Ian. He's the one that was making a joke at him first.
