Hi Pete, I was reading that there is a smart tempo function that can detect the tempo of an audio clip. I’d love to see a tutorial around that as I don’t know how to do that at the moment, thanks!
Thanks a lot for your videos ! I already learned a lot with them but here there’s a problem. Loops do change tempo but not the blue tracks where I’ve recorded my keyboard.
Great video. Do you know if is there any way to set a "relative tempo". For example, if I want to play the song at 50% speed or 70% speed while recording, without the need to touch the tempo track?
@@PeteJohnsMusic Mmm... I fear you didn't got me. The idea is without touching the tempo track. For example, in the case that the song has multple tempo changes on it, it would be impossible to be precise in turning the tempo at 30% or 75%. There is software like Guitar Pro that has that option. It would help to record fast MIDI passages and minimize quantization errors (it takes time to rectify note per note)
Cubase has it too, but is necessary to make an indirect process (via Project Logical Editor). In guitar pro there is a direct and easiest way to set it (beside the tempo it says 30% or "Whole note x 0.3") and that's all
Another great feature. I sometimes use tempo changes in subtle ways - one example being a tiny (1 or 2 BPM) increases for the choruses. I’ve also used constant slight tempo changes throughout a song to give things a more human feel. Great explanation as ever Pete, thank you.
Pete we’ve come a long way dude, used to have try to hack ways to work around GB not even having a master track 😂 Apple finally looking after mobile producers.
Brilliant and easy to understand videos. Question about tempo changes... I often create tracks for practice and I typically output versions at 90%, 80% etc. Can I do this on the iPad version?
I’m going to use this for a current project, but should I record the vocals first or can I do the vocals first without it compromising the vocal quality?
As long as the vocals are recorded at the correct tempos you’ll be fine. Any time you’re changing the pitch or tempo of an audio file you will have quality issues.
Hey there. Yes, it will change your MIDI and virtual tracks but not audio track. You can try something like this. ua-cam.com/video/VbEzhygQqgw/v-deo.htmlsi=PEGUMVx0DpqsyX1w
That’s really strange? Maybe you’ve imported some files? Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
@@PeteJohnsMusic thanks for the reply, the main good thing about the software being subscription based is that if Apple wants to keep getting paid they’ll provide very good support, they called me less then a min after putting in the request (they can see my screen too) so the problem turned out to be that I have the note adder (pencil icon) in the piano roll selected and my simple deselecting them I got the global tracks back… thanks for offing the help and I think I’ll still join the discord if that’s alright as I’m new to that software and would love people to bounce ideas off of, have a good holiday

Amazing! Keep up bringing more Logic Pro for iPad videos, Pete.
Shall do! 👍😎
Keep ‘em coming. Thanks Pete.
There will be many many more!
That tempo track is a game changer for sure. Another great informative video Pete 👍
Cheers my friend.
This is amazing! Logic on iPad will be a great pathway for someone who wants to use the Mac version in the future.
Yup. Will be great for many folks.
Hi Pete, I was reading that there is a smart tempo function that can detect the tempo of an audio clip. I’d love to see a tutorial around that as I don’t know how to do that at the moment, thanks!
Yup. It’s on the works and coming soon. I wanted to cover the basic first.
Thanks a lot for your videos ! I already learned a lot with them but here there’s a problem. Loops do change tempo but not the blue tracks where I’ve recorded my keyboard.
Yup. Unfortunately that takes a little more effort to use the tempo matching to stretch your own recordings. Http://logicipad.com/

I think you’d just need to change the tempo to 50% and then change it back again. logicipad.com/

Excellent stuff! Yes, subtle dynamics can really make a song pop.
Before TikTok, Pete Johns mastered the short video. Still going strong Pete! Great stuff.
Haha! Thanks my friend. THey're getting even shorter as I get older. I know what I'm looking for in a tutorial and try to deliver the same.
Great video Pete! Do you have any Courses? On electronic music and beat making for iPad Logic Users? Thank you!
Hey there. I did have a GarageBand Beginners course but nothing that’s current sorry. Heaps of videos in the playlists here. Http://logicipad.com/
Thank you Pete!!!!
Thank YOU Mat for being awesome.
Pete we’ve come a long way dude, used to have try to hack ways to work around GB not even having a master track 😂 Apple finally looking after mobile producers.
Hahah! True that. Is it weird that I will miss the hacks and workarounds? 🤔😀
This feature is handy for prog metal songs indeed. Would also be useful for Rush covers.
Haha! Totally.
This would be so useful for many trad and Morris tunes. In fact, trying your tempo hack now in GB. As you say, it’s clunky
Yup. I think it’s nearly time for you Jo.
Thank you 😊

Hmmmm…. I’m not sure? But possibly not? The iPad version doesn’t have all. The options of the Mac version.
Very cool! Thanks Pete…
Welcome my bearish friend.
This is awesome! Thank you Pete, I never would have looked at that bc I’m dumb 😂 Can you use it on individual instruments?
Hey there. So it’s a project wide setting but you generally want all your instruments at the same tempo at the same time.
I’m going to use this for a current project, but should I record the vocals first or can I do the vocals first without it compromising the vocal quality?
As long as the vocals are recorded at the correct tempos you’ll be fine. Any time you’re changing the pitch or tempo of an audio file you will have quality issues.
Hi, for the audio tracks is it necessary to activate the flex function so it’s speed can be changed? Thanks 😊
Hey there. Yes, if you want to use the best marching and stretch options.
@@PeteJohnsMusic thanks a lot
I like this logic pro ipad teaching, but it lacks an automatic time signature, I hope it will be updated tomorrow, Studio live today
Hmmmm… you can set multiple time signatures with the track right now?

do you know why logic pro keeps losing third party apps but when i deinstall it it finds the again
Not sure sorry? Haven’t come across this personally. Might be a bug in the first version. Maybe reach out to Apple.
Where is the tempo meter volume/changer from a click to a clap
There’s metronome options in the settings if you set the metronome to “advanced” mode.
