The opening is so DKC, everything from the guitar samples to the flag at the end. And the first stage music is perhaps one of the most amazing tracks in all of SNES gaming. David Wise is truly one of the most talented composers in the industry.
One of the toughest games for SNES along with R-Type 3 and Tin Tin in Tibet! Completing this game for the first time as a kid made me felt as a gaming god!
BennyUrquidez86 Gaming gods in the Mid 90's were the ones who could beat Kintaro and Motaro from MK 2 & 3 respectively. M. Bison was far easier than those meatgrinders of bosses!
One thing i forgot: The design of the first level is really great to goof around with a friend (also because it IS the first level, it's nice to have quick access to a stage). Whenever we have a chance of playing this game, we always play Pigball: One player lift a pig and throws it to the other player who have to hit that pig in the air. I couldn't believe that both of us would have so much fun for hours at first.
The work environment ultimately changed at Rare, and it's staff, mainly due to bigger budgets. This is why you don't see Rare taking risks with their creativity and instead are subjected to Kinect software, however what they do now still makes them money. Though Rare has gone through drastic changes, they survived. As for the former employees; now that there's a healthy indie environment (the kickstarter era if you will) small groups of former Rare employees are developing software for Wii U.
Sorta, you have the option to play where you can't harm each other or the option to be able to harm each other. (You know, in case we liked it the first time, which I didn't) unfortunately, if one player dies, they still both have to restart the level. So that hasn't changed.
I remember playing this back in the 90's as a child and fail alot on most of those levels. Finally, finish that evil queen for good without too many retrys. Music gave me some groove to beat her for sure on the final stage.
Ah yes, the infamous Battletoads. I'd heard a lot about its difficulty level, but I had no idea the graphics were so AMAZING! I didn't realize the SNES was capable of things like that!
Battletoads, a game a i love but just can't beat. The raillevel with that rat chasing you is as far I can get. He gets me every damn time and because of that I'm now capable of playing all the levels before that without losing a life. This Parazzing guy must have played this game for a very long time to get this good at it.
I had it as a kid, it was instant love. Around 7 years later I finally have beaten it. What a glorious day it was... Plus, it triggered my neverending wish of having a Virtual Reality Console.
i was pretty sure i could pass the game today after seeing your vid, i probably wont even try. its best to leave some memories as they are! tnaks for the vid!
Well during development, Rare decided to abandoned production on these planned NES titles, including a 8-bit conversion of the SNES/Genesis game "Pro Quarterback", and a 3rd "RC Pro-Am" game, in favor of doing their own hardware for the SNES, and thus Brendan Gunn was recruited to be the lead programmer for "Battletoads in Battlemaniacs". The SNES game is a best seller, it was followed by "Battletoads Double Dragon" and then came the Rareware era with "Donkey Kong Country" and the rest is history.
One of the most recognized Rare employees was composer David Wise (back to the main subject here as he composed the music for this game) David is currently working on the soundtrack for Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, a Wii U game coming in February.
This is not a conversion/remake of Battletoads by any means, it's a different game altogether. Sure, most stages mirror those of Battletoads, but still it's another game in its own. The plot is not the same, the characters aren't (Rash is still present, but you have Pimple instead of Zitz, and in fact, Rash is now Player 2 instead of Player 1), and the enemies are not either.
Is is just me, or do Battletoads game always sound subpar on BOTH the 16-bit consoles? I find that the Battletoads for NES and Battletoads Arcade have FAR superior soundtracks.
The fourth Battletoads game (although it was released concurrently at the same time with the NES version of Battletoads/Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team) is essentially a retake on many of the levels are enhanced or remixed versions of levels from of the original Battletoads game with updated visuals, featuring similar mechanics and gameplay styles.
I never could figure out how to move on that damn shredder level. I was so proud when I finally beat the jet ski level and breezed through the snakes, only to have my sanity crushed by that damn blade level.
I remember it being way better. Amazing what a couple of decades will do to one's perspective. I wonder what I'll think about 2015's games in 2035? Wow... amazing to contemplate.
Not Nintendo's fault: Rare felt Nintendo were too controlling, and by 2002 Nintendo a year to decide on weather they should shell out $400 million to buy the rest of Rare's stock. All of Rare's former employees regret leaving Nintendo: when Microsoft took over, Rare enjoyed the change at first, however they slowly began to realize that when Nintendo overlooked things they were being steered in the proper direction, whereas Microsoft were too inexperienced in video games at that time.
So, uh...what happened to the girl and zitz? they get captured in the intro but they are never mentioned in the game again; too bad we will never know, the game appears to be horribly rushed out *Rare* has some serious shit to answer
i use to won this game too but dont know where it went. yes the bike levels are hard on all the toad games but once you beatit your like"bout dam time" and well worth it! the music was so dam awesome on their games, even when you pause lol.
They seemed to have died twice on the last level and edited out the deaths. I have no issue with that but they probably should have said so in the description.
I had never played the SNES version either. It's actually disappointing how short it is, even the brain monster from the introduction is nowhere to be seen in the actual game. It's hard to understand how Rare felt it was acceptable to release such an unsatisfying product, especially with such amazing graphics and music.
I need another Battletoads game with only Abobo (Double Dragon) as the main villain, avenging the death of the evil Dark Queen by 2 high school girls whose names are Kyoko and Misako (aka the River City Girls), causing Silas Volkmire to become kinda angry at him for letting the girls throw the evil Dark Queen into a vat of green acid, which they headbutt her into the green acid pool after they trick her into running straight towards them, making her die in the green acid pool.
I still prefer Battletoads and Double Dragon (Sega Genesis), best version this game. This snes version, have so much battle races, and few fights. I like see punches, kicks, halters, not a spaceship competition.
as i was a kid , i thought that after the hoverbike-stage was more some beaten up-stages.but now im feel a little dissapointed about this game but its surely a great game. =D i hope some great genius make a new battletoads game because i miss this series and it should be got a big comeback too like other awesome old game-franchises.T-T
no manches eres bien chingon jugando este juego NUNCA HE CONOCIDO A NADIEN QUE JUEGE A SI MAS QUE YOESTA SUPER ESE GUEGO ME GUSTARIA JUGARLO CON GENTE QUE LE GUSTE ESTE JUEGO MI FACEBOOK ES JUAN EDUARDO CORTES NAVA
Actually, I was referring to the original on both counts more than this game. (Someone else has a video of the original, but I do wonder if cubex55 will play it too) Was it for the NES and not the SNES? Sometimes I get confused like that.
I remember this game... one of the HARDEST games I have ever played...bike level was a total killer..
The opening is so DKC, everything from the guitar samples to the flag at the end. And the first stage music is perhaps one of the most amazing tracks in all of SNES gaming. David Wise is truly one of the most talented composers in the industry.
Such a kick ass soundtrack for a awesome game!
Unbelievable walkthrough. Thank you, World of Longplays.
The Snakes level is so cool man, this effin hard ass game..
32:55 Dat Load State.
This is the Dark Souls from the 90ties! But MUCH MORE difficult!
basically almost every action games in 90's were dark souls of its time.
Don't let the Dark Souls fanbase hear you say that. To them those games are the Holy Grail when it comes to difficult video games
One of the toughest games for SNES along with R-Type 3 and Tin Tin in
Tibet! Completing this game for the first time as a kid made me felt as a
gaming god!
BennyUrquidez86 Gaming gods in the Mid 90's were the ones who could beat Kintaro and Motaro from MK 2 & 3 respectively. M. Bison was far easier than those meatgrinders of bosses!
Those hit sound effects are just so satisfying.
My childhood is complete now. Thank you!
I couldn't believe that both of us would have so much fun for hours at first.
so what the hell happened to ZIT and the girl? That was a question unanswerd
Forgets its own plot halfway through :D
I never realized how short this game actually was.
The work environment ultimately changed at Rare, and it's staff, mainly due to bigger budgets. She's beautiful.
@@julianoholanda8298 not it the remake.
The nostalgy is strong with this one :)
I shamefully admit I never quite got around to finishing it legit thou xD
This seems like more or less a remake of the original game. just fewer levels and a difficulty that's somewhat reasonable.
Jay Nicks Yeah. Tested. A difficulty is decrease. It's slowly. Haha
Jay Nicks Seems to incorporate elements from Battletoads Arcade as well.
Sorta, you have the option to play where you can't harm each other or the option to be able to harm each other. (You know, in case we liked it the first time, which I didn't) unfortunately, if one player dies, they still both have to restart the level. So that hasn't changed.
***** well, you still have the option to harm the other player.
A Mode: You're able to hurt each other
B Mode: You're not able to hurt each other.
Reasonable? Lol
I love this Videogame lifelong!
Guess what, this game is now on switch online
I remember playing this back in the 90's as a child and fail
alot on most of those levels. Finally, finish that evil queen
for good without too many retrys. Music gave me some
groove to beat her for sure on the final stage.
The gameplay, the music, the difficulty...everything about this game's amazing!! xDD
Ah yes, the infamous Battletoads. I'd heard a lot about its difficulty level, but I had no idea the graphics were so AMAZING! I didn't realize the SNES was capable of things like that!
That floating wall right next to the ramp you should miss on the speedbike is brutal.
Battletoads, a game a i love but just can't beat.
The raillevel with that rat chasing you is as far I can get.
He gets me every damn time and because of that I'm now capable of playing all the levels before that without losing a life. This Parazzing guy must have played this game for a very long time to get this good at it.
Man the music for this game is great
Best game and the amazing play!
I had it as a kid, it was instant love.
Around 7 years later I finally have beaten it.
What a glorious day it was...
Plus, it triggered my neverending wish of having a Virtual Reality Console.
this game gives u chance on the 3rd level to get extra lives because it knew damn well that you were gonna need em on the next stage lmao.
i was pretty sure i could pass the game today after seeing your vid, i probably wont even try. its best to leave some memories as they are! tnaks for the vid!
one of the hardest game ever, thx to the emulator saves !
I found this one easy compared to the NES version.
Very cool scrolling-FX!!!
what cool music this game has!!!!
Love all battletoads Games 👌
Well during development, Rare decided to abandoned production on these planned NES titles, including a 8-bit conversion of the SNES/Genesis game "Pro Quarterback", and a 3rd "RC Pro-Am" game, in favor of doing their own hardware for the SNES, and thus Brendan Gunn was recruited to be the lead programmer for "Battletoads in Battlemaniacs". I kind of wish this was the one they included in rare replay.
omg that level where the rats chasing you with the saw.,.. my most hated level.. harder than the snake level
To this day I'm still looking for answers on how to beat it!!! I dont get it lol
You have my admiration for beating this game :)
One of the most recognized Rare employees was composer David Wise (back to the main subject here as he composed the music for this game) David is currently working on the soundtrack for Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, a Wii U game coming in February.
you play very well, 90 years in this game was pretty famous, there's some very good songs.
That's the most insane game of History.
We need a new Battletoads game
Yeah but would it be as good as these?
Best battel toad game ever

Coming next year to Xbox One.
Your wish came true!
just managed to pre-order this at GAME. can't freaking wait
I never could figure out how to move on that damn shredder level. I was so proud when I finally beat the jet ski level and breezed through the snakes, only to have my sanity crushed by that damn blade level.
@CAWGregoryBlack
Just their hands and bodies morphing into cartoony looking weapons. I miss the 'Toads.
after watching this for sure i would have never beat that game.....thanks for posting.
wow, Rare really were one of the kings of 16 bit music.
imagine the turbo tunnels level represented the battletoads speeding through the dark queen mistress' colon to escape
1 and 2 levels music is awesome!
Back in the Days
I remember it being way better. Amazing what a couple of decades will do to one's perspective. I wonder what I'll think about 2015's games in 2035? Wow... amazing to contemplate.
+James Gowan if you be yet alive...
Lucas Silva If I make it, I'll be 70.
ok, just don´t do drugs
Lucas Silva Ambien for the win!
A movie about the Battletoads would be great!
The days of my childhood :')
I only beat this game once after nine years of effort. I was so disappointed at the ending. I think we're forgetting some people guys...
Not Nintendo's fault: Rare felt Nintendo were too controlling, and by 2002 Nintendo a year to decide on weather they should shell out $400 million to buy the rest of Rare's stock. it's a 16-bits game. this is the only thing in which this game surpasses the original.

*Rare* has some serious shit to answer
those fucking battlejerks
Zits came back with the other toads and chased after Sig
Zits comes back at end in helicopter
EPIC MUSIC!
i use to won this game too but dont know where it went. yes the bike levels are hard on all the toad games but once you beatit your like"bout dam time" and well worth it! the music was so dam awesome on their games, even when you pause lol.
This game is better than the original
The bike level gets me every time ;)
Better than Sega Master system.
Earl Duran Well...yeah. That's a given.
Well something would be terribly wrong with developers if they couldnt top 8bit systems version...
Never ever got pass the roller coaster. Always died in the start
We're the battle toads! wha-wha-wha! We're the Battle Toads!
It will be awesome if the Battletoads appear in the new Killer Instinct game for the Xbox One as secret/hidden characters
The Dark Queen around 9:50 looks like Michael Jackson with boobs.
haha, exactly
Basically the SNES Version of Battletoads.
32:56 Was that a cut I see?
IS THIS FAKE?
whoo is fake?
They seemed to have died twice on the last level and edited out the deaths. I have no issue with that but they probably should have said so in the description.
Seeing this for the first time now, I'd never had guessed the SNES version is just a watered-down version of the NES Battletoads.
I had never played the SNES version either. It's actually disappointing how short it is, even the brain monster from the introduction is nowhere to be seen in the actual game. It's hard to understand how Rare felt it was acceptable to release such an unsatisfying product, especially with such amazing graphics and music.

These games had the best punching sfx lol
I still prefer Battletoads and Double Dragon (Sega Genesis), best version this game. This snes version, have so much battle races, and few fights. I like see punches, kicks, halters, not a spaceship competition.
that was one damn long bonus level...
as i was a kid , i thought that after the hoverbike-stage was more some beaten up-stages.but now im feel a little dissapointed about this game but its surely a great game. =D
i hope some great genius make a new battletoads game because i miss this series and it should be got a big comeback too like other awesome old game-franchises.T-T
Damn wind tunnel level in those damn vehicles. Fuck that. Why would they do that.
Im playing thru this right now n was stuck there thanks for the help XD
@igortroy The Battletoads don't use weapons though while the Turtles use weapons all the time.
esse cara e muito bom.........
I couldn't get past the handle bar level, they made it way too hard...loved it though
2019, who is playing ? :-)
battletoads
So many broken snes controllers this game made me rage so hard!
no manches eres bien chingon jugando este juego NUNCA HE CONOCIDO A NADIEN QUE JUEGE A SI MAS QUE YOESTA SUPER ESE GUEGO ME GUSTARIA JUGARLO CON GENTE QUE LE GUSTE ESTE JUEGO MI FACEBOOK ES JUAN EDUARDO CORTES NAVA
The last time I played this game I was like 8... all I have to say is, fuck that jet ski level lol
8:45
It sounds like someone is being spanked really hard, lol
That ending tho I'm kinda glad I never finished it I never could bea
I got to stage 5 but burned several lives figuring out how to control the bike, and I still don't know how.
Lol any luck? I know it's been awhile. I'm still trying too!! And I have a sub goal for my stream!! Gotta play this drunk till i beat it all. Rip....
Actually, I was referring to the original on both counts more than this game. (Someone else has a video of the original, but I do wonder if cubex55 will play it too) Was it for the NES and not the SNES? Sometimes I get confused like that.
damn, you're really good at this game. though it does look easier than the original.
still...great job.
