Gotta nip those nubs bud, lol. The Tusk guards are great. The point where they mount to bar looks a lot better than the busters and there's definitely more coverage on the plastic too.
I agree with your evaluation of quality and value for Tusk products from Rocky Mountain. I had a lot of Tusk products on my '18 KLR including the D Sport hand guards. Before I even put a mile on that bike I tipped it off the big work lift. Landed right on the throttle side guard. All it did was leave a scuff mark. Good stuff.
That's awesome! I stuck my old Barkbusters from my gen2 on the new KLR the other day and I'm sort of regretting it lol. They work but don't look or feel as high quality as the Tusks.
Great video, thanks for posting, I'm putting the same handlebar setup as you on my 24', but using CR High bend as I'm 6'2". Using a hacksaw on the throttle tube works a lot easier and safer. Take care😁👍
The Tdub looks great @SwankyCat! Excellent video as well. I think the Tusk products are made well, especially for the price. Sometimes they lack the refinement of a more expensive brand, but hey, you're paying half. Unfortunately, I had such a terrible experience with the Rocky Mountain ATV customer service folks last time, I've moved on.
Super clean! I haven't been disappointed by any of the tusk products I've used so far. That said, I also really like barkbusters. I have them on my Berg and would probably switch out my stockers on my Beemer over to them. That third person footage is psychedelic, haha.
tightening the bolts down fixes the angles on the handguards...my bro has the same set on his xt250, crank them down, the aluminum will bend, no vice needed lol
I don't know if will be a factor in your application, but on my Tiger, I was getting a lot of mirror vibration. My solution was adding rubber washers under the bolts at the bar end and where they attach to the bar in the center. Didn't eliminate it, but cut way down. As far as Tusk quality, they are equal to most high dollar stuff, at half the price.
I'm happy with my Tusk D-Flex hand-guards (non-pro version). Another score are my Adventure Mirrors by Doubletake. They can take a beating on narrow, over-grown trails and can fold away easily if you really need to. Recommended.
@@SwankyCatProductions The Ram mount can be used as a camera mount too. Bonus for you filmer-guys. The T-dub version needs an adapter for the reverse-thread. I bought mine direct from the company.
Like the hand guards matches the TW perfect. I’ve always been a bark buster guy too but the Tusk ones look sharp and super strong. Love the chicken voice! Always wondered how they sounded- haha
Thanks Jim, I think so too. Yeah I expected less or equal quality since the price is so much lower but quite the opposite! Not all of them sound like that, just Dinah! 🤣
OHHHHHH OKAAAAY THEN!!!! No concerns about that clutch lever!! 🤣I think I do actually see the glare and or reflection off the lens protector on this one. Just leave dropping the bike to me and you’ll be fine!! Haha
Wow, the front end of your TDub looks so much better now, with the headlight, fender mount and hand guards. I really like the looks of it! You should look at doing the 70mm piston upgrade, a noticeable seat of the pants upgrade in power. Keep up the good work! P.S. Is your speedo disconnected?
Thanks Jeff! I really like how it turned out too! Oh yeah? Huh maybe I'll have to look into that after the KLR gets finished. Uuuuh I think it's still hooked up, was it not working??? Lol
Great vids! Curious, have you changed out your front tire, ... if so, what'd you go with? You deff seem to have plenty of traction with whatever you're using. Also, is that a 2001 tdub? Thx! (Go Pack!!)
Thanks! It's a 2003 and I I've got a Kenda K752... or something like that. I went with the biggest size they have and wouldn't recommend it. It looks cool but with the extra plys and bigger lugs its a bit clunky. Going to try a Shinko 241 next.
@@SwankyCatProductions Worked great, Had a little trouble with my wires and had to length them out a little. Used Enduro Engineering Evolution Aluminum Debris Deflectors. They are like c shaped so no cable trouble.. Have tusk on my crf250l rally and they are great.
The Doubletake mirrors are perfect. They always work and are always out of the way. I’ve got them on my Tdub

Oh yah! Haha. Yeah idk how they can be half the price... Actually idk how Barkbusters cost so much for how simple they are.
Solid mods! Thanks for the install and review video. 😀
Thank you!

I'm glad it was helpful! Haha yeah anything's better than what I did here. Most recently I used a wide diameter uni-bit. Best way I've tried yet!

Looks fantastic swanky! Can't wait to see what you do to the KLR.
Thanks Bill!!! Parts are on there way!

Thanks! Yeah it all turned out pretty nice. Haha yeah the 360 cameras are pretty amazing!

Ha ha I almost did that but figured someone might get upset.

Good fix Ed! I've not really noticed anything on the TW, might need to do that on my new KLR though haha.

I've been eyeing those up forever, I've always said I'd buy a set when I bust my stock ones but it hasn't happened...yet lol.

Indeed!

Lmao nope it should be pretty safe!
Yeah I suppose it does do that when in direct sunlight, I wonder if the lense itself would be much different though?
@@SwankyCatProductions Worth trying anyway. Hell I don’t know maybe not. It’s all good till you start thinking of replacing one!! :)

Mirrors next
After I bust these haha
I have almost the exact setup on mine...
How's it working out for you?

What kind of front tire do you have on the front of the tw
Kenda K257d. It's kind of a lot of tire for the bike lol.
