A demonstration from the Monash University Accident Research Centre on how vehicle speed affects stopping distance. Very important to consider with 'point of no return' stopping distances.
UltraSafe Advanced Driver Training Yeah kinda, that’s bullshit, 5k can’t make your car like that, and that was right on the tire. So they tried to make it look worse.
Niiice video! Now put in the grey car some brembo sport brakes and pads and sport tyres like an Eagle F1 Assymetric tyres... the story would be completely different!
Ey dumbass, they were talking about 65 halved so about 32. And 32 - 5 (the 5kmph difference) is 27. Thats the difference in speed before hitting the truck
I just wanted to tell everyone I'm totally broke now I have 65 cents left in my pocket don't know what to do and just praying to lord that help me from this situation where I'm stuck I'm really afraid and scared from my debts I can't pay
OK but speed is only one of the factors, looking at an isolated fact doesn't paint an accurate picture of danger. Speed limits are set with wet roads in mind so on a dry road it is possible to go faster without extra breaking distance. Also of great importance is reaction time, if you have a dangly ornament suspended from your rear vision mirror as do a large % of motorists (particularly the bad ones) it compromises ability to spot dangers early. At 60 kph every 1/10 of a second is 1.666 metres distance, if reaction time is delayed by even 3/10 of a seconds thats an extra 5 metres stopping distance which seems to be a crutial distance. All dangly mirror ornaments should be made illegal just like using mobile phones was. I don't know how you reached the conclusion that in the last 5 metres you reduce your speed to half, that means the car that hit at 5 kph took 5 metres to slow from 10 kph, thats pretty rubbish braking performance.
@@hlangille So you mean in Canada the speed limit is lower when it rains than when it is dry? I've not been to Canada but I've not heard of that, how is the wet road speed limit sign posted?
The speed limit is the limit, it does NOT mean that it is always safe to drive at the limit, and in some countries, the speed limit changes when it's raining. In France, the speed limit on the motorway goes down from 130km/h to 110km/h, and on dual carriageways, the limit goes down from 110km/h to 100km/h in the rain
and going at 100mph would have gotten them ahead of the truck and into safety!
Not every time
NO NEVER DO THAT! That could have gotten you right into th train cart
Thats a good one!!!
Thanks a lot, this gave me a reference for my physics assignment :D (and great editing by the way)
Thanks a lot, this gave me a reference for my physics assignment :D
Incorporating this into our lecture on emergency driving for paramedics
Thank you may be you could do one for 80 a typical speed (10 over limit) in Uk and they drive far far far too close, please
Perfect video
@BallisticEVA01, now put it on a wet track… The story would be completely different again.
5k so about 3 mph?

@@davidgruen7423 looking forward to your debunk video
Are the driver's stunt people?
Pause at 0:43 it looks like Francisco

Eh, 32 halved is 16 mate not 27

I have no idea where you are from, but in Canada, speed limits are set with regards to clear dry roads. With good visibility. Not, wet roads!
@@hlangille So you mean in Canada the speed limit is lower when it rains than when it is dry? I've not been to Canada but I've not heard of that, how is the wet road speed limit sign posted?
The speed limit is not lower when wet. Only that the speed limits are posted in regards to clear dry roads.

Driving at highway speeds in ice and snow. Your damn right I'll slow down. Even with snow tires and 4x4/ AWD.
