    This was the best/clearest installation video that I have seen for these, especially for installation in a steel bumper with the towing package. Thank you for posting it. It was very helpful.
    My LED also would not fit into the driver's side of the bumper. I found that it was easier to "adjust" the opening in the bumper rather than grinding down and repainting the light. The opening is simply punched and the cut edge rolled back to create the recess. It was easy to open this up enough by hammering the outside rolled edge of the opening. Use something to transfer the force of the hammer blows (e.g., another hammer, flat side of a chisel, hardwood block, etc.) so that you don't accidently strike the face of the bumper. A few carefully directed whacks and the light snapped into position easily with no damage to the paint of the bumper or powder coating of the light. I opted to wire into the lights as the mfr suggested in order to keep any splices from being submerged. The factory wiring on the LEDs is barely long enough to get there and too short to allow for careful/neat wire routing.

    Thank you for such a great video. It made the process of installing these lights more understandable. After installing the lights in my steel bumper, I ran a bead of black sealant in the groove, between the bumper and light. This will hopefully keep out water from entering the light, where the lens and body come together. Plus this black sealant blends the light and bumper together and appears more visually attractive. The lights are so bright, I'm very pleased.

    Thanks for the idea to use the tow circuit -- I did the same with my install today on my 2019 JL and it worked out perfectly! much easier to maintain all in one spot if need be. The only thing I did differently was to remove the metal brace on the backside of the plastic bumper which allowed straight access to the reflector screw on each side - I wasn't having much luck with a swivel joint. Cheers to brighter lights!

      Try removing the muffler, I was able to do it on my 2020 rubicon. No need to remove steel bumper if you get the muffler out of the way. Then use a thin wall 7 mm deep socket with a 8 in extension. It was easy to change out the reflectors to the lights. The drivers side did not fit so I had to file it a bit. Tape the screws in the socket when installing the lights so they don’t keep dropping out. Have a magnet extension just in case.

    • @ExpeditionBuilds
      @ExpeditionBuilds  2 роки тому

      Hi J. If I remember correctly, all the electrics(license plate/back-up sensors) unplug from the harness I highlight in the video. That can be found at ~ 57sec into the video.This will allow you simply unbolt the bumper and remove it. Let me know what you find.

    • @dennisreiter3378
      @dennisreiter3378 2 роки тому +2

      Try removing your muffler first. I just did my 2020 rubicon with steel bumper and it was a lot easier than removing the bumper. Loosen 1 clamp, and 2 hanger bolts on both sides. Now you will have access to the back of the reflector. Use a thin wall 7 mm deep socket on a 8 in extension to unscrew the reflector. Install the new light by tapping the screw into the socket so it does not fall out and screw it into the light. Then wire to your trailer harness unless you do not have a tow hitch. Then follow the instructions. This worked for me, good luck.

      @@frankbleigh9620 The housing is pretty thick, just do your best to try and not rough up the seal. Also, as you remove a little material from the hosing, I found it's best angle the edge, meaning a little smaller on towards the back of the light housing. This made for a little clearance as you install. I hope this helps?

    • @ExpeditionBuilds
      @ExpeditionBuilds  3 роки тому +1

    • @ORACLElights
      @ORACLElights 3 роки тому +1

      Hi Philip, we confirmed these match the factory reflectors in every measurable way. However, fittings were completed on a plastic bumper only. The irregularity between steel bumper models seems to be caused by a deficiency in the FCA stamped metal in certain model bumpers. We have added a note to our site addressing this, and individual steel bumpers may or may not require additional modification for a perfect fitment. Feel free to give us a call at 1-800-407-5776 with any other questions.

    • @ORACLElights

      @@ourbills9999 the reverse lights fit most factory steel bumpers. Some customer have slight fitment issues on the LH and others on the RH because the stamping process is inconsistent.
