- 1984 में 3 दिंसबर की उस रात मौत ने हजारों लोगों को दबे पांव अपने आगोश में ले लिया. भोपाल स्थित यूनियन कार्बाइड के कारखाने से जहरीली गैस रिसाव से समूचे शहर में मौत का तांडव मच गया. जानें आज भी दिलों को दहलाने वाले इस हादसे से जुड़ी अहम बातें:
1. यूनियन कार्बाइड इंडिया लिमिटेड के पेस्टिसाइड प्लांट में गैस रिसने से हादसा हुआ.
2. सरकारी आंकड़ों के मुताबिक इस लापरवाही की वजह से 5 लाख 58 हजार 125 लोग मिथाइल आइसोसाइनेट गैस और दूसरे जहरीले रसायनों के रिसाव की चपेट में आ गए. इस हादसे में तकरीबन 25 हजार लोगों की जान गई.
3. इस त्रासदी के बाद यूनियन कार्बाइड के मुख्य प्रबंध अधिकारी वॉरेन एंडरसन रातोंरात भारत छोड़कर अपने देश अमेरिका रवाना हो गए थे.
4. त्रासदी के बाद भोपाल में जिन बच्चों ने जन्म लिया उनमें से कई विकलांग पैदा हुए तो कई किसी और बीमारी के साथ इस दुनिया में आए. यह भयावह सिलसिला अभी भी जारी है और बच्चे यहां कई असामान्यताओं के साथ पैदा हो रहे हैं.
5. 7 जून, 2010 को आए स्थानीय अदालत के फैसले में आरोपियों को दो-दो साल की सजा सुनाई गई थी, लेकिन सभी आरोपी जमानत पर रिहा भी कर दिए गए.
on December 3, 1984, poisonous gas that leaked from the factory of Union Carbide in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal killed thousands of people directly. The incident is now known as the Bhopal disaster or Bhopal gas tragedy.
As per official records, the Bhopal gas tragedy killed 3,787 people. The figures were updated by the Madhya Pradesh government later as the immediate official estimate had put the death toll due to gas leak from Union Carbide factory at 2,259.
However, activists fighting for justice for Bhopal gas tragedy victims put the figures of death between 8,000 and 10,000. In an affidavit, submitted in 2006, the government said that the Bhopal gas leak caused 5,58,125 injuries that included approximately 3,900 severely and permanently disabling injuries.

I am from USA. I am only the eyewitness a live of this case filed in N.Y. supreme Court filed by Bhopal disaster ordinations which were including -9 doctors & 10 lawyers.At that time I was young around 34-35.We sued Union carbide for $3 billions with the conditions that the money should be sent to victims directly to their bank accounts through State bank of India.As our 8-9 Doctors went there for the treatment of those victims and we have full list of around 50 thousands victims with there health conditions &their consents to file case against the company.But at the eleventh hour with the recommendation of Mr Arjun singh & Digvijay sing , Rajiv Gandhi P.M of India send Mr Parthsarthi attorney . to N.Y. supreme court as intervene party who argued that this company is located in India under Indian Law so this court has no right to hear this case.And we lost the case.In N.Y. supreme court Mr Parthsarthi gave the affidavit that this case will be decided in fast track court within 5 years. which took 15-20 years.Mr Rajiv Gandhi did not want the money should go directly to the victims but through Indian Government.In this episode victims were given peanut money around 500 millions dollars rest 1.5 billions dollars was missing who got those money is unknown.This was the reason Mr Anderson chairman was saved and let him go out of India.Mr Arjunsingh & Digvijay singh these name was told by Indian Attorney in private discussion.All the record of that case is still in N.Y. supreme court for verification.What ever happen with Rajiv Gandhi , we are not sorry for it. other than me None of the doctors & Lawyers are alive at this time.

Meri nana nani wahi rahte the aur dad usi raat wahan chord kar aaye the unhe. Jab phones bhi nahi hua karte the mere dad dusre din hospitals main kafan utha utha kar meri mummy aur mere bhai ko dhundh rahe the. Bachpan se sunta aa raha hu is kahani ko apni maa se.

Tank that leaked was E-610. Tank never got burst, it was intact. As pressure increased in tank with reaction from water, emergency pressure release valve got ruptured and gas released through pipes and finally went out from chimney.

Indian Railway and People of India will always be indebted to Mr. Ghulam Dastagir (Dy. Station Master at Bhopal Junction) for whatever he did to save the lives of thousands of rail passengers during the Bhopal Gas Tragedy happened the same day in 1984.
