- pure gameplay here, i'll have thoughts and comments on the mode itself some time in the near future. we went with a pure degen setup because we were going for first completion for the competition, but i got into the game 25 mins late because of queue and we just didn't wanna switch subclasses. didn't end up getting it because of a wipe on wave 49 and then future attempts had error codes.

The tormentors health pool is almost as big as seven inches of shaxx
My very first run today was with "SHAXX, destroyer of poon". Dude had to have changed his name for the event.

The fact my first run on normal went on for an hour is actually mind blowing. This gamemode is so much damn fun that I honeslty lost track of time

the tormenters are actually nuts. thats usually what ends my runs.
for me, it's the demolitionists. was on midtown wave 43 tried to clutch it up for my team but got stomped off the edge
One person can drag the tormentor to the other side of the map while the other two deal with the enemies spawning until they stop, just don’t pop the shoulders on the tormentor.

My friends and I got to wave 46 and then suddenly 3 ogres literally teleported on top of the ADU and destroyed it almost instantly, was pretty frustrating
Same happened to me on 48, unstop spawned on top of us and just slammed us all.
Imo better than half paying attention to the game and just breezing through it

Same. My brother and I got to wave 42 last night, and 3 Ogres and an unstoppable spawned on top of the ADU and wiped us in like 2 seconds

The turrets at the end were just "yum yum yum, boss health for breakfast."
Those Tormentors be campin us I swear. The moment my team uses all our supers in Wave 49 -- BAM, Tormentor spawn after like 20 waves of not seeing it. Ate shit. 9/10 would run again.
Onslaught is the first time this game felt like genuinely challenging to me since when I did Zero Hour and Whisper 40 levels under and no build with no idea what was going on in the game back in season of arrivals. I’m so glad. Me and my friend had a blast with the challenge.

My group got ROLLED by the tormentor on our first try... we came back in with a plan and got to wave 49 and had the tormentor down to about 5% hp with a healthy ADU...
Then a single exploder shank snuck up from behind and insta killed all 3 of us. At full health. In a well. With woven mail. All rocking 100 resilience and concussive dampener.
10/10 would wipe again
Love that in the higher rounds, not a single enemy can just be ignored in this mode.
The reason why I don't just camp in a well. Too many times my 2 randoms would both get destroyed even while in it. People have to learn when and when not to be in a well
Highly doubt it was a single shank, I’ve frequently survived one exploder shank point blank at higher rounds without well or woven mail. It was likely several that all went off at once.
@@fizzyoddcod Shanks get a massive (~5x) damage bonus if killed by a player or another shank instead of exploding by themselves. Someone probably shot it at the last second
Mine keep getting booped and one shotted by the unstoppable ogre that always sneak up on our backs XD
Had a blast with this activity so far, but something tells me a full run to 50 is not the best way to farm weapons
Does it give extra perks on legend ? Or whats the point exactly?
@@amir.h7444ive gotten 2 perks per column on normal all you have to do is get to wave 35+
@@amir.h7444not sure, the limited time versions can roll with double perks in each column but we don’t know if their locked to legend yet. As of right now the only thing I can say for sure is legend gives double the actual loot. So I would say if you can, go for legend. Either way your spending atleast an hour to get to 50, might as well spend the extra 15 minutes going for legend and getting double the rewards

@@jordanreavis8163there’s no way it is. Farmed for hours and hours today and got a grand total of 2 special edition GL drops. Drop rate is ridiculously low.

"I wanna try vesper warlock" can confirm it's great. Tresspasser and flash grenade covers all three champs, other two weapons are both add clear. Fun as hell!
Forgive my ignorance if I've missed something, but how does Trespasser cover champions, exactly? I don't recall it having any anti-champion modifiers, unless you're referring to the seasonal ones.

ive done like four legendary runs and lost at wave 22 every time, they really did make this difficult.
Actually having to focus up and slay out is so much fun. My stasis titan build is getting insane mileage
Me getting my wires crossed and bonking a Tormentor with the ADU battery I thought was a tangle
This mode is honestly so fun...when you have people that actually stay for the whole run
This was fun as hell. A tether hunter definitely helps. I'm curious how tough legend is though.

Is this mode any good compared to horde modes in other games? I haven't played any others since Gears 2.

he made a video a month or two ago about the builds he's using for the rest of the season: this is the Strand Titan one (Banner of War, Synthoceps, emphasis on regenerating Melee + Super)

Shiny variants of weapons is like the best thing to weapons since ever? Had 60 tokens, used them in the chest near Shad and got 3 shiny Recluses out of the 6 pulls so a 1 and 3 chance? That’s pretty damn good with 2 of them being godroll shinies. Legit made me happy to see it drop on the feed. Missed this is Destiny and hope it goes moving forward. In D2 or the rumored D3
The only suggestion I would've had to make the run a bit smoother (not other builds) would be to equip Unraveling Orbs from the artifact to give your shotgun pretty much infinite anti-barrier and AoE
As someone who wants to play this game Very Casually and jump in and out. How would you recommend someone like me doing the raids to get the craft able weapons? Genuinely Curious.

After doing a couple 10 wave runs it seems like it could get pretty repetitive. Anyone got a feel for it yet?
The difficulty ramps up hard later on and it gets QUITE fun later on.
No but it is a horde mode. Horde modes are repetitive in nature, but they get harder as they go on. The bosses will rotate weekly.
You're limiting yourself doing just 10 waves.
it really isn't, I've done like four runs (none legendary mind you) and it's just plain fun. If you like playing any content in the game whatsoever, you will like continuing to play onslaught even after you've played a few ten wave runs. Ten wave runs are also just not the best way to experience it though, the enemies die way too quickly for your builds to really shine and it's not long enough for your scrap choices to seem meaningful.
The waves go by pretty fast. Even at the harder waves, they tend to speed by with a good team. I felt the repetitiveness a bit during my runs, but that’s likely because I did a few normal Onslaught and one Legend Onslaught basically back to back.
Legend doesn’t quite get to GM levels even at the very end, at least I felt anyway, but it does get hectic. You def want to bring your good loadouts if you’re doing Legend and coordinate your scrap to get gold-tier upgrades that’ll last between rotations. They will make the latter half of the run so much easier.
How do you choose legend?
Legend onslaught wasa lot of fun and challenging. The emblem is sick too. Bungie gets a W from me on this mode

Did my first clear of legend today 💪🏿 took nearly 1hr30mins 😅 stasis build with precious scars. Eyasluna with headstone, indebted kindness with voltshot and thunderlord. Ran with a bleakwatcher lock and arc buddy lock.
Most fun I’ve had in destiny in a long time and I actually like the game anyways 😂
Datto is so lucky he didn’t get a tormentor on wave 49. That’s literally the only hard thing in all of legend onslaught.
Throw a stronghold titan into that comp and it would have made it a breeze.
Imagine if, like Helldivers, our battles against the different factions in Onslaught affected some Solar System map with percentages won or lost = rewards/penalties. We could unlock the time-gated loot earlier, have a chance to unlock a drop of exotic armour or weapons and gain other benefits such as weekly buffs to boost later runs (like they did with guardian games).
50 waves of normal took me like 55 minutes with random lfg legend going need to be with the crew
Regardless of how fast you are it’ll still take 50 minutes minimum to complete 50 waves.

It's a lot of fun but tormentors just feel unbalanced. You can either get normal skybombers which don't do anything or a tormentor which has more hp than a raid boss.

My team got lucky and had tormentor only twice around 20-30. Legend 50 round def has some luck elements to it.
This turns into a snoozefest with 2 orpheus hunters, 1 Phoenix Well and 3 Polaris lances for anyone who's struggling

This is easier than gms for sure even on 50
It's minus 4 power per set of 10 waves, meaning that after wave 40 you're at a 16 power deficit. That's 1 power level harder than Master level content.
The enemies are weaker but it’s not easier. I cleared it today on legend. It’s very different than a GM. The enemy are coming for you. In a GM they don’t rush you like in here and you don’t have anything to protect other than you and your teammates. It’s tough. A full run is harder than a GM for sure.
Raw difficulty wise, it's easier since you cap at -20 instead of -25. But this is MUCH more intense than your average lfg gm. You have to be on the ball for a straight hour of balls to the wall ad clear.
@@walkmanstudios9733A legend run of Onslaught beats any GM. Onslaught is longer and has MUCH harder enemy spawns. In a GM you might get 2 ogres in an encounter. Onslaught? 20+ ogres, super tanky tormentors, objectives that can die, etc.
An hour on normal and I'm wiped out. 😵 And i thought Coil took a lot out of me.
It’s better to run 10 waves and restart to farm weapons. There’s no bonus to drop rates for completing 50 waves. The most you’ll get is a few ascendant alloys, prisms and enhancement cores on top of your normal drops but if you’re already full of those materials then there’s no reason to reach wave 50.

I dont know if anyone is gonna see this, but if you want a build for onslaught the one im using basucally cover everything, overloads, barriers and unstoppables, its a wird build but basically its uses lethopia with repulsors brace and golden tricorn, the strand fusion from the season with slice and contrrolled burst, and either thunderlord or the new exotic rocket launcher Ill give and explanation for anyone or at least try my best, also you can search it on youtube dont remmenber where I saw it but its has to be somewhere

Picking up generated orbs, throwing the healing orbs at the ADU and killing a bunch of ads adds up to your points to spend.
My best is 43, 3 wellock and i don't want to meet the big tormentor

My first lfg of regular 50 waves took an hour. Im scared that legend will take 2 hours lol
Rewards are the same every 10 waves so it’s better to just farm the first 10 instead of the full 50 so that way it doesn’t take too much of your time.

Vesper deffinately cooks!! I got my legend clear running it on my warlock with 1 solar titan and a void hunter. I dare say i perfer Vesper over Sunbracers. With overcharged Machine Guns i highly reccommend them too

Commendations change in value depending on your bar. Gold ones start becoming worth less if it's larger than everything else. If greens are the smallest thing you have then they start rewarding more points.
So I guess everyone should run all super black shader on your armor on Datto's fashion shows just so we get to see him rage over it?
After 10 years I think we can say this will go down as one of the best eras in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 hasn't been out for 10 years buddy. It's been like 6. And no, this is not ANYWHERE NEAR the best era. Lightfall to now is arguably the absolute worst.

Bungie just needs to get rid of commendations. They were DOA, they mean absolutely nothing, and all they do is make you reliant on other people to get your guardian rankups.

Ok but WHY ARE WE FIGHT ELIKSNI AGAIN. Eramis has left the system, and mithrax is our ally so who tf is the one ordering them around rn. Isnt this supposed to be the forces of the witness? Wasnt aware he took control of eramis' fallen, or otherwise had some fallen of his own that werent converted to scorn by this point.
Aside from the fact that they needed enemies to put into the mode and the taken are “elsewhere”, and the taken are elsewhere I wouldn’t be surprised if lore wise some eliksni stayed loyal to the witness, even after Erasmus fled
If you guys like this game mode try Gears of war 3 it’s the same thing and slightly better

The ADU warning alarm is like the screaming goat sound from Thor.... its annoying and I cant stop hearing it....
Personally I think completing on legend should reward you atleast 1 guarantee limited version bc only 1 hour of an activity and not even getting the best reward out of it is pretty disappointing. Granted legend isn’t too difficult just very long and tedious.
