It's not often i am surprized but this video certainly made me say wow I need to ask - have you looked at the resource called gregs mushroom grower just google for it
Looking good! Wondering what your humidity is like in your shiitake grow room? Do you ever slap or cold-shock them? Wondering if that improves on your already awesome yields.
TR, really an informative video. Thanks much. You mentioned "3790" and I assume that is the strain designation. Where did you get this strain? i have checked with a couple of the large suppliers and they have never heard of it. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
For shiitake it might be different but I know for oysters he uses the 'master mix' which is just saw dust, soy bean hulls, and water. Apparently it works much better than straw and is just cleaner overall.
Hey bro, thanks for sharing your great knowledge cultivated with vast experience, am from India and starting mushroom growing business in India, want your guidance for establishing a happy business for growing demands of mushrooms, have been following you since year and a half, hope you gonna be kind enough and become my mentor
Hey TR ...thanks for sharing....I have a quick question if you don't mind? Is that the average you achieve for your shiitake blocks 10lb of growing medium to 2lbs of fruit? Thanks again.
@@earthangelmushrooms2118 ...Did u know, the reason to NOT use treated lumber for yr racks is because of the poison in it? Would be fine if you didn't spray but the spraying causes some of that poison to leak/leach out & down onto mushrooms below.... this could end up poisoning someone!!
Not true. And I assume you mean arsenic. Any pressure treated wood manufactured after 2003 does not contain arsenic. Nowadays they contain Alkaline Copper Quat (ACQ). ACQ is considered non-toxic by dermal or oral exposure.

@@wande.r yes it does esp in the first year as it dries. infact u dont even want to have barefeet on pressure treated.. depending on where u live it can be very bad. it seems its only a matter of time before what they treat with becomes known to cause cancer, thats just a fact.
You are splashing the chemicals from the wood you used for shelves into the mushrooms. So your mushrooms have poison on them. Seems really stupid to me. I will be learning how to grow my mushrooms from a much more intelligent person.
Don't be an idiot. The chemicals in treated wood are bound within it. They dont just sit on the surface like some sort of coating you moron. You know how hard it is for it to even leach in constantly wet conditions, say in a garden bed? 3 years producing the same levels of arsenic and copper found in tap water. It leaches, but it is insignificant. So go ahead and fuck off somewhere else with your bullshit hippy comments.
This technique is standard in Japan for shiitake blocks!
Thanks for sharing. Amazing pin sets !
thank you for sharing your knowledge!
what a pin set! thanks for sharing
Thanks very much, very valuable information and appreciate you sharing your experience!!
Thanks for sharing! Really great info!
I love your sheles !
Great video!! Keep up the hard work!!
Thank you Master!
Earth Angel blocks arrived today and shiitakes are in the tent. Thanks T.R. Now let's see if I can grow them!
What a beautiful grow room!

mad pins!! thanks for the tip! =)
Amazing! Thanks for the sharing, you just harvest one flush on them or you do more?
I was wondering if you spray other types of blocks like that to increase pinning or have you just found it helpful for your shiitake?
I'll be doing 12 following your method sir thank you!
What blocks are those? And also after harvesting can u use the same block for growing again?? Thank you
If you drop the block on the ground ot helps too
Hi bro. Greetings from India. Could you explain the kind of substrate and micro climate you have adopted for 37/90. Thanks
The best mixture for growing the famous shiitake mushrooms ?
Do I add coffee to speed up growth as well?
Hey TR, great video. Thanks for sharing. What do you mean by 37 / 90 in your video? (Guess I missed this important piece of info..)
I think he meant which type.
A bit like BMW 320 or BMW 325i
Nice
So should you brown them in the bag or out of the bag?
Thanks
I hope to meet you in the future.
Nice. Do you harvest one time or do you keep the blocks somewhere to rest and reuse them for a 2nd flush ?
You can use about 25% old subtrate to new one maybe it will increase BER

Benedict Noel it's high...... and watch my other videos spanking and cold shocking and other nonsense
Ah! quero experimentar esses cogumelos. Manda pra mim.
You da man
I am going to grow mushrooms too, do you have any introductions to email me. Looking forward to your reply.
wow !!!!
Do you grow shiitake on masters mix ?
E.A.M. how many yields can you get from each block with your method? Do you dry them out and rehydrate after each yield?
Watch the video. He already told you the yield...
What tha SHIITTAKE!!
This is why youtube is important. Thank you for your honesty and content.

I believe this is from aloha medicinals before they changed their naming system....confusing...but that's what someone told me.
How is the substrate exactly made ? What is the mix and procedure ? Here in India, we use just paddy sterilized paddy straws

Matt McArthur Thank you :) Looking to set up a small farm producing about 5 medicinal mushrooms. Gathering info on the same.
Microclimate is my guess too. Shiitake likes stimulation. Good work. Peace
Hello sir namaste!im from Nepal,my question is Is the iron frame is suitable for sitakhea mushroom that u made of wood
Hey bud just wanted to let you know that these are farmed at a high humidity that will absolutely rust away some iron shelves in no time.
Yeah man
Sprinkler system?
Maybe because the sudden change in temp from the cold water.
👍👍

Best to buy a book and read, watch videos, build up your knowledge and practice. After a while you learn what works for you but keep learning.
excuse me did you just treated lumber?
Is that tap water? Or is it declorinated
RO water
Jeebus, Shiitake is just a completely different animal
She-ah-key 😂😂😂
you make me want to grow shiitake

Brian, I'd be happy to teach you...... for a price😉
Life Channel typically yes.....I have a new substrate mix in the pipeline that when trialled I averaged 3lbs a block
Thanks TR ...why don't you make larger blocks for higher production rates? I'm just thinking out loud here....
facebook.com/shane.flavell.7/posts/1558137060888069 If you get a chance here's a little project I'm working on here in New Zealand
Could you just dunk them to get a more even moisture content
more work
I just wouldn't want all that excess on my floor didn't know if dunking would be as effective
Aldon Cheek floor drains. Dunking would cost more in labor.

The treated pine in your grow room, is treated with cyanide.
First thing I noticed. Might last but not something I would use for food.

No cyanide 😂
Copper chrome arsenate most likely, no cyanide

The timber is pressure treated, no leaching occurs.

What are shelving sizes?
Not many replies by the poster. Maybe he is too busy

saturating treated lumber with food sitting on it...
mushroom will absorb any chemical from the grow environment。better not put heavy metal or plastic or treated wood under the mushroom grow bag。
Is the grow bag not plastic as well?

Geez. That was harsh… no need to be so rude and hostile.
