Always finding very cool stuff through your videos, much appreciated to have your musical mind following its bliss! Big fan of Magazine, Fad Gadget, Lush, Aphex Twin, and I am in good hands with your Fifty Foot Hose rec from the other day and your Cowboys International rec today. Hadn't heard of either before you recommending, and Fifty Foot Hose is incredible and already just the little bit I'm hearing of Cowboys International is striking my ear very right!
Right on Dereck! Nels and I are actually in the process of making an album with Cork Marcheschi. Cork and I have been friends for 20 plus years now... It's going to be wild, for sure!
Yeah, I’ve been feeling a heaviness for awhile now. We live in a country of elite tyrants who don’t give a fuck about us. Legislation is for sale to the highest bidder. Getting up every day, speaking out, listening to music, reading, watching documentaries and staying informed is almost a rebellious act now.
Magazine: always a joy to see, Dereck. I say that with a pang of regret as I sold all my records by them in a moment of madness in the 80s. I still don't know what I was doing...?
There is an epic Swans documentary on Tubi. It's like 3 hours long and gotta watch it in sections, but it's really engaging. Where Does a Body End? is the title
Hey Dereck, It's been a while since I'v commented on your channel so this to give you an update. Im still struggling with substance abuse and addiction so I havent resolved my issues yet. Im in a dark place at the moment to be honest as I neglect myself and don't take care of my responsabilities. Somehow though I know that it will end at some point. I have this strong belief that keeps me hopefull and positive. Thanks for your videos, thanks for being real ! Louis from Montréal
I hope you got everything plugged into decent power strips with GFCIs , (ground fault circuit interrupters) its not failsafe but better than the wall socket direct. Summer is gonna be rough everywhere, hang on.
@@dereckvon and then there's the risk of voltage sag that could wipe programs and files, the guy at the shop tells me I need a surge protector with uninterrupted power supply, it gives you a little time to safely shut down and keep files if the power goes out and of course, they want three hundred bucks for it.😒
Good morning, Dereck. Wishing you well and hoping you stay intact in light of the extreme weather. As crazy as things are, the utilities still manage to be here and available each day. I NEVER take my utilities for granted, because we’re living on an artificially sustained illusion that everything will be there when we need it. It won’t. The truth is, we’re one natural force away from being tossed back into the Stone Age, as you’re well aware. It’s not an if it’s a when. The fragility of society, malignant addiction to technology, human hubris, and rampant disconnection from the natural world are just some of the assorted elephants in the room that most of us see, but many of us deny.
Capitalism is an unsustainable system. Lots of Marxist-anarchist idealist type people don’t quite have the right attitude though (you know, those fake hippie leaches Zappa talked about)… Capitalism and authoritarianism is a reflection of the evil part of human nature we must fight against as a society. Due to the massive development and lack of environmental regulation in so many other countries, large parts of the world are pretty much gonna be unusable for human inhabitable soon, unless there’s massive global compliance
Well realistically a highly socialistic form of capitalism is the most workable system at this point Corporations need to be held accountable like shoplifters are
I find most people like music that they found during their late teens to early 20’s. Not all the time. By any means, But largely tastes are hard wired at that time. My Dad was that way , my mother is open to anything . She’s into metal
Are you SURE you don't want to move to California? Just kidding. But the weather has been beautiful here lately...knock on wood because who knows how long that will last.

Already there. Wasn't born yesterday.
Been using them for decades. When I thought I lost my amp it was like the house was nearly hit by lightning.
@@dereckvon I need to get a power conditioner but I keep forgetting.

@@planetpjr I don't need it.
June 30, Sunday 8pm EST on Criterion Channel (which has a free 7 day first time trial), Ryuichi Sakomoto’s last live performance will be shown.
Stay safe Dereck!

Glad your amp survived!! Seriously.
glad you're ok, dereck
The Platte River meets the Missouri at Omaha, yes? How far from rhe typical flood zone are you?
Sean, nothing is typical at this point.
@@dereckvon true enough. I was looking at the geography of your general location. It's impossible to plan for, I agree.

I know you're kidding. No way to Cali.
You know what you should do….
You ought to …
Have you ever heard of….
Well why didn’t you…
