Sometimes it's great to step out of the serious pieces to the light hearted pieces as refreshment, especially in today's serious condition. Thank you for introducing many little discovered but valuable pieces.
To me, almost like the American version of Schumann's "Waldszenen" - short, non-virtuosic but subtly difficult miniatures depicting very much a similar theme - people living a simple life close to nature. I grew up in a small town, but these scenes obviously depict a time long before even my grandparents were born. Many of my peers see "the country" as a backwards and boring place, but unfortunately, many large American cities are urban prisons of gang violence and crumbling infrastructure. You can even find stories of people being shot on university campuses in the city I live closest to. Maybe in other countries it is different, but as an American, I have grown up to view the big city as a horrible, horrible place that makes me deeply unhappy to visit. I like the country and it is an oversimplification to say that country people are "simple" or "backwards". Our modern society just doesn't cast a flattering light on people who value tradition, family values and a simple life.
Two words: SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!

Charming trivial effusions . . .
amusing

I resonate with your sentiment. Living close to the land is neither backwardness nor simplicity in the negative sense.
