I remember some local bands from back in the 90s that used to put the same songs on both sides of their tapes. I think it was because common tape formats were just cheaper in bulk, so it made more sense to put 20 minutes of material on both sides of 45 minute tapes, rather than the hassle of trying to get your hands on large quantities of 20 minute tapes.

Nice video! That second closer single was one of my "white whales" for many years. It was a glorious day when I found it. The first pressing of Broken had the 3" mini disc...which used to be rather uncommon. Probably not worth much today, but it used to command a decent price. Regardless, nice job.

I love CDs too (if you couldn't already tell). I'm sure in a few years CDs will reach a point where their popularity are similar to retro gaming, at least with a few artists. People will start to feel nostalgic for physical music after they go without it for a while.
If you want rare Broken-era items: The Physical CD promo goes from $40 to $149.99 on Discogs. The Wish CD promo goes from $50 to $175 on Discogs. The Happiness In Slavery CD promo with catalog number "prcd 4827" goes from $50 to $200 on Discogs. Bonus: Many items, such as the "Pinion" reel-to-reel, "Broken Movie" VHS, "Wish" CD-R and "Spoken" tape are so rare I couldn't find a price range for them.
I dunno about the actual monetary value of it, but I bought a copy of TDS and it had a ticket stub from the Indianapolis date of the Self Destruct tour inside the booklet. Gotta get that scanned and sent in to the NINdrive 🤣🤣🤣

You didn't include the first CD release of Broken that had the bonus tracks on a second mini CD that was in a mini slip case. Dealers were pulling them out and selling them separately so it was released as a single Disc.
I didn't include it because it's not one of the rarest. It's rare, yes, but not one of the rarest. You can easily find them online for a reasonable price.
There are some other cassettes that are rare: The US Fragile cassette in it of itself is rarely seen for sale. If it is, they want like $90-$130 for it. I have U.K. Copies of Broken, Fixed, and Downward Spiral on Cassette, all of which use Chrome Tape and are distributed by Island Records. Pretty Hate Machine has a similar release, but I don’t have it… yet. The U.K. Downward Spiral cassette is the rarest of all of these and fetches $100+ unless you get lucky. The rest are all pricey as well, just not as and easier to find. US pretty hate machine cassettes can be found with Ferric tape but some pressings use either cobalt or some kind of pseudo-chrome formula. These are harder to find, and even harder to find in near mint condition. Most of them fetch the same as the other US cassettes. My copy fell apart. Original TDS US cassettes and some US Broken Reissue cassettes use Dolby S Noise Reduction with ferric tape. MCA Distributed reissues use Dolby B noise reduction with ferric tape. Same goes with The Fragile cassettes as they were distributed by MCA at that time.

You missed a few here. The NIN We're In This Together single (Australian or Japan release. I can't remember) was selling for about $70 in the US when it was somewhat new. I used to pick these up from Best Buy for $3 a piece and sell them on E Bay whenever Best Buy would get a shipment of imports. Tracklist: We're In This Together (Album Version) Complications of the Flesh (Danny Lohner Remix) The Perfect Drug (Original Version) Also the Demo's and Remix's album is quite rare and has some interesting versions of Ring Finger, Kind of I want To, and several different versions of Down In It.
I found a solution to the 2-part European version of closer to God and Further away: Someone was selling part 1 with both discs in, so that way I can have both spaces filled in part 1, without taking the disc out of my part 2 XD That does mean somewhere in the world there is an empty part 2 though, which is horrifying.
I used to own the white version of Closer: Further Away. Bought it at a 2nd hand shop for $7. I traded it for a bunch of other lesser rarer NIN collectables. I think that may be my photo you used as I remember submitting photos to nincatalog.com. Should have held onto it... Still have my down in it promo though.... collecting dust in a box.

You do realize that all four tracks are on the entire tape so no tape is “wasted” for repeating the program on both sides? It is not a complicated format to understand before making a video on it.

That single ins't really that hard to find these days. There aren't any on eBay at the moment but there are a lot on discogs for about $50 - $90. The items on my video are ones that are rarely available but when they are, are crazy expensive.

Yeah it's much more convenient to have everything in a digital format now, but it's still cool to actually have physical copies of things. I really love owning a CD collection. It's not always as convenient as digital, but it's still awesome to be able to actually hold something physical with art on it.

Cool. I have the rare Down In It and I managed to get the Closer cd Further Away. I have no idea how I came across the first. The latter took many order and reorder attempts! And it wasn't cheap. But can't complain, I think it cost me about $35 at the time... And a great deal of patience.
I have about 30 Nine Inch Nails CDs but I have none o the ones you mentioned. Looking forward to the more attainable collector items video because I feel distinctively mainstream right now.

There is a 3 inch mini disc that came with the original pressing of Broken that had Physical and Suck on it but it isn't that rare. Having said that, I don't see any available on eBay at the moment.
when i 1st started buying cds back in the 90s, amoung the 1st things i picked up was the single for closer. i didnt really know much about imports or rarities at the time, but sitting on the shelf at best buy was this 3 cd bundle labelled 'import'. my mother was there & made some remark about it probably not having 3 cds inside, but my logic was 'hey look, its got 3 trays, ofc theres 3 cds!'. turns out i was right, but this was maybe luck. so what was in the 3cd bundle was the part 1 of closer containing both black discs, & it was shrink wrapped together with a copy of fixed, i think all for around $30. ive never heard of anyone else finding both discs together, so im not sure if theres anything unique about it, or just some guy at best buy decided to bundle them together or something. its got a bit worn down over the years, so the case is pretty far from mint. it also doesnt say the halo, & back before ebay it actually took me some time to find the standard cd of closer just to fill the 'gap' in my halo line. i suppose i could get some photos of it just to show if theres nothing special, or if it was some strange bundle variation. yknow once i clean the house & find my camera. also, when it 1st came out, the perfect drug smelled like white chocolate.. just me?
Even during my NIN craze years ago...I wouldn’t spend $500 on one of them. Maybe half of that at most. I don’t even have most of my collection anymore. I sold almost all of it. I did keep my Closure VHS for whatever reason though.

That single ins't really that hard to find these days. There aren't any on eBay at the moment but there are a lot on discogs for about $50 - $90. The items on my video are ones that are rarely available but when they are, are crazy expensive.

Halo one is actually "Down In It" (the first CD in this video). All physical versions of "Purest feeling" are actually bootlegs.

Yeah it's much more convenient to have everything in a digital format now, but it's still cool to actually have physical copies of things. I really love owning a CD collection. It's not always as convenient as digital, but it's still awesome to be able to actually hold something physical with art on it.

A little bit of actual information would have been good. also, the painfully slow manner which the bad jokes were made, was pretty irritating. was it only the perfect drug where he actually discussed the real going rate? I had to skip quite a bit. Maybe if someone did a breakdown in the comments of real information, that'd be cool.

Dude, you gotta relax on the jokes. It's not funny, it takes a lot of time and it's tiring to go through it. I love that you're making content about NIN but at the same time I catch myself pressing "L" to skip 10s of bullshit or an attempt of being funny.
The content is great, you're doing a decent job at editing, but you don't have the charisma to do jokes that stupid. Intonation and flow is just wrong.

There was a Suck single but it wasn't a Halo.
I've seen the bootleg "Suck" single, labeled "Halo 0.0" and it features a live version of Suck that seems to be lifted from Pigface's Welcome to Mexico live comp.
It might have been labeled "halo 0.0" but there is no "halo 0.0."

Cool. I have the rare Down In It and I managed to get the Closer cd Further Away. I have no idea how I came across the first. The latter took many order and reorder attempts! And it wasn't cheap. But can't complain, I think it cost me about $35 at the time... And a great deal of patience.
Were you willing to sell the white Further Away? I also have a spare copy of Sin UK Slimline for trading :)

I bought a stack of like 15 Nine Inch Nails CDs like this from a closing library all for $5 10 years ago haha. Anyway, I like this guy's delivery. Granted I feel less like I learned something and more like I was hearing someone else speak the same exact way I think.. which if that's a case I probably wouldn't have learned anything anyway. Hmm. But I just bought both the Sin single and the Closer EP (white disc for the 1st part).
They both cost me less than £10 altogether. So not really worth that much sadly.

Then why the fuck would you watch a video about it? So you can have something to complain about? There are literally millions of videos on UA-cam that discuss the actual music. I have other videos discussing the music itself. This is just one video talking about rare NIN CDs, something I haven't seen any other UA-camr cover. Get a life.

There is a 3 inch mini disc that came with the original pressing of Broken that had Physical and Suck on it but it isn't that rare. Having said that, I don't see any available on eBay at the moment.
I had the broken mini disk. Yea it came with the Broken album.
when i 1st started buying cds back in the 90s, amoung the 1st things i picked up was the single for closer. i didnt really know much about imports or rarities at the time, but sitting on the shelf at best buy was this 3 cd bundle labelled 'import'. my mother was there & made some remark about it probably not having 3 cds inside, but my logic was 'hey look, its got 3 trays, ofc theres 3 cds!'. turns out i was right, but this was maybe luck. so what was in the 3cd bundle was the part 1 of closer containing both black discs, & it was shrink wrapped together with a copy of fixed, i think all for around $30. ive never heard of anyone else finding both discs together, so im not sure if theres anything unique about it, or just some guy at best buy decided to bundle them together or something. its got a bit worn down over the years, so the case is pretty far from mint. it also doesnt say the halo, & back before ebay it actually took me some time to find the standard cd of closer just to fill the 'gap' in my halo line. i suppose i could get some photos of it just to show if theres nothing special, or if it was some strange bundle variation. yknow once i clean the house & find my camera.
also, when it 1st came out, the perfect drug smelled like white chocolate.. just me?
Even during my NIN craze years ago...I wouldn’t spend $500 on one of them. Maybe half of that at most. I don’t even have most of my collection anymore. I sold almost all of it. I did keep my Closure VHS for whatever reason though.
