- The best of the best - My Skincare, makeup, growing older, coping with life...let's really talk! I had such a reflective week! My son's 51st birthday is tomorrow, making me look at my life at almost 70 in a brand new way. I talk about 10 things I can't live without...things that helped me when I was down. I list things that help so much with my spirit and mental health at any age..but especially over 65.
It was a fun week, taking you to thrift stores, weeding in the garden & being stumped, and on spring walks with Desi! Desi always looking for his Zoey now. It's heartbreaking when he misses her!
I also confide in you about what you all have done for me here...
and in sitting in my humble tiny sun porch
I think I unlocked the reason why I feel more peaceful.
And I was pretty amazed!
Perhpas aging is just a better view of ourselves in our beautiful totality.

I just love it when you & Desi sing!!! It always, always, always makes me laugh because it is so cute!!!!! I can't live without animals, all kinds of animals. When I am sad all I have to do is go be with my animals & I am happy again. I used to have a llama & donkey, pony, goats, chickens, a pot belly pig & I was so happy. I can't have those animals now because I live in the City Limits. It is hard for me not to have animals! I like every one of the dresses except the off the shoulder dress because one always has to keep their arms down with an off the shoulder dress and to spend a whole day that was is awful. I liked the black dress except I'm thinking black is not a wedding color. Any one you chose is going to be beautiful.
Hello! I love dress 4 and 6. They both have sleeves and at 60 I truly appreciate not having my upper arms showing. I can’t live without slippers! Crazy, I know! But I don’t like cold feet and my toes running into furniture😅.

I'm not having a good life right now, my beloved husband recently passed away, my beloved Scottie passed away last week totally unexpectedly and I am facing major surgery plus I am completely alone, no children therefore no grandchildren. However, I must tell you that being a part of your online group helps me cope on my worst days. I wish to thank you Susan for your beautiful spirit that always shines through and I thank all you lovely souls whose input is so valuable to me. You are all such an inspiration to me in this very dark period of my life. God Bless you all.

My daughter died on 1st march I'm still waiting on the coroner .I always thought I could not live without her. It's so hard she was my everything .She had a hard life but we had each other. I miss her so much .My Mother passed away a little while ago .This Mother's day will be so hard without my daughtet and my Mothet .They were the only family I had .Sorry to sound so negative .

Dear Little Poet, I've been wanting to share with you how you and Desi played a big part in the recent adoption of my Shih Tzu rescue, Cuddles! The shelter named her Miracle because her coat was horribly matted and she was skin and bones. (I'll try to keep the story short) I have admired you as a person and think your beautiful inside and out. I also absolutely love your story about seeing Desi in the shelter and how he learned to trust you. I've rescued strays all my life and understand the love you have for your pets. There's so much that led me to want to foster and adopt Cuddles, but her under bite immediately connected me to you and your sweet Desi! The videos of you and Desi singing literally choke me up and bring a tear to my eye. I shared the precious pics of you and Desi when I adopted Cuddles. I just wanted to know how much I love the bond between you and Desi. I also enjoy your insightful, humerous, honest, beautiful videos!
Regarding the gorgeous dresses, I know you'll look gorgeous in whichever one you choose, but dress 1 grabbed me! Choose the one you feel best about, because your beauty and radiance will shine through in any of them!! Looking forward to seeing which one you choose!

#6 is awesome in every way for an August wedding (#4 if it was Fall/Winter). I am 73 and found you by accident just a few weeks ago. I AM ADDICTED! Like others have said, Susan, you are so relatable and likeable and soothing. You make me laugh and cry. Desi and you are a hoot together. I admire you for keeping such an incredibly honest, peaceful, grateful attitude about everything. You appear to be extremely happy and content making this little brick house into a truly homey home! I too was very much like you over the years - no matter what challenges my children and I had to face - we managed to deal with it all head-on. For some reason, when faced with adversity now; it is not as easy to stay positive. You give me hope that things will all turn out OK. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your "friendship", creativity, love of nature and my newfound inner circle. We are all in this together aren't we! No matter where we live we seem to all share quite a lot of similar stories; the good, the bad and the ugly.

My dear friend who has passed away lived in a small senior apartment she had filled with the beautiful antique collections and memorabilia that she loved. We would go on house tours through these fabulous mansions and I would come home and feel critical about my home in comparison. She would say she loved her apartment on the 13th floor overlooking the city. She could see the night lights and the fireworks on the 4th of July. She said those homes had nothing that she didn’t already own. Everything she collected and loved over the past 80 years of her life. I miss her and the joy of life that she shared.

I vote for dress # 1. The color would make your skin absolutely glow, the ease of the fit would mean no worries that you'd be uncomfortable, the detailing is gorgeous, and it's flowy--every move you make would be a little celebration of the day.

Susan, as always, thoroughly enjoyed this video, and of course the finale with Desi! About 6 months ago, I stopped watching the morning news ( never terribly uplifting), and instead take my coffee outside to my covered patio. My backyard is truly my happy place. I plant many pots in spring, and have multiple bird feeders out for their dining pleasure. When I first get outside, I take a couple of minutes to speak my gratitude journal entry for the day. It takes a moment and starts my day off with a positive mindset. Then I too just savor my coffee, listen to nature and am thankful for the start of another day. Way better for my heart and spirit than the news! As for the dresses, I do love the green one, especially the feminine back view. I also think the dark blue is quite elegant. I'm not there yet but it's improving...it will never be what I would have if I was rich but no one can take it away from me and as time goes on that is important

Hi Susan, my vote is for either #1 or #6. Choose color! Neutrals will not bring out your skin tone and hair color. Your story about being a child and being brought to tears upon seeing your first piece of art is not surprising. The great masters of art and music meant to illicit great emotion from their viewers/ listeners with their masterpieces. We are born with the capacity to feel and express deep emotion. As we grow older, our society teaches us to suppress those deep feelings. Yet, as a child, yet incapable of intellectualizing what you were seeing, you FELT it on a deep, spiritual level, that evoked such emotion in you. As parents we should encourage our children to honor their feelings and not suppress them. BTW, another beautiful video. Thank you!
I just found you yesterday. First time. I've watched way too many videos of you over the past 24 hours. LOL But I am SO grateful that you are here. Because there are a lot of us 'out here all alone'. I KNEW that -- I have done tons of research over the past year (and more). There are MANY GOOD articles about this phenomena but there is NO ONE (who I'm aware of) who is TALKING about growing old, growing old alone, spouses who have deserted us, staying mostly at home. Thank you so much. I feel so much better about my life -- I am ashamed to say that I'm not rich but far from poor, and I have STILL been depressed. I also feel better knowing that I really am not all alone. Again, I KNEW I had company in my loneliness and desire to just stay home -- but you're the first one to talk personally about growing old and all the problems that brings.
I vote for no. 1 dress. I love love love seeing Desi each week. I can’t live without a dog either but of late I have. I’ll be 75 soon and I’m having mobility issues so I have to face the fact that I may never be able to have another dog. I do have two cats and I love them dearly but I miss my dog so much. I had her for 15 years a stray Boxer/ Pit who found me. Dolly was the sweetest, happiest girl and brought me joy every day. Now I just give to organizations that save dogs and transport them north out of the southern kill shelters. Dolly would like that. Something I can’t live without is hot tea and books. I’ve loved hot tea since I was a child and books since about 3rd grade. Funny because I had a hard time initially learning to read but once I did there was no stopping me. I ended using being and English teacher and won awards. I owe everything to my Mama who worked with me every night after she had worked all day. She figured out that I was a sight reader and phonetics never worked for me. Thank God for great mothers…the hand that rocks the cradle holds so much power…❤️
Dress 1 has a beautiful silhouette that I think would flatter your petite figure, but you have to choose the one that you feel most comfortable wearing. Desi in all his infinite wisdom will help you choose!

My favorite dresses are #1,3,6. I love the green color, however the tie in the back takes away some of the sophistication I think. Loved Desi and the squirrel (complete with music!)

I have to agree about sheets ! Years ago when l didn’t have extra money to spend on sheets . My friend was having her third baby . She called me in the middle of the night to come over and stay with her other kiddos . She told me to sleep on her side of the bed and not the couch . She had the softest most incredible sheets and she said that her mother and grandmother told her not to settle on bedding and towels . It hasn’t been until we became empty nesters that l started splurging on sheets and towels. I feel like a princess when l wrap myself in both the sheets and towels . All the dresses are beautiful, but l love the last one , # 6 . It’s beautiful!!!!

I could not live without my coffee just like you and especially my first morning cup sitting quietly with my cat, looking out my back door and seeing birds, squirrels and at times deer. I’m so grateful for all that I have, simple things give me joy more now in my 70s than ever before. I love your home and your neighborhood, so happy you made the move to be near your son and his family. Desi signing was so precious I just love to hear him go higher and higher, he is so loved and happy with you! ❤

I couldn’t live without my relationship with God and Jesus, my children, my family, my friends, my church family and my pet’s, who are definitely my emotional support system. As far as the dresses go, I think six is the prettiest, followed by one and two.
What a wonderful video, this should be a tag. Over the last year life changed in such a profound but wonderful way. I was diagnosed and treated for hairy cell leukemia. I kept the diagnosis and treatment close. In the same period my husband of almost 32 years was diagnosed with a life limiting cardiac condition. It was a gift, this last year. I can live without most things that I thought were important a year ago. I still love my coffee, music and my rescue dog. Other than that, I just need good company, good conversation, being present in good moments. I see beauty everywhere. Poppies blowing to and fro in the wind are so beautiful they make me weep with joy. I forgive everyone and everything instantly. I love and just feel grateful. Sometimes hard things are gifts! My son got married in February. I have a few pictures in my recent video. Life has become beautiful and I can do without everything except my tribe, my ladies, my friends, my family and kind strangers on the street! Sending you love sweet lady ❤❤❤ Mona! My wish my prayer for you is that you would just relax and enjoy this wedding. You really don't need to diet you will look beautiful just as you are .... I have been to a lot of weddings and they always turn out just fine. I think all the dresses are lovely but 6 is my favorite. I think the straight line will make you look taller. How fun it is to see Desi running and playing with his furry friends~ My least fav thing is when you two sing... I feel that the high pitch hurts his ears and that is why he howls. I really do believe dogs are very sensitive in that way, so I am not trying to be mean.

I don't think I can live without your videos now that I discovered your videos this morning. I know there are many things I can live without but I cannot live without God and my close relationship with Him. I know what you mean about the little simple things that give us joy. I love your sweet dog, Desi. I lost my sweet pup not long ago. His name was Charlie and he gave me such joy. I miss him so much and I have thought of getting another dog but can't afford adoption fee. I am in my 70's and struggling right now. Your video really cheered me up ~ you are beautiful from the inside out and appreciate your attitude of gratitude so much. Thank you for sharing such positivity and simple things that mean so much.

Sweet Little Poet, I love dresses #1 and #6 ! I would feel like a princess in something like that! My dog, Cooper, is my Best Buddy. He's a 65 pound Australian Shepherd that knows when I'm sad , happy, feeling bad...always here for me. Art made you cry...some Classical music is so beautiful ( especially played live) and some old hymns can make me cry. I live in a rural area and I couldn't live without my peace and quiet, creek and woods. I' rarely leave my property, but I have all I want and need right here. I love our "visits" every week! Thank you!

I love dresses 1 and 4. I am grateful for waking up everyday. Of course, my children are most precious to me. I'm 76 but don't feel it. Just heard a Zac Brown Band song with the title" I'm much too young to be this damn old!! haha I've never commented on any of the people I follow on utube. But, you really touch my soul, and make me realize how lucky I am. Married twice. First husband (wonderful man) came out of the closet after 32 years of marriage. Survived that and vowing never to get married again, I met Vern and that changed. I have known him 16 years and have been married 13years. We have traveled and have had wonderful times. He is in the middle stages of dementia now, and although it is very sad, I still stress to him that each day is special and let's enjoy it !!!! You have to live in the moment. All dresses are lovely, my choice is 6. Summery, yet has the soft sleeves so you wouldn’t have to wear a shawl or jacket, practical looking if you have an uneven tan on your arms that wouldn’t be noticed, if it is a cooler that day it would look appropriate and the dress is a lovely colour and style.
