That’s great brother. No idea how you keep that count. To get this down in a week is insane. I can’t wait for the Tomas play through vid to see him blast through this shit with all his little ghost notes and and hi hat tricks. He’s a fucking God.
Thanks man! Yeah, it was a lot harder than I imagined it actually - some of those polyrhythms are crazy! I‘m also stoked for a playthrough by Tomas, he’s one of my top 3 drummers!
Yeah, for me it was like that too. But once I had it down it was the easiest part of the song together with the ending - it just sounds very difficult, which is pretty cool actually :D The part that still gives me a headache is the guitar solo.. that was by far the hardest part. Cheers 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Haven't listened to Meshuggah in a while. The ending felt like the ending of Dancers to A Discordant System from Obzen. Interesting. I actually miss that older Meshuggah. Also, some textures they used back from the 2002 Nothing album. But times goes on. Great drumming. Very technical and mind-fucking rhythmic directions for sure. Ha!
Thanks a lot man!! To be completely honest - it's almost one take. I corrected one short sequence around 3:08 - I just took it from another take. But all the rest is really just this one take. Cheers :)
Thanks a lot! Covering Meshuggah is always a challenge - somehow this track seemed easier when listening to it. When I sat down to actually play the parts I realized that it’s going to be hard :D 🤟🏻
This is DAMN AWESOME! that double base, boy, so lively! I'm trying to learn it as much as I can. Slowing it way down now till I get comfortable with it! cheers!
Hey, thanks a lot! Phantoms is one of my favorite tracks of the new record atm.. this instrumental part at the end blows me away every time. I will definitely try that one when I have more time :) Cheers!
Hey there, thanks a lot! Yeah, in this video I‘m just focused the whole time - with a song this complex I would have needed at least 100 runs more to really loosen up and play it with more ease! But I‘m glad you still like it :) Cheers!
@@SimonSchroederDrums yeah, the geometry involved in this song need extreme focus, but thats the magic of this band, when you are able to decipher and understand that rhythmical geometry, then you can flow with the groove... Regards man and keep sharing your great work.
Hell yeah lil Bro!!!! \m/ \m/ \m/ i was looking for a Drum cover of this song and YOU were the ONLY one lol ;) FAN-TASTIC Job Man!!!! Tomas is, well Tomas LOL .... if you don't know already, he had a slipped disk in his lower back years ago that prevented him from using his right ''power'' foot :( He obviously healed up with lots of therapy n practice (thank God) but hats off to you young man!!!! keep up the GREAT Work!!!!! \m/ \m/ \m/ Peace, Love & Music :)
Thanks a lot!! Yeah, I guess Tomas talked about it in an interview. Must have been around 2012 during the production phase of Koloss.. I remember being very impressed reading that interview while listening to the double bass in "The Demon‘s Name..“ 😅🤟🏻
For me the Guitar solo section starting around 3:00 was the most difficult part! It took me a while to really get it down - and even then I still had to concentrate very hard to get it clean. Cheers!

Actually I don’t know really.. my video was linked in the Interview Tomas did with Rolling Stone Magazine. Only thing I know is that it took me 4 days to learn it, and that I was sweating a lot 🥵😅🤟🏻
Hey there! I‘m glad that you like the cover! Haake for sure is one of my top 3 drummers - I couldn’t catch them live as all the dates in Germany were cancelled.. I know that Tomas had health issues which forced him to take a break from drumming for almost a year. It’s great to see him playing again - he’s a legend 😃🥁
Really sorry to say I couldnt finish your video due to the camera shake. Your playing and mixing is fantastic and got me really excited, but the constant and fake camera shake just got me nauseous and not paying attention to the important bit halfway through. I understand why its there, but I think it would be way better if it wasnt so agressive and constat. All the best!
Hey there, thanks for the feedback! And I'm glad that you like the playing and sound - I can understand that the camera shake is too aggressive for you in this video.. I added it to get more movement into the pictures. I will use less of the shaking in the future.. looking back it's a bit too much for me too in this video. Cheers!!
@@SimonSchroederDrums Sorry for the late reply I was in the shower. I find the hardest part of Seven Nation Army is remembering to start the count from 1 again after 4, sometimes I go to 5 by accident and then i'm playing a compound signature for the rest of the tune and it gives me a headache
Playing Haake's part must be like solving the Fourier transform of the guitar sound waves while it is being played... 🤤
Yeah, for this one I actually had to practice more than for the Clockworks Cover.. :D
Perfect!! Well done. Using this as a reference to learn it
Thanks man!! 🤟🏻

'Older meshuggah' lol. Music 'fans' are so weird.
