  • In this episode I explore more of Southern California. Deserts, volcanics, the landscapes are breathtaking, but somehow, I am mostly battling with a railway track that is in my way. In the end, I decide to make friends with the trains and ride with them.

Noraly, all those boots strung around the extinct petrol station at the beginning of your trip belonged to US Marines. These Marines were stationed at the 29 Palms Marine base approximately 100 miles west of that location. It is a ritual with those who have served and left the Marine Corps for civilian life. They hang their boots on almost anything high in the air such as what you discovered and power lines.

      Hi Jon,

And also have free water and electricity. Then i also would make it a bit more comfortable with chairs, a table and some other little stuff. The idea was that traveling motorriders could crash a day or even a few days at my place.
I know from experience that traveling with a motorcycle is not cheap. Especcially nowadays with these gasoline prices.
But never got a good idea how to let people know it. How i let people become aware of that possibility. Is Bunker where you are talking about somekind of meetingplace specially made for this ?

I'm in Canada..... retired from the railway (CP Rail). Pretty well anywhere in North America if there's a train track you know a road (often a unpaved road) is close by because the railway requires access to the tracks by road in case of a derailment. I've seen trains 2 1/2 miles long during my days working on the railway..... my last 13 years were at a major intermodal terminal in southern Ontario just dealing with thousands of truck drivers & intermodal containers. Train crews have a boring job on the road so seeing a pretty girl on a motorcycle made their day (if they only knew it was the world famous Noraly from the Netherlands lol).

How romantic, riding along with and interacting with a freight train! You've already given us a true sense of the scale of this country with its huge open roads, huge trains and huge breakfasts!😃

When my kids were much younger, I used to take them out in my truck to certain highways that paralleled the railway so could keep pace with the trains. They absolutely loved it especially when they could get the train engineer to toot their horn as they waved at them. My kids are grown now but your episode with that engineer blowing his horn as you waved at him brought back many memories.
    Love your channel.

Was chuckling when you got stuck at train tracks. I got myself in the same predicament a year ago about 50mi west on the same track. Took me 30min to get my Multistrada out of the sand trap. Good on ya Noraly! Watching these Mojave episodes has brought a happy tear to my eye. LOVE IT:)

Why not just take the bike over the tracks? Might take a little effort but beats driving back and forth.

@@MrRicomex Where I was trying to cross, the berm was too tall and too steep and too much gravel to even get to the tracks on a Multistrada...

Best part about watching all her videos is her sense of wonderment at everything, at the small things being like a inquisitive kid and the visible genuine excitement in her eyes is so beautiful to see and that's why I watch because she reminds me of the excited kid I used to be makes me wanna get out there and live life better than I am doing it now

i think its not the sights and travels that make this channel so appealing -but the genuine respect for all people and places that shines through her commentary that makes this chanel and her truly legendary and endearing.

You've taken train spotting to a new level. I doubt most American train spotters will get waved and honked by engineers with such affection.

I couldn’t get over her not just riding over the tracks because that’s what myself and other riders I’ve been with would always do.
She’s a cautious rider which allows her to travel the world in the fashion she does without too many accidents. Her mentality is great to have on a long journey like hers rather than an overconfident one… over confident will usually cause problems.

I agree. I would have crossed the tracks with trepidation and may have gotten thrown. I've had a couple of incidents with tracks and trestles. I do pray for her safe travels. Especially in Mexico and the United states.

She just got new super shocks and she's on a super dirt bike! Jumping the tracks is A requirement to qualify for the privilege of driving that bike!!! She's goT tires that can climb a tree; for crying out loud !! Wondering if she's really a lost librarian now? My heart is broken!
