Twitch Ads directly drive me off the platform every time. They are intrusive, rude, loud and obnoxious. Never mind the fact that if you accidentally refresh a stream you can get hit with 5 minutes of unskippable ads.

I write this from a small content creators perspective. When I streamed on Twitch I had around 350 to 400 each stream. Since moving to UA-cam 3 months ago I average between 30 to 50. The platform has a terrible user experience with next to no integrations and those it does have rarely work. Its worst for discoverability. I have been told by viewers on multiple times that my stream doesn't even show in the category I am streaming to. The reason I feel compelled to write this is the larger streamers who move across do not rely on the discoverability that us mere mortals at the lower end depend on. Grass roots streaming on UA-cam is not a thing. I just thought some people may find that useful. Sorry for the epic amounts of text!!

There NEEDS to be a separate UA-cam Streaming app. They can connect it however they want to the original app, getting advice from creators and advertisers.
It is just WAY WAY WAY too hard to do UA-cam long form videos, shorts, community posts and streaming all on the one app and have it a good navigation experience. I don't see how it will ever be possible. Especially because if people are watching a stream and get bored, there is fully made, creative, edited, fast paced videos that are much more attention grabbing literally on the exact same page. Just have a separate, CONNECTED UA-cam brand app for streaming, it will fix majority of the issues (once you get all the channels and their connections with the OG app perfected).

To Ludwig’s point about community - I entered the song contest mentioned in the video. This guy had 144 people enter the song contest and for the sake of the time, had his moderators make a cut to 32 songs. This was an unpopular decision with those that had entered the contest and didn’t make the cut because everyone assumed the songs would at least be played on stream making the hours of work worth it no matter the result.
This got a little bit of negative attention in his Reddit but he could have kept it the way it was and it would have blew over in a week.
BUT! To make about 100 people in his community happy, he decided to listen to every song entered ON STREAM. I had other contestants blowing me up on discord about what was happening and it was a super exciting moment for all of us.

Twitch experience outside the us and other main countries is really intresting
I stay in the middle east and I do not speak the language at all. Twitch dosent show ads thankfully for some reason over here, but that means people dont have a reason to subscribe to you unless you offer them something else (Discord Roles, access to videos bfre they are posted, community nights, you name it)
As an english speaking streamer that goes live when everyone goes to sleep, I expected to have no one watch me
but somehow the malaysian community found me
I am extremely grateful that it happened, but the fact that I am 4 hours behind them and they still watch me is baffling to me.
Ive expected the Middle east or european audience to be my core but I got lucky
what I wanted to say was,
when some of the core problems with twitch (ads being intrusive) are no longer a problem, it makes it so that creators have to get, well... creative and for those communities to move over to youtube in the future, it would mean that twitch needs to screw up even more than what they already have done.

For sure. Getting otk and otk adjacent people to switch over is probably not possible since they are much more ingrained in twitch.
People in the bubble of sykkuno, Rae, fuslie and so on have repeatedly criticized twitch chat culture, especially in gta rp related stuff, and while this move won’t fix that I’ve heard streamers say the chat on yt isn’t as bad mostly.
twitch chat has its positives for sure. the streamers switching over still engage with their chat but even when they were on twitch they more and more relied on themselves for content.
They’re not like mizkif who are able to go hours on end with literally just their chat. And they don’t need to since they have to stream less hours. And I haven’t seen a yt streamer who didn’t use that for making more quality content on stream or videos.

I think that before making the switch from Twitch to UA-cam, a streamer must first and foremost ask the question of, "why am I switching?" They should consider what the UA-cam platform is. It is a bunch of videos made by people/content creators. As a streamer you will have to compete with these people. If all you do is stream? Then don't make the switch, you're better off on Twitch. If you make videos? Like have an editor or you are your editor that makes compilation videos or what you stream turns into a video or if you record videos yourself. Then make the switch.
XQC is what I would deem as a prime example, all he does is stream. He doesn't edit videos and upload them to UA-cam or records a video for the expressed purpose to upload it to UA-cam later, he just streams. He should stay on Twitch. While on the other hand, Ludwig. He hits record and makes videos for the express intent to upload them onto UA-cam. He made the switch and he is able to do more because of it. The intention of the switch should determine if you do. No intention to make videos, then don't. Intention to make videos, then do.

I think once UA-cam makes the live stream tab better, it might encourage more people to switch over. Like the livestream tab takes you to the homepage of Livestream and has a bunch of different categories you can choose from, like how twitch does it. Hopefully with better organization tho.

Coming from a mod perspective in the OTV/ CB sphere and being able to talk to those moss switching over, UA-cam also really really needs to put some effort into their mod tools. No logs, can only delete messages and timeout people for 5 minutes, which you can't undo either. The fast moving chats also make it super hard, which Truffle helps with but the fact that UA-cam can't fix that is just painful.
I also keep seeing the comments saying "UA-cam is better cause you can rewind", only of the streamer allows it, and the only other thing is less ads. Which I can understand but to say UA-cam is better just isn't it right now.

Personally speaking, I've never watched Lud more than since he switched to UA-cam (if that makes any sense), mainly because I live in a part of the world where people usually stream when it's nighttime or early morning for me, and at those times, I'm not gonna get up from my comfort to boot up the PC just to watch a stream, and because the twitch mobile experience is GARBAGE(!!), watching his streams on UA-cam now, is much easier and smoother, I don't really care about emotes or community interaction, I just put it on, and if it's something interesting enough, I'll stick around, if it's not, either I go to bed or get up to start my day...
Also, the VOD watching experience on UA-cam, is MUCH smoother than it is on twitch, whether it's browser or mobile! watching VODs on mobile actually PISSES ME OFF, so I never go on there for past streams, so I basically almost never watch anything on twitch unless I go out of my way and make time for a planned stream or something.... and even those i can't catch nowadays.
So yeah, personally, I'm really starting to hate using twitch in general, but I guess SOME people I keep up with are still there I guess I'll still go on it every now and then **shrug**

One thing not talked about a great deal is the impact that Vtubers have on UA-cam streaming. To this day they still have some of the most watched UA-cam streams ever. There are hundreds of thousands of people watching vtubers during any given hour of the day and more of those channels are moving over to UA-cam. Hololive and Nijisanji especially have been rapidly growing in the youtube live streaming sphere. Now that Twitch has gotten rid of the forced exclusivity even more have jumped to youtube.

I disagree on the last point, the chatting and discoverability is worse but everything else is better. No ads, the ability to pause the stream and pick up where you left off, being able to go back in the stream, rather than having to click off and find the vod, plus twitch vods are 10-15 minutes behind the stream, unlike youtube. The watching experience is leagues better.
