It’s crazy how much the edgy choices in this game compare to origins. Like in origins you could literally murder children, let your friend be graped, sell elves into slavery and let kids be possessed by demons. It’s nuts how watered down this franchise has become
@19:42 Remember when fighting an Ogre was considered a serious danger? Remember when the Dwarves would have pre-emptive funerals for the people who specialized in fighting Darkspawn, because fighting Darkspawn was a big deal? How can a game, where the dialogue is apparently so important, do such a bad job with writing and voice acting? Look at Elden Ring, a game where a main thing about it is gameplay and they treat their lore and story is vague, mysterious, and open ended... they are miles ahead on terms of writing and voice acting. How is this a thing???
Elden Ring was worked on by GRRM. This game was worked on who clapped and cheered during every scene of Game of Thrones season 8, then posted their reactions online thinking everyone was on the same page until they updated their group think programming to what most people were saying.
I swear if they made darkspawn like they did the orcs in the ring of power ima lose my shit. Oh the darkspawn arent really evil, they are just misunderstood.
The new designs don't bother me much in themselves, but I was always bummed that Inquisition mostly reduced them to just being interchangeable grunt enemies, whereas demon encounters in Origins were often a unique encounter with multiple outcomes depending on how you tried to deal (or make deals) with them. It made them feel like a bigger deal than just fighting another batch of mindless darkspawn.

Shame because their actual character designs look cool.
@abdeaubacktayes750 Probably because he played the same game I'm playing. Idk maybe we're both wrong, maybe Solas becomes more central in the later acts, or the other two gods become interesting.
Well... That's the common factor every time a game is woke. Super onedimentional characters. They don't see people, they just see labels.
The game feels like it was made by emotionally stunted Tumblr millennials so it tracks you can't be evil. It also makes me mad a lot of the OG creators have left. Inquisition visually and thematically feels better. I stand by the statement that Veilguard looks and feels like Fortnite (and feels soulless lol).

Most character creators try to give you tons of options to make a good looking character... Veilguard is the first game where they give you tons of options to make a terrible looking character. This game beats the Dark Souls series at creating hideous monsters and freaks to play as, lol.
It reminds me of a G-rated Disney Marvel movie. Do you actually ever kill a human or elf, or are all the enemies just "magical creatures" that never bleed. So Germany all over again
Strict control stripping away your rp element in a rpg.
@@Firebear31 The German localization for the game is actually unplayable. I hope charlie catches wind of it and makes a video on it.
The reason its so horrid is because the german language doesn't actually have the same words that the LGBTQ group has come up with. Meaning the dialogue in the german localization is just gibberish.
For example, here's what some of the dialogue would look like in English, from German:
"Hen is a capable fightere, but the leader*ess of the troupe is not a reasonable person:ess."
Now imagine the whole game's dialogue structured like this. What in the actual fuck, right?
@@A1phaz0ne so it's the Latinx all over again. I'm guessing German has gendered language as well, so neutralising it comes off as awkward.

@@mememaster9703 When it was fresh and original? Yeah, there absolutely was charm. Iron Man was a fun character in his movies, because in most superhero movies prior to Iron Man, most of the time the hero takes themselves way too seriously. It was a breath of fresh air to have a more lighthearted hero. It's become boring, dull and irritating because these days everyone is Iron Man, and I'm tired of the trope. Everything in moderation.
All they had to do was write a decent plot. Couldn't even do that.

@andypaul3788 wait what's wrong with it?
@drcheesecak3 dragon age has always had gays
I'm a Mass Effect guy so I didn't play Dragon Age, but I do know Bioware. Here's the immediate tell sign a company doesn't care about an IP and don't care for it: Changing its Genre radically from a dark fantasy, to something laid back friendly and more marketable to the masses. A action genre like the Avatar Airbender series can naturally go from kids to a teenager audience with Korra, but if you did a Comedy series and switched it into a War story where the characters die, you failed.

But IGN and other citics gave it 9/10 or even 10/10. How can it be bad if it's (according to professional critics) in the same ballpark as RDR2, Elden Ring, GTAV or TW3?

I'm convinced they fed the DA wiki to an AI to write their plot and script then hoped for the best.
Prompt 1: "Write a summary for a potential sequel in the Dragon Age series."
ChatGPT: "Ok, here you go:" [dumps a few paragraphs of AI wiki/fanfic-amalgamated cringe]
Prompt 2: "Expand on paragraph 1."
Prompts 3-1000: [continued "zoom and enhance" on elements of the summary until script is of sufficient word count]
Prompt 1001: "Rewrite each line of the main character's dialogue in a more direct/brutal tone." (to be used for the "renegade" options)
Never thought Sims 4 would get a medieval fantasy DLC.
1. Why does Varric not look like Varric?
2. Why does everyone look ugly? Where did the budget go?
3. Lack of weapon variety

Not being able to be evil in a choice based bioware game is a crime.
What "evil" choices existed in the previous games? You were always the hero.
@@threestars2164in the first game you could sell a bunch of elves to slavers, the city elf origin you can let your cousin get raped for money. in the second game you can also just straight up sell one of your companions back to his slaver owner… you were the hero in both games but you could still just be an objectively evil shithead, which is an option just like, not present in this game in the slightest
@@threestars2164 I’ve seen you make this kind of reply to other comments that expressed a similar opinion to this one.
In origins I can execute a child, and it’s a completely unnecessary option to take unless I kill Jowan in his cell. In origins I can also let my cousin get raped for money if I play a city elf, I can let elves be sold into slavery, and I can help Branka perfect golem making which requires a living person to be mutilated and physically molded into the golem, along with their soul being fucked with. Golems also have their free will made subservient to their master. There are of course even more evil options, those are just the ones that came to mind for me.
With all due respect I’m not sure why you are making these replies and why a small number of folks are giving them likes, as these replies of yours/their implications objectively aren’t true. You most certainly could choose to not be the hero in Origins at least, you could choose to just be a better option than the Darkspawn if that’s the kind of character you wished to play. VG does not offer this kind of RP potential and the game suffers for it.

You have a choice in the character creator. 2 male voices and 2 female ones, each with medium and low pitch.
The other male voice sounds miles better.
this is the least of this game’s worries, and despite how much greater effort bg3 had put into it, it had same problem with orc and dragonborn characters.
@@AC-ov5ny Yes, of course, RPGs for the longest time didn't have voice actors and they worked out just fine but it definitely doesn't help their case. Kind of resembles the current political climate. It's like people see and hear one thing, but then the media tells us the opposite. Very weird time to live in.
