This has been THE best explanation video on ribbon leis!! Granted I struggled at first, after rewinding it 5X’s or so. I got it, for the practice ribbon. Now I’ll try to complete it with the gift ribbon 🤞🏾
Great tutorial on how to make a two ribbon lei! Your instructions were clear and it was very easy to follow along. The first one I made took me an hour but I got the hang of it and the second one took 1/2 an hour. The trick is to keep the tension even without wrinkling the ribbon. I’m very pleased with how my leis turned out! Thank you!
Thank you for the refresher course. I’ve been making this type of lei since my children’s high school, college, law school, and MBA graduations. I think I’m done! Lol!
Clear, detailed, easy instructions! Thank you for posting this video and educating those of us who want to learn!!! I made a couple already and plan to make more for graduation!!! Love the ribbon leis because its a great forever memory keepsake!!
Great instructions. I’ve been making these for about 4 years but I’m never happy with the knots when I tie the ends together, they never look even. I was doing a different knot when I started it, I’m going to try your way. One tip for everyone is to prevent fraying of the tails of the ribbon you can run a little bit of clear nail polish across the edges. Some people use a lighter, but nail polish is safer especially if you have young kids around.
I tried other sites and they made it seem complicated, but your tone with instructions make the process seem so easy. And it was easy! I made two. Thank you kindly. 👏🏾
Y can’t I do this. I’m literally having a panic attack. I can’t start it. 😅😅😅 I do the bunny ears and then I get lost I’ve replayed your video 100x in the last hour
Oh no!! Let me try to explain here! After you make the bunny ears take one of them and stick the whole thing inside the other bunny ear. Do not pull the ribbon you just moved. Pull the opposite ribbon to tighten. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more clarification!
🤔Im so upset that. You can just do this effortlessly🤣🤣🤣It took me 30 min to start it properly. Im like wait... Why am I still holding the end. Then i let go and so did the ribbon🙄 Thanks girl!!! You did a great job on this💞
Polyester ribbon works just fine! Regarding the single faced, that’s just my own personal preference. I like the “shiny” part to show on the side when graduates wear it. It doesn’t make much a difference in pictures though because you can barely tell. Hope this helps!
Great tutorial! I was able to make this without making too many knots in the beginning, thanks! I used ribbon 3.6m (12ft) in length and it was not enough material. I hope 24ft is enough.
Thank you very much.... it was EASY N SIMPLE!!!! I used 5/8"x18ft..... and it's the prefect length!!! Now I just need to figure out how to put money in it.
hy Jenny is there any way in which I can contact u.. I wist to ask if u can make one of my graduation leis. hope here is a way I can contact u..thank u
Thank you so much for showing this instruction. This video is exactly what I wanna make for my brother graduation coming. Could You send me the name of two this color, please?
Jenny, please give me the link to where I can purchase the already made red & blue anchor lei directly from you or info on how to contact you for purchase. I have one week until my son's graduation. Thank you!
Yes! The ones I am using are pretty small, but you can definitely use wider ribbons. I've made some with 5/8" that is a great size if you're looking to make bigger ones
TIP: Get rid of the background music. It's very distracting. Also, please try not to refer to the other side of one-sided satin ribbon as "the ugly side". Call it the 'matte' side. Nice tutorial.

How many yards for each one???
Thank you for the refresher course. I’ve been making this type of lei since my children’s high school, college, law school, and MBA graduations. I think I’m done! Lol!
Thank you so much for explaining this in detail. I did struggle in the beginning but after about 10 mins of messing up I finally got it!!
Omg I did some with the 7/8 ribbon and a glitter ribbon! Turned out really nice!! Thank you!
I’m going to make some for my friends and I since we won’t be getting any for graduation 🥺 very easy instructions to follow, great vid🤍
Congratulations!! I hope you all can still find a way to celebrate your accomplishment! ♥︎
I rewatch this video every year during graduation season to make leis 🥳
Clear, detailed, easy instructions! Thank you for posting this video and educating those of us who want to learn!!! I made a couple already and plan to make more for graduation!!! Love the ribbon leis because its a great forever memory keepsake!!
Do you have to tie them together? Or can you leave them apart ?
Love this tutorial! So easy to follow and tone is so encouraging. ❤

Such a great tutorial, I've watched a few and they were just confusing. Can't wait to attempt it for my nephew.
You make it seem so easy with your step by step! Thanks! Will try to make it!👌😀👏
Making these for my sis, just needed a refresher after I learned it in Hawaii a few years back
Hope this video helped!
Love your tutorial, very easy to followed. Thank you so much for sharing this video 👍🏼
You are so welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful :)
Thank you so much! I’m not creative at all. This was so simple I got it on the first try. So Beautiful ❤️🙌🏼
Thank you for showing us how to do this! I learned very quickly❤️I will be doing some for my sisters and I ❤️❤️❤️
Thank You so much for this tutorial! I got the hang of it quick and made 2 for my son in about an hour!
I tried other sites and they made it seem complicated, but your tone with instructions make the process seem so easy. And it was easy! I made two. Thank you kindly. 👏🏾

Me too girl, me too 😩
Have you ever made those keychains with the plastics ropes the technique is just like making them!
I really enjoyed this tutorial! I made on in about 35 min. Thank you so much (:
Agreed . Very good and easy to fallow
You have such a cute voice! Great vid. Gonna make one of these for my little brother's graduation
This is totally random but her voice is comforting for some reason
I've always hated my voice so much, so this is a surprising yet nice compliment. Thank you :)
So pretty
I LEARNED THIS FOR MY KEY CLUB!!!
how did you do the loosely made red and white lei at the beginning of the video?
Thank you so much, I made one for my little sisters promotion and it came out great!
Easiest tutorial thanks will try out!
omayghad you teach very well and you are right that starting is the hardest hahaha i thought i wouldn't learm
I'm glad you were able to learn!! Never give up :)
Thank you for your clean explanation, can’t wait to try it out
🤔Im so upset that. You can just do this effortlessly🤣🤣🤣It took me 30 min to start it properly. Im like wait... Why am I still holding the end. Then i let go and so did the ribbon🙄 Thanks girl!!! You did a great job on this💞
That time of year and I'm ready for a crash course 🤣😂
How many yards of ribbon each lei to use though?
Learned how to made it in 10 minutes 😀,good video
I love it and it's so easy. Thank you!!!
If you want to make it a foot and a half how much ribbon should I use?
best upclose, and detailed video i came across!!! thank you so much...
Me about to do this myself bcz I’m not walking through stage ☹️ 6/17/2020 Corona Virus
Aww I’m so sorry, I hope you can still try and celebrate your graduation! Congratulations on your accomplishment ❤️
Great video. Question, how many inches of ribbon of each color is needed? I think I missed that.
Did you use the ugly side at the very first loop and the last loop? Rest is shiny ya? Thanks!
Nice idea
Thanks i make one for my son he graduation ist may 2021. I hope looks like yours
Hi is it 172 inches per color or for both
Why do some of the leis look different though?
How long do the ribbons need to be ?
About 5 yards
What size ribbon do you use for this one ?
I'm using 3/8 inch ribbon in this video!
I love this! Would it be possible to do this with a 5/8 ribbon?
How long is the finished lei with your suggestion of 5yds of ribbons each ?
What are the names of the colors you used ?
thx
The length depends on how tightly you braid the lei. I would say it is about 16 inches in length.
I ordered royal blue and dandelion yellow!
What if we want them to be less bulkier?
I haven't tried using smaller ribbons but that might help to make them less bulky!
Jenny, is it always one shiny side up, one not?? or after starting are they both shiny up going thru?
After starting make sure they are both shiny up going through
I'm a bit confused on the shiny side verses the dull. When you look at the right side, is only the shiny side showing or does the dull side also show?
how do you make one with 3 colors?
How much ribbon do you need to make a lei? How long should I cut each ribbon?
Cut ~5 yards (15 feet) for 3/8" ribbon
Very good job imma try it but how would you attach money on it?
Fold your bills accordion style and use thin ribbons and tie them through the thicker ribbon.
How many yards would you use for a 6 year old kid?
Does it matter if it is not single faced??? 100% polyester is all I could find locally in correct colors
Polyester ribbon works just fine! Regarding the single faced, that’s just my own personal preference. I like the “shiny” part to show on the side when graduates wear it. It doesn’t make much a difference in pictures though because you can barely tell. Hope this helps!
I’m making this for my niece since she won’t have a proper graduation :( Go class of 2020!!!
What kind of ribbon? sounds like paper ribbon? How wide?
Satin ribbon (I'm using single-faced) 3/8" from www.papermart.com/p/fabric-satin-ribbon/9914?searchitemnumber=490370
Hello, how wide is the ribbon you used and how long should I cut them? Thank you your video is the nicest one I've found
The width is 3/8” and she said she is using about 5 yards
How long is the Lei when it’s finish ??
It really depends on how tightly you braid it. It is about 16 inches in length
I live in Germany. What do you use them for?
Graduations.
Hi. Was wondering what colored ribbon did you order from paper mart to make this lei
Hi, I ordered gold and royal blue!
How wide does the 3/8" lei become??
About an inch, you can use bigger sized ribbon if you want the lei to be larger
Hi may i know the ribbon side
3/8!
How much ribbon of each color do you use in this video?
~5 yards of each ribbon!
Wow you make it so easy...I bet I'll mess it up i f I do it
Like everything, it’s hard to learn at first. But with practice, you’ll be a pro! 🙂
Para que se pueden utilizar esas trenzas de cinta que quedan tan lindas deme una respuesta por favor un saludo desde chile
Thanks Jenny you are the best.
Awesome tutorial! Here a bit late lol, Do you do 5 yards of each color?
Yes, 5 yards of each color :)
How long was the yards to make this lei?
~5 yards each
Great tutorial! I was able to make this without making too many knots in the beginning, thanks! I used ribbon 3.6m (12ft) in length and it was not enough material. I hope 24ft is enough.
Yay! I am very happy to hear that this tutorial helped you! I cut my ribbon 172 inches, which is about 14 feet (~5 yards).
Thanks!
Thank you very much.... it was EASY N SIMPLE!!!! I used 5/8"x18ft..... and it's the prefect length!!!
Now I just need to figure out how to put money in it.
You can tie the money from back to front using a thin 1/8" ribbon. It is easy to separate the braid to slip the thin ribbon through.
thank you so much!!!!
Very nice instructions.👍 I had little trouble catching on.
Can I get the song you used? I would really appreciate that 😊
hy Jenny is there any way in which I can contact u.. I wist to ask if u can make one of my graduation leis.
hope here is a way I can contact u..thank u

How many yards of each color do we need to make the lei ?
Nice
How long was each of your ribbon?
5 yards each
Thank you so much for showing this instruction. This video is exactly what I wanna make for my brother graduation coming. Could You send me the name of two this color, please?
Vu
Thanks for the tutorial! My first try came out really loose. . . should it be "stretchy" when done or pretty firm? I'm using 5/8" ribbon. Thanks!
It should be firm enough but not too firm! Try pulling the opposite ribbon after you put the loop in a little tighter.
Hello, are you selling the red & blue anchor lei? also, where did you purchase the ribbon to make it? I can't seem to find any. Thanks!
Yes, for $20! www.papermart.com/fabric-satin-ribbon/id=9970?SearchItemNumber=490350 single faced ribbon, 100 yards 3/8"
Thanks! If I want to purchase the one you made already, Is there a link Or website to buy it from?
MadameButterfly 🙃
Jenny, please give me the link to where I can purchase the already made red & blue anchor lei directly from you or info on how to contact you for purchase. I have one week until my son's graduation. Thank you!
Bit what length is it 😭
She said 5ft
Lo he visto varias veces y es confuso
How many yards you need?
I like to use 172 inches, which is about 4.8 yards (~5 yards)!
Do the graduates wear the lei during or after graduation
After
So easy. Thank you for sharing !!
About how long time wise does it take you too finish one ? Thanks in advance😊
Brenda Robles Once you get the hang of it, it should take about 15-25 minutes! 😊
Jenny Nguyen thank you so much I'm going to give it a try soon 😊
Great video👍
Thank you so much! I am going to try to film another video of how to make a double braided ribbon lei soon 😊
Awesome. Thanks so much
Great tutorial! What width ribbon are you using?
Thanks for sharing, also order my ribbons through papermart.
Hoping to make these from my squad and me! How long does it usually take you to make one lei?
Eddie Pollau once you get the hang of it, I would say it takes about 15-25 minutes!
Once you get the hang of it, it should only take about 25 minutes! Good luck :)
If I want to make a wider lei do I use wider ribbons?
Yes! The ones I am using are pretty small, but you can definitely use wider ribbons. I've made some with 5/8" that is a great size if you're looking to make bigger ones
Do you a tutorial using 3 different color ribbons?
Thank you for info. I wish I can show you the one I did see if I did it right
The music choice is a little hectic and distracting😩
sorry! I realized this after I posted the video. My next ribbon lei video will be better :)
Do you sale them? If so for how much? Thanks.
Yes I am! $10
I Made. Also show to my son. AND he tell me oh no. Am not used that no no. .omg. He broke my HEARt
TIP: Get rid of the background music. It's very distracting. Also, please try not to refer to the other side of one-sided satin ribbon as "the ugly side". Call it the 'matte' side. Nice tutorial.
