Ribbon Lei Tutorial with Two Ribbons 🎓

- Hi everyone,
This is how I like to make my two ribbon graduation leis! I am using single faced ribbon 3/8" from www.papermart....
I love this website because the ribbon is a great price: $3.44 for each roll.
It comes with 100 yards, so you can make about 20 leis!
Have fun with making these ribbon leis!

This has been THE best explanation video on ribbon leis!! Granted I struggled at first, after rewinding it 5X’s or so. I got it, for the practice ribbon. Now I’ll try to complete it with the gift ribbon 🤞🏾
Great tutorial on how to make a two ribbon lei! Your instructions were clear and it was very easy to follow along. The first one I made took me an hour but I got the hang of it and the second one took 1/2 an hour. The trick is to keep the tension even without wrinkling the ribbon. I’m very pleased with how my leis turned out! Thank you!

Y can’t I do this. I’m literally having a panic attack. I can’t start it. 😅😅😅 I do the bunny ears and then I get lost I’ve replayed your video 100x in the last hour
Oh no!! Let me try to explain here! After you make the bunny ears take one of them and stick the whole thing inside the other bunny ear. Do not pull the ribbon you just moved. Pull the opposite ribbon to tighten. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more clarification!

Great instructions. I’ve been making these for about 4 years but I’m never happy with the knots when I tie the ends together, they never look even. I was doing a different knot when I started it, I’m going to try your way. One tip for everyone is to prevent fraying of the tails of the ribbon you can run a little bit of clear nail polish across the edges. Some people use a lighter, but nail polish is safer especially if you have young kids around.
Such a great tutorial, I've watched a few and they were just confusing. Can't wait to attempt it for my nephew.

Thank you very much.... it was EASY N SIMPLE!!!! I used 5/8"x18ft..... and it's the prefect length!!!
Now I just need to figure out how to put money in it.
You can tie the money from back to front using a thin 1/8" ribbon. It is easy to separate the braid to slip the thin ribbon through.
Great tutorial! I was able to make this without making too many knots in the beginning, thanks! I used ribbon 3.6m (12ft) in length and it was not enough material. I hope 24ft is enough.

It should be firm enough but not too firm! Try pulling the opposite ribbon after you put the loop in a little tighter.

I'm a bit confused on the shiny side verses the dull. When you look at the right side, is only the shiny side showing or does the dull side also show?

Fold your bills accordion style and use thin ribbons and tie them through the thicker ribbon.

The length depends on how tightly you braid the lei. I would say it is about 16 inches in length.

Does it matter if it is not single faced??? 100% polyester is all I could find locally in correct colors
Polyester ribbon works just fine! Regarding the single faced, that’s just my own personal preference. I like the “shiny” part to show on the side when graduates wear it. It doesn’t make much a difference in pictures though because you can barely tell. Hope this helps!

TIP: Get rid of the background music. It's very distracting. Also, please try not to refer to the other side of one-sided satin ribbon as "the ugly side". Call it the 'matte' side. Nice tutorial.
If I want to make a wider lei do I use wider ribbons?
Yes! The ones I am using are pretty small, but you can definitely use wider ribbons. I've made some with 5/8" that is a great size if you're looking to make bigger ones
