Are you having neck pain due to cervical spinal stenosis and your doctor has recommended neck surgery? Check out the tools Dr. Cantor uses for his surgeries for higher success rates. Dr. Cantor is devoted to advancing the field of spinal surgery through safer, innovative, and transformative techniques. His practice is grounded in motion-preserving and function-sparing spinal surgery, with an emphasis on fusion alternative surgery for the treatment of cervical stenosis, lumbar stenosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, spinal deformity, and other disabling spinal problems. Through methodical research, outcome analysis, and embracing cutting edge technology, Dr. Cantor has developed new and novel process, techniques, and procedures pioneering the use of ultrasonic technology to completely change the way spinal surgery is done, redefining, and moving minimal invasive surgery into the future.
His work is inspired by the shortcomings of traditional spinal surgery. When using the current, dated, spinal surgery methods, the process of relieving painful pressure from nerves involves removing some of the necessary supports of the spine. The anatomical parts, that hold us up and keeps us strong and mobile, are disabled. With traditional surgery, the structures that have been removed are replaced with fusions, supported by rods and screws. Mobility is lost, function is compromised and pain often recurs within an unacceptably short period of time. These surgically created changes in the structures of the spine can often lead to the eventual need for additional surgeries.
Dr. Cantor has invested the necessary time and effort to master the use of the most sophisticated new surgical tools and techniques to offer their patients different and better spinal surgery. His in depth understanding of, and the use of ultrasonic technology, has enabled him to achieve a level of safety and precision that is not possible with traditional spine surgery tools and lasers and is their platform for a completely different surgical process. The “Ultrasonic” vibrating blade dissolves painful bone spurs and can be used safely, even in direct contact with delicate nerves. When it touches your finger, it feels like an electric toothbrush, but the ultrasonic blade will cut through a painful bone spur "like a hot knife through butter". This process makes "precision" spinal surgery possible. Painful bone spurs are dissolved from the inside out. Only what is pinching the nerve is removed. The normal and necessary structures of the spine are not disrupted. Function and normal mobility are preserved and abnormal stresses are not created. This negates the need for many spinal fusions, and the accompanying screws and rods. Fixing one problem does not create three others. This technique is a “value” for patients seeking a lifestyle preserving, long lasting solution for their spine problems.
    Benefits:
    • Preservation of normal spinal anatomy
    • Preserved function and mobility
    • Greater than 90% reduction in the number of spinal fusions
    • Reduction in the use of rods and screws needed for spinal fusion
    • The smallest possible incision
    • Reduction in surgical pain
    • Reduction in opioid use
    • Dramatic reduction in blood loss
    • Almost complete elimination of use of blood transfusions
    • Shorter hospital stays
    • Fewer complications
    • Faster and easier recovery
At the Cantor Spine Institute, compassionate care combined with continuous innovation is our distinctive approach. Resolving spinal problems without surgery is always our first plan, but when that has not allowed our patients to reach their goals, they need to be well prepared, well educated, informed and confident. Surgery needs to be minimally invasive, well planned, well executed, safer and “better.” The Cantor Spine Institute is dedicated to delivering the best patient care across the entirety of the patient journey, and we’re proud to have an expert medical team that is aligned in the constant goal of getting our patients what they need...to get “better.”

Thank you for your help with questions I’ve had. I’ve been diagnosed with cervical stenosis in C5. C6. Or it’s C6. C7
I forget which one. Anyhow they said for me it’s hereditary. Never knew I had it let alone it’d hereditary.
I’m 51 this month. And I feel issues in my lower back as I do my daily walk. NEVER seem to have a walk w/o pain. It hurts The front of my right thigh and slightly on the left thigh goes number
Do you think if one has spinal stenosis in the cervical spine area that may be it could show up in the lower lumbar area? Essentially both ends of my spine
Also. My guess is the extra weight I carry does exacerbate the issue.
What do you think? Thank you for your time. Rose in Texas

I have severe cervical stenosis at C5-6 and C6-7. Have you had success with the ultrasound tools in severe cases? Thank you.

Question: if I had previous fusions etc (C2-5) ; (T6-8); (L1-S1) and was now informed I have to have further surgery for C6/7 & T8-10.
Injuries related to motor vehicle accident. Challenge encountered Is lack of fusion.
Even reconstruction to my face has the same challenge.
I am in South Africa. But is there is any hope I will travel.

    **cervical laminectomy fusion**
I’m almost 3 months in and if I move a certain way or get a hug (not even a tight hug) I get vibrations down my entire body or in the palm of my hands or legs ... I’m a bit scared ? Unsure if this has happen to anyone?!

On February 15th, 2021 I had neck surgery to fuse my C3-C6. The surgery was highly successful but I had significant swallowing issues that followed a few days afterwards. Unfortunately, stenosis has developed at my C7 and T1. I've agreed for my surgeon to perform another surgery to fuse the C7 bur no action will be agreed upon at this time to repair the T1 because it will requires a posterior procedure which means more extended recovery time and a fair amount of pain and discomfort. Moreover, if I understood from an earlier video, in far too many instances the procedure leaves the patient unhappy and regretting having agreed to it. I sure hope my surgeon uses the ultrasonic tool and my plan is to inquire about inserting an artificial disc instead of more fusion. Would you recommend an artificial disc coupled with the fact a fusion for C3-C6 has already been performed?
