@@martinroner5688 wars are cruel but hardely ever pointless.
World War 2 was basically the allied forces advocating for democracy and overall a more free society vs socialist dictatorship.
When you break down the history of each nation, each side has its own motivation for fighting in WWII and while history has labelled the axis as the villains and the allies as the heroes it is far deeper than this.
Yes the allied forces fought against a bunch of regime which were a lot more dictatorial valueing the individual far less than the allied nations but the rise of the germans in wwII wasn't uncalled for.
After the end of the first war, germany was placed under severe restriction which banned them from building weapons and developing their military. A lot other industries were also kept under tight supervision which in the long run ended up making life for german citizens very difficult as jobs were hard to come by so people earning their livelihood was a huge problem. The reason why the leader of the germans in WWII had so much support from its people is because it provided its citizens with what they needed most, resources and jobs to live a better life. In turn the germans turned against everyone who they considered responsible for their hardships but they did it in the most abhorable way, claiming the lives of innocent civilians of all types of ethnicities.
So in a way Germany itself was at first a victim but it soon after became the aggressor taking its revenge of those who had no blame in their hardships.
Again claiming wars are useless may seem noble at first but every right you have today, EVERY SINGLE FREEDOM YOU HAVE TODAY was earned through the blood of our ancestors fighting for a better life. So if you live in the western world, no, wars were not useless and the people who died should be honored for being the heroes who made our lives what they are today.
Always remember your history, and learn from it in order to avoid repeating it in the future. And as far as wars are concerned, i'll say it again very few wars in the history of humanity were pointless.

@@martinroner5688 what im saying is the way the west is portraing the history of germany in the WWII is very often unfair.
From what i have read even germans themselves are extremely harsh with their own history demonizing it heavily on that particular time period.
Yes, there's somethings to be demonized but there's always a cause and effect. Also, if germany won the 2nd war the entire rhetoric about villains vs heroes would be different :)
I dont know how you perceived my message but I wasn't being negative or positive about it. I was saying there's a lot more shades than good or bad :)
