- In this video, Richard Dawkins and Alex O'Connor discuss what Dawkins calls "The most evil idea in the New Testament" & then a Christian uses the Bible to react to this claim. I hope you find this beneficial and encouraging... and.. dare I say... convicting.

I used to think Richard Dawkins was some giant intellectual threat to Christianity… now that I’ve heard him out, I realize it’s the other way around, Christianity is a giant threat to his intellect.
Well said.
That's a good observation.
He's intellectually dishonest, with a built-in bias against the Creator, so why would anyone trust him as an evolutionist?
The more people who believe, the less foothold Satan has in general
All science is a threat to christianity/religion
Kind of weird to consider something so evil when you don’t actually believe in objective right and wrong.
Good point 😅
I believe in objective truth and I believe God is that truth so for me it’s not subjective at all.
@SydneyBell-eh6je theists all follow an objective moral code that God gave us that we all subconsciously agree to. It's how we know homosexuality is wrong intuitively, all across the planet.
@SydneyBell-eh6je it's not subjective. God objectively exists, He has set an objective standard outside human minds, and we try to follow that to the best of our ability. But we don't point to our subjective individual opinions, we point to the objective absolute morality that God has established
@SydneyBell-eh6je In other words, you agree that Dawkins is wrong in making matter-of-fact statements about anything being objectively evil, including anything in the Bible?
As a former atheist, I used to revere Dawkins, but after being saved and watching this I realize how ignorant he is on the Bible which is striking to me now. He’s obviously a very intelligent person which makes it even more striking. He’s clearly never read or made an attempt to understand the Bible before making his claims which is in itself very unscientific!
Agree 100%
It's really quite appalling, particularly: the pride. It just exudes from him, as though from his very pours. I, as well, struggle to see what I used to revere in the man. Perhaps it was just the reflection of my own pride, and my own desire to destroy, that was working in me.
It's really quite pitiable - a tragedy, of sorts.
Intelligence often if not always comes with pride, which is the main stumbling block for many who consider themselves superior than thou!
Did you become a Christian by reading and making an attempt to understand the Bible? Or did you become a Christian through a personal experience or through a time of despair you were going through? Or a chick or dude?
I think when we are young, that rebellious energy attract us. When we grow old, it looks very cringe, and Dawkins looks like someone that never grew up.
Most people i know that had problems with religious stuff in their life were when they were teens and had rigid parents, once they left their house, religion never made a difference for them to be so rebellious. That is why i assume (of course, not generalize) that when there is a bitter atheist, that this person is very likely teen.
However, when i was atheist, i still disliked Dawkins, because i was skeptic enough to be skeptic to some of his claims and i disliked his arrogance.
But i had this energy in the atheist community of the time.
An old saying:
You don't need to teach a child to be bad, you do need to teach a child to be good.
And if you want to make a good person do bad things, just give them religion.
@taylortetu8663 that's true, religion is bad. Christianity is relationship with Christ 👏

Just think if you criticized his book...but then everything you said indicated you've never read it...🤔. Nobody would consider that smart...so why does he get a pass🤣🤦♂️
If the Bible couldn’t grant us the right to look down on our neighbors, mock their understanding, denigrate their accomplishments, and condemn their belief, which is exactly what the first book of it is dedicated to, and the most valued purpose for it , today, it would be as shunned, despised, and avoided as any other book authored by a murderer.

This is the evidence: "The prince of the power of the air (Satan) works through the sons of disobedience..." - Also, how you can refute something when you haven't even gone through the effort of actually studying that which you try to refute is purely Satan blinding you from the Truth... this man is advanced in his years and close to death... let us continually pray he finds Jesus Christ before he dies... for Every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess Jesus is LORD, whether they believe in Him or not, and if your name is not written in the book of life, I fear it the 2nd death eternal death that awaits you. Well I was an atheist.. I mean I am still searching… but the idea of sin was actually the most “duh” to me, because all it takes is to look around and reflect on your life.
To me, God is the best explanation for Life.
The thing is that we as believers, have had our spiritual eyes open and now we can see the beauty of the Cross. This man knows in his heart that God exists but is refusing Him at every turn. I pray for him and hope that one day soon, he will finally see what we see, before he takes his final breath. Maranatha King Jesus!
It’s that small voice within him that makes him doubt his own certainty.
As an agnostic, I think I can see the beauty of the Cross, but the people who decide turn from their sins for Jesus' sake, still don't deserve to not pay for their sins. I mean they should pay for them, but not eternally, but as long as they need.
There's evidence that the so-called born again Christians still sin every day.
If entering heaven demands perfection from every and each of us, a substitutionary payment won't solve any problems. It's basically cheating the system.
I know Christians argue that people who were born again in this life, will become perfect after their resurrection, but as long as they are the same person with memories from this life, they are prone to fall into sin over and over again even in heaven!
There's a huge contradiction there!
Just how we can solve that if we must believe we will be the same person after our resurrection and not some other people who will resemble us, but won't have our memories?
People don't realize this is how everything works in life. We sacrifice the life of plants and animals so our flesh bodies can live so there had to be a sacrifice so our souls could live. TC

If we aren't born into sin, then it should be no problem for Dawkins to name at least 5 people he knows who have never done anything bad in their lifetime. I'm betting he can't name one.
I can name one, but not five.
Jesus.
How are you so unaware that the concept of sin and people doing bad things aren't the same thing? I can't understand why anyone would need this explaining to them. Fascinating.
@@T_J_ doing bad things is sinning. Sin means missing the mark, so if someone does something objectively bad, they have sinned, so they are the same thing.
@@Eme281 I suggest you re-read my comment. If you still don't get it, let me know.

I believe that when the Pharisees said that Christ cast out demons by the power of the devil, there were no more opportunities left for them...sad.
I haven't thought of that but yes they blasphemed the Holy Ghost when they did that. TC

I have much more respect for Alex O'Connor than I have for Richard Dawkins.
Why do you have to teach a child to be good. You don’t have to teach children to t do wrong.
So this means we are born as sinners?

I think he will die in peace and no need to believe in fairy tales.
@@joeleniola9140you might want to start gathering up to date facts and grouping them together, to compare against your current understanding that it's a fairly tale and you will likely be surprised.
Instead of looking at the Bible as an umbrella that covers everything, start gathering facts about the Bible and modern science and think of each of these as a brick, one on top of another, building the case for it likely being true, it starts making a lot more sense that way.
He already died
Alex understands the bible so well, better than many Christians. What is left in him is conviction. We should pray for him
We have a problem with the meaning of "sin" because we focus on ourselves. When you look at the absolute holiness and perfection of God, then you understand why "falling short", at even the most minute level, CANNOT be accepted as righteousness without the blood of Yeshua.
Always impressed with Alex O'Connor.

@@SmilingCamperVan-fn4em I agree and people just dont seem able to see that. alex is a *hard* atheist with a cold intellect. Only ambitious to be a consistent atheist.
Your description of Jesus on the cross as the true example of heroism that all heroic stories refer to is an excellent point. I hadn't thought of it that way.
It's not. A sacrifice in place of the deeds of others is unjust and immoral. It would never be allowed in today's justice systems.
@nitsujism Respectfully, I hardly think that modem courts are where we should seek the standard for justice. God is the standard. Jesus gave His life to pay the price for our sins. What an incredible thing for Him to do for us. And it satisfied God's perfect justice. We know that because God raised him from the dead to show that he had paid the penalty for sin. The only reason that Jesus could do that was because he didn't have to pay a penalty for his own sin, so he could pay the penalty in place of us.
@@user-re9kr3el3c The courts do just fine with justice. Even if they're not perfect, the idea of justice is leap years ahead of the Christian idea of justice which frankly just harks back to a more barbaric time. Jesus didn't give anything. He was captured by the Romans and killed. His followers did not expect this to happen so rather than ditch the cult they concocted a story about human sacrifice. This paying for sins with sacrifices business is just made up to save face. It's amazing that people fall for it.
@@nitsujism When Jesus made his final trip to Jerusalem for Passover, he knew that he was going to die, but he went anyway. When he went to the garden to pray, he knew that Judas was going to betray him and turn him over to the Jewish leaders. He didn't hide or try to evade them. When he stood before the high priest and the Sanhedrin council, he said nothing in his own defense. When he stood before Pilate and later Herod, he said nothing in his own defense. When Pilate again tried to get Jesus to give him a reason to let him go, he would not. Yes, Jesus gave his life. It was not taken from him. (John 10:17-18).
As for the disciples "saving face" by concocting "a story about human sacfifice" to pay for sin, you are right that the disciples didn't seem to expect Jesus to be crucified, even though he had told them he must die repeatedly. It seems pretty unlikely that they made this up, though, for many reasons. Among them is the fact that most of them would be shunned, imprisoned, and killed for their profession of belief in Jesus. Given the way the Christian message spread over the next 30 years and beyond, despite immense persecution, it seems much more likely that they truly believed it.
@@nitsujismWhy did God become man? To solve the Human Dilemma. God is merciful but just. Man sinned. God’s justice demands restitution. Forgiveness without restitution is not justice. Restitution must be given equal to the damages done. But sin against an infinitely holy God demands infinite restitution. No way can man pay. That’s the Human Dilemma. Only an infinitely holy person can atone. Only God. He didn’t have to, but He had to. And He did. God’s mercy satisfied His justice by His sacrifice. God will not be outdone by man in sacrificial love. So yes. God died in the flesh. He will judge us, as one of us. That’s fair. And no, God did not cease to exist. The Trinity.
Love it Brother! Thank you and keep the Truth coming.
The two things that speak to me most about the legitimacy of the Bible are the idea that I can see the power and glory of God in his creation (nature and the universe) and the sinfulness of man. I recognize that description of human sinfulness because I see my own propensity to do things I shouldn't do and to take pleasure in doing things I know are wrong.

How do you have disdain for something you don't believe exists?

Well, because wherever or not he believes that this thing exist is irrelevant. Because this thing still has real life consequences on people. He is disgusted by the effects that it does to people that follow and believe such things
I saw how passionate you got there towards the end. Not something you normally do in your videos, but I understand completely. And I support you and thank God for your ministry. I have learnt so much of how to give a reason for our hope through watching your videos
You did get a bit more "preachier" than normal! But that's good my friend....you're not ashamed of the Cross of Jesus. Thank you.
It’s interesting how Dawkins refers to science as universal, and that religions aren’t, but the word “Catholic” comes from the Greek word “katholikos” which means universal or all-embracing.
And of course the catch is that no religious body is universal, whereas, for example, gravity is, and water molecules always consist of 2 atoms of hydrogen plus 1 of oxygen. Etc.
Universal religion is Antichrist. The Catholic church is a Luciferian cult. Keeping the commandments for salvation, praying to Mary and confessing to a "father" who is not Jesus Christ is completely unbiblical.
That's the look of a man who's beginning to question his entire existence and everything he's ever done. God's forgiveness will find this man.
I think he’s starting to see it too, it becomes clear when you see what the world becomes when people reject their maker.
Amen Brother!!!!!! Thank you for showing all this and then tying it up with God's Word. In Jesus' Name..... Thank you!
The ignorance of that which Dawkins has been arguing against for decades is truly shocking. In this respect he is massively outclassed by Connor.
The ultimate form of sacrificial love is hideous according to him. Alright, Dawkins.
What's hideous is the alleged purpose of the sacrifice. The claim about redemption from Original Sin seems to be derived from a cynical attempt by Church authorities to extend the life of the Jesus cult beyond the timespan implied in Mark 13.
@@PastPresented What's hideous is your ignorance about it all. The purpose of the sacrifice is to give mankind the possibility to be with God after having rejected God. Not in any way could that ever be hideous, whether or not you believe in God. Philosophically speaking it simply by definition can not be hideous.
@@wulfheort8021Somebody being sacrificed for the deeds of others is unjust, unethical and immoral. That the sacrifice was a crucifixion was barbaric and bloodthirsty.
@nitsujism
Think about the homeless people because of alcohol and drugs..
Then the people/organizations helping them to get back on their feet are doing a hideous thing.
I dont think this kind of thinking should be encouraged.
@@wulfheort8021 _"to give mankind the possibility to be with God after having rejected God"_ only works if the Garden of Eden story is true. Replace "original sin" with a rational concept of human mental development, and the notion seems very ugly.

So close to God, yet so far away.
He studies god everyday in his career and is blind to it.
That is so dumb, why would God not just show up. Must I remind you all of Saul who turns to Paul. Jesus showed himself, why not do that now?
@@joeleniola9140 Will you be ready? He wants us to be ready at all times. Luke 12:40, "You too, be ready: because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not think He will." If we knew when Jesus is coming back we would live the way we want up to that point, and not be ready or see the urgency to turn to Jesus. Paul was used by God to write some of the books in the Bible, but Scripture is now closed off to additional books (Revelation 22:18-19). This was my thought before knowing Jesus. I would live for myself up to the point just before I die, and then repent of my sins and turn to Jesus. It didn't happen that way. God doesn't promise us we will even be given that moment, so like Jesus said, we need to be ready at all times.

The real BATTLE is not Atheists VS. Theists.....
all human beings have to fight for their own lives, dignities, and existence, no fence sitters, the BATTLE to the DEATH
is

that he is using Atheism, Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and all kinds of Religions
to produce and breed arrogant, cruel, hateful, and merciless persons
and fill the world with the Satanic LIES and false claims that -
1. the Bible is a just worthless book of lies, myths, fictions, fantasies, and fairy tales
2. the Creator is worthless, useless, and undeserving to be honored and respected as the True and Sovereign God
3. Jesus Christ is worthless, useless, and undeserving to be honored and respected as the Creator's Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth

that his favor and reward of ETERNAL LIFE and existence on earth without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death
as written in Revelation 21: 3, 4
is
definitely NOT for Atheists, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and all arrogant, cruel, hateful, and merciless slaves of Satan the Devil
but
ONLY for lowly, ordinary, kind, and respectful persons on earth
who
willingly honor and obey Jesus Christ as their Master and Heavenly King and put their faith and hope in his teachings about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead"
as written in Luke 4: 43 and John 11: 25, 26
Jesus Christ KNOWS
that his teaching about the "Resurrection of the Dead"
is
NOT for Atheists, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and all arrogant, cruel, hateful, and merciless persons
but
the Creator's guarantee that all loving, kind, and respectful persons on earth who died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Job, Ruth, Naomi, King David, his Followers and disciples, and many others,
will
all be RESURRECTED back to life in the right and proper time so they can happily, abundantly, and peacefully live and exist on earth forever
as subjects and citizens of the "KINGDOM of GOD"
and fully enjoy his and the Creator's eternal love, kindness, goodness, generosities, compassions, favors, and blessings for eternity
under his loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection as the Creator's Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth as written in Revelation 11: 15.
