Hands down the most informative set up video ive seen anywhere on the internet period!! Dude been through the struggle and hated it, wished on no one, took matters into his freehand and unknowingly made the greatest instructional video yet!!!🥇🥇📽
Just what I am looking for. I'm completely done with E-flite airplanes and like the FMS designs much better. I own an NX-8 TX and this vid tells me what I need to know for binding. Subscribed at 4.94K - you're getting close to 5K! 🛩
Just found your channel. Using ExpressLRS 6 channel rcvr on my Super Cub 1.3, Fun Cub NG, Kingfisher, etc. Thanks for showing me how to hook up the Reflex V3. I fly Radiomaster TX16S and the Boxer, etc. Thanks!
Thanks. Its important, I found, to rebind the AR610 after connecting to the Reflex gyro, as you did in the video. I bouns the Rx before fitting and when I powered up the plane it wouldn't initialise and the sticks were 'dead'. Rding fixed it. I was doing this on an FMS SuperEZ, with 2 aileron servos on a single channel. The stock RTF transmitter has a reversal on this channel, so reversal needs to be on the Spektrum transmitter too. Because the Reflex is separate to the Rx I don't perceive this being an issue (unlike on Spektrum AS3X Rx units), and a visual check in Stabilisation mode confirms the gryo directs the ailerons correctly. Thanks
If it had gear and flaps and you only had a 6 channel receiver and a 6 channel transmitter then you would not have any chanells to change flight modes. In that example you would need 7 channel receiver and transmitter or up to be able to change flight modes
Great video thank you, I have the NX8 and an AR631 already but the Ranger yet. So not having all this in front of me yet just one question please, do I need any extra cables to make all these connections to/from the receiver and the reflex and the plane?
Couple questions how do you set it up if your plane has gear if you flip your gear to lower or raise the gear you would shut off or turn on the reflex. Also does the reflex help with p factor on warbirds?
But can you use it if you have seperate servos for each aileron? because i have a plane that has elevons which do the roll and pitch, and each one has its own servo. How would that work? thanks
Hi Shawn. A dumb question for you that has me a bit concerned. I have my FMS Bonnie all hooked up. It has reflex and I am using a Spektrum 8020T receiver. All the basics seem to work alright. I have to reverse a couple òf things but thet are working. Nòw I want to set up the fliĝht modes for beginners, wind and expert. This should work off the Reflex, but do I enable or set it up through my Spectrum forward programming like as3x and safe.. secondly when usi g the reflex flight controller my Spektrum receiver should not have as3x and safe in it hence my choice of the 8020T vs the 630. Cheers Bob
Hi Sean. Any idea what is the default of the gyro if I use it out of the box. Btw I am using the reflex in a brand other than fms, so why I need to program it
@@hayloft3834 yes of course, one will need to test the movement of the control surfaces until getting the correct movement or changing the position of the gyro and restarting it every time. But usually the high wing models are slower in response compared to jets/edf. In spektrum this is know as gain. So there is 1x gain and 2x gain etc so adjust the speed of response. I just wanted to mention that the FMS reflex is adjustable. I have been using it a lot and I like it more than the spektrum asx3 since they much easier to use. I am sure there will be some gurus out there who know how to reprogram it. Anyways I use them mainly for more smooth my flights.
Well done Shaun, shame you didn't demonstrate the effects of the vector/reflex by lifting up the plane and rolling then simply switching to the 3 positions and showing that 1. The ailerons move and stay there(safe) 2. Nothing happens. 3. Ailerons move then quickly return to normal (as3x) Stability. Arrows call it Vector. FMS call it Reflex. Same box of trickery
One question. You did say "don't remove it" but i have used a spectrum reciver with safe in my FMS Skytrainer, so i have the V2 sitting on my shelf. I wan't to use it now but with another plane (The 100mm larger FMS Cessna 182), so is this not a good idea than? Thanks Sir
Great video AGAIN! I had no idea about this. Hey, here is an idea, show us what you do for a living, NAH, never mind. Thanks buddy. I enjoy them all. Have a great on one.
I am waiting for the next one. Loved the first one and the short one as well. It's my feeble attempt at humor. I also made a comment about your work seat, I want one, but wow $$$@@GRIFFINRCPLANES
you can also change the RX channel assignments to match the Reflex outputs - that way you connect exactly how it says in the instructions. Six of one, half dozen of another...
Thanks for the video. So I guess you can't install the Reflex II in a non-FMS plane, right? Don't they have to be installed in an FMS plane in a specific location and have the programming for that particular plane in the Reflex II?
Shaun, I enjoy your videos very much. Learned tons from you and thanks much. Just wanted to know if you have ever used a ar630 or the ar631 in an fms 182? Would it work?
Hey Shaun, you've been at the Bud kite, I've checked both Reflex and Vector and both state channel 1 Aileron 2 elevator 3 throttle and channel 4 is the rudder. You've got them all mixed up
@@patrickhoyle8357He left the Rx Port assignments set to the Spektrum defaults. Nothing wrong with that as long as he hooks everything up correctly, which he did.
@txkflier I'm well puzzled. I've just set up a new plane and had to change the port assignments , on spektrum default nothing worked correctly - the throttle worked the ailerons - motor just beeped at me - once I realigned the port assignments same as the receiver, everything works ok- even the motor
Spektrum, because you can adjust everything to match your plane. The software for the Reflex gyro will only load config files for FMS planes. There isn’t an easy way to program the Reflex gyro for non-FMS planes.
Hiya guys I don't mean to spoil your efforts Sean but there's a couple of things I found out the hard way I'd like to share . and one part I haven't nailed yet......I have a few fms planes with reflex gyro's,,,they are mounted 180degrees the other way so rotated that is. I have mounted these in non fms planes . The only issue is the reflex preset gyro reaction direction for the control surface . I thought changing that on the TX would solve it but it doesn't..... what I found was if the servo direction could be rotated 180degrees without changing the servo arm it reacted in the correct gyro input direction..... If the servo was in a position where just the arm could be rotated 180degrees that works ..... One plane that had rudder and elevator servo's mounted in parallel I simply swapped the pushrods and servo cable inputs to the gyro . I'm currently about to try servo signal reversers between the servo and the reflex input and then set the TX direction correctly . So what I guess I'm saying is the gyro preset direction does what it's set to....... Apparently you can re-write / configure the gyro via the fms set-up site as if you were installing the reflex into an fms plane that didn't have one ,,,,, a mature gentleman has posted a video regarding this but I can't remember his name and don't know how to post a link....so the setting up the reflex via fms makes my brain hurt just watching that demo...... I've opted for the mechanical option......I'm hoping this comment may save someone the time and sore brain I did ...... Good job Sean..... happy flying and love from New Zealand 🤪😉 ok

Very informative and helpful video. Awesome job on making it easy to understand.
Thanks for doing this video. I wanted to use the reflex on a new plane but not that familiar with it until now! Thanks
A great amount of useful information from this channel.

Thanks so much for explaining reflex as now it makes sense to me ..

You can reprogram the reflex for different planes

Building a new Bf 109 , thanks for your help 😊
got one question can add a 10 channel reciever set it up like that and use the other channels for like flaps gear etc

Have you been following the Reflex thread on RC Groups? And have you seen my sorta how-to on the Reflex?
