Not to mention defense of belts too far apart in weight classes... Choose One, the human body won't be optimal going up and down so often.
If Tarver was soooo good, how long did he keep the belts....as a murderous puncher, and a Mfer of a boxer,Joe?

if Roy woulda been serious the 1st fight & really trained to get back down to light heavyweight after bearing ruiz at heavyweight he woulda killt Tarver but he was too arrogant & he just expected to beat Tarver & get the belt he vacated to move up to heavyweight. He actually shoulda fought Tarver 1st while he was accustomed light heavyweight then move up & fight at heavyweight. Quick weight drop to make the 1st fight was his fk up. Sorry RJJ my boy got clocked then he fight Glen Johnson & got KOd again😮 damn yo.

@BondsGoat25 Lol no respect for the Ice man huh? Chuck in his prime was unstoppable. He had 3 early career losses but than went on a streak evenging 2 of them. He defended his lhw title 5 times and each defense he won by knockout and at 1 point was 20-3.. He also kod a long list of former and future champions. He kod Randy Couture who was a former ufc lhw champ and future ufc heavyweight champ twice, he kod Tito Ortiz who was a former lhw champ twice, he kod Kevin Randleman who was a former ufc heavyweight champ, He KOd Alister Overeem who was a future strikeforce heavyweight champ, he beat Vitor Belfort who was former ufc lhw champ, he beat Wanderlie Silva who was a former pride lhw champ..KOd Babalu who was on a 10 fight winning streak twice..Chuck Liddell was always known to have an iron chin and would take big punch to give an even bigger punch and always gave it 100% effort. But unfortunately he lost his iron chin in his war against Wanderlie Silva and faught way past his prime. But even after fighting past his prime at the end of his ufc career he was fighting all future or former lhw champs and was winning every fight up until he got kod and it was sad because his once iron chin was now glass. Punches that he would of eaten for breakfast in his prime were brutally knocking him out cold. The only fight he looked bad in was the 3rd Tito fight that he took at like 50 years old.

This is what pisses me off about current boxers today. It’s okay to take an L and come back and either 1) avenge it, or 2) fight and beat another few top ranked opponents. Instead everyone wants to protect that 0 like they Floyd. Y’all are NOT floyd, get tf in that ring 😂

It wasn't Prime Roy Jones no more by then, and he had just come down in weight from fighting John Ruiz at Heavyweight to fight Tarver at 175 lbs. Not to say Tarver wasn't a good fighter, but he got to take advantage of that opportunity.

Let’s clarify. They fought 3 times. The first time was when Jones beat Ruiz for the WBA Heavyweight title. Jones was the 2nd person in history to go from middleweight champion all the way to heavyweight champion. His next fight after winning the heavyweight title was Tarver at ligh-heavyweight. He beat Tarver. Joe is talking about they’re 3rd fight. Jones was 37 by that time. Remember, Jones fought until he was 49. Jones was a 5 division champ, Undisputed at 175, most title defenses at 175, 2nd fighter in 100 years to be a champion at 160 and heavyweight. He also has the longest boxing career… 33 years. Had he retired after the first Tarver fight, his record would be 49-1.
