I went to Paris with my sister in 2015 when I was 13. A couple of her Parisian friends regularly took people to them catacombs and they offered to show us. We went with them and I'm pretty sure we went in at the same place you did.
There was a room where the walls were filled with poetry, mainly in French, but some in English. There was also an underground waterfall and it looked amazing! A lot of the walls avaerywhere were full of people's names and dates (I'm guessing they're the dates when they went) and a lot of them were from the 19th and even 18th centuries.
We went out through a manhole in the middle of the pavement in a busy street and there was a police car parked right there. Just our luck! They came to ask some questions right after we came out. I was terrified because I don't speak French and I didn't know what was going on, but apparently they were asking because it's fairly common for people to go down to use drugs, but since we didn't seem to be on drugs they let us go. I think no one told the cops we were eexploring the catacombs. I'm pretty sure my sister and her friends told them some lie about what we were doing down there to stop them from knowing that was an exit from the catacombs.

I'm in love with the idea of exploring the Catacombs, but, it is very dangerous. Being made so long ago, it could collapse at any time. And to add to that, many people have gotten lost and never came back out because of how vast the tunnels are.

Play the "Dice game": Go to the nearest airport and bring a dice with you. Then roll the dice with each number representing an other destination. Go to the designated city and roll the dice again when you have to make a crusial dessision. For example take the bus (numbers 1 or 2), take the train (numbers 3 or 4) or take a cab (numbers 5 or 6). What ya'll do is so great. I tried to live this way until I was disabled in 2007. Not quite extreme as you guys, lol. I do try to still say yes, but there are some restrictions now. I'm so glad there are still people willing to put there heart and soul into experiencing life. I wished I could have put more in. Being comfortable is great, being uncomfortable is amazing.

I can't wrap my head around how they just do stuff like this, I could never. And if I did do this, i would bring something to test the oxygen levels down there because I'm sure there are pockets without any oxygen. I would also do what the people who explore caves do, have a really long rope tied to the entrance so i can follow it back and not get lost.
If you guys want to see a movie about the catacombs, watch As Above So Below. Guaranteed Yes Theory would not have wanted to explore them if they saw it. Also if anyone here is thinking about doing this, STOP. There are certain areas where no outside air can reach, and literally walking through them can kill you because of the lack of oxygen. Anyways great video!

I just think it’s kind of scary how the whole city/ part of the city of Paris; a MAJOR tourist spot in the world, is built on a very old and not the most stable underground catacombs that could just collapse any second taking the city with it 😅😂

If you guy's were not aware, a movie shot in 2014 called "As above so Below" and a horror hit that reached theaters was shot in the catacombs and used as a horror film to introduce a repetitive doorway that leads into hell. It's a great movie but also extremely scary YET awesome experience given you are technically at a movie scenery.

Good thing you didn't watch the Mockumentary Horror about these catacombs before this little trip underground. Enjoyed the exploration though.
The college I attend had these metal sheets randomly around campus and me and my friends found out that these metal sheets covered entrances to an underground tunnel system that professors used to use to get around campus a long time ago but had long been shut down. We were always wanting to go in and explore and recently found a way in through a metal grate that wasn't welded shut and was kept open to allow access for maintenance crews in a secluded part of campus so one night we snuck in and this videos gives me the same vibes of being down there and exploring these tunnels.

I've visisted the open part and I was surprised how not creepy the atmosphere was. It wasn't even smelly or messy, it was just a little cold but super interesting and mesmerising how they even make art with the bones. It's meant to honor the dead, the guide said.
