    Gotta admit a lot of people have played this 2. Bc4 line against me! It’s pretty terrible, but I wondered why everyone was playing it all of a sudden?!
    Maybe because the opening is named an “attack”? After 2...e6,
    White has simply squandered his opening advantage! As always Mio, appreciate your analysis and perspective. Thanks, and cheers! 👍

    Thanks for this video. In positions that arise after 3:43 I always find that their bishop and knight actually put a lot of pressure on the d5 pawn. I guess that b5 move solves the issue.

    Great line against this Mio! I think I played this a few times as white, trying to go for a GPA type of game, but they must have watched this video already :) And as Black I try to go Nc6 or g6, but e6 just looks super solid and simple to play. Thanks for the video!

  • @franky6458
    @franky6458 Рік тому +1

    Nice. I guess the main problem for me is if white delays Bc4 one move and black plays 2. ...d6. Now black is down a tempo and needs to wait for white's ideas to fizzle out. If black just played Nc6 on move 2 on the other hand, black gets to decide how the game is played out when white inevitably plays Bc4.

    Thank You for this video, helped a lot with my general response to this opening that has become popular for some reason at my level.
    Do You have any responses or examples for when the villain plays Knight F3 after You play E6?
    Something tells me that's closer to how Bowdler himself would attack, as it gives me a massive problem on my kingside with Queen H5 check, I lose a rook and we trade queens and it feels unavoidable.

    If Nge7 is played. Is it okay because the e4 pawn pushes the knight away if Nf6, Nge7 might be same I guess because it'll make the pawn push d5 then make the bishop away without playing e5

    Started playing chess again recently and I like to play C5 as black against E4. They move the bishop to C4 90% of the time. Up 500 ELO in the last month and pushing into the mid 1000 range now. Nice to see this video confirms some of the concepts I was already applying. Do you ever fianchetto the dark square bishop?

  • @archsys307
    @archsys307 6 місяців тому +1

    At 4:14 is b5 a pawn sac justified by white's piece inactivity or is there a tactic? If so I can't quite find it. After axb5 axb5 Nxb5 you could try Nb4 but Nc3 does work as after Nxa2 white can just go Nxa2 and not Rxa2 Rxa2 Nxa2 Qa5+ picking up the horse.

    • @archsys307
      @archsys307 6 місяців тому

      Also, even Qa5+ with the N on a2 doesn't work of course since just Nc3. So I don't see a tactic at all. Is it just a positional sacrifice?

    • @archsys307
      @archsys307 6 місяців тому

      I checked with engine and the point is ab ab Nxb5 fails to Qa5+ Nc3 c4. Importantly not to e4 after Nc3 as then Bxf7+ wins the queen

    • @lewisjones284
      @lewisjones284 5 місяців тому

      I wondered that as well. After axb5 axb5 Nxb5 you have Qa5+, Nc3, c4, Bd2 and Qb6, which opens up plenty of attacks. For example, Bb4 pins both the knight and the bishop, as if either move, b2 and the bishop on a2 are in jeopardy.

    Bowdler attack is a good opening, but for some reason many people playing it as white are out of theory on move 3. Nc3 or Qf3 are just not the moves against e6. Against e6 you play Qe2 right away in the variation show in the video it ended up there anyway, but its half the opening late. In bawdler you must play exact moves in response to the moves of your oponent. One wrong timing and you're toast. But if you play all the moves right, thn black is crammed.
