  • I threw a huge Oktoberfest party for my 50th birthday in Fall 2022 where I served 20 US gallons of home brewed Oktoberfest beer; half traditional Märzen, half modern Festbier (Oktoberfestbier). See which one was the preferred party favorite! #oktoberfest
    A comparison of both styles is made and the party favorite recipe is reviewed in detail so that you too can make the same beer.

    Always fun drinking out of a Stein! Have you ever made a Kellerbier? I've been into German style beers lately and have been considering brewing a Kellerbier. Similar in style to a fest beer but they're unfiltered.

    Awesome video Larry thank you for sharing the recipes! Question for you, did you notice any extra fruity esters with the lager temp yeast when fermenting under pressure at room temp or was it clean?

    • @BEERNBBQBYLARRY
      @BEERNBBQBYLARRY  Рік тому

      None. They have been clean just like every other lager I've pressure fermented which dates back to ~2017.

      @@BEERNBBQBYLARRY That’s fantastic. Thanks for responding. I just got a pressure fermenter this Christmas from my best friend and I’m about to start a traditional lager ferment for the first time after brewing dozens of ales so this is encouraging.

    Dunkelweizen is probably my favorite! I drank a whole boot of it like it was a cup of water. Then sized down to pints after that.......

  • @Peter-Southern-Victoria-Aust

    Larry, Are you aware that Lallemand have just released a new hybrid Lager yeast called Novalager Yeast? It is a true Lager yeast, not a Psudolager yeast and you can ferment with it at Ale temperatures even not under pressure, you basically treat it as a ale yeast and you can ferment under 6 days with no horrible Sulphur off flavors and requires no diacetyl rest or anything, they have isolate the part in the yeast which causes that apparently, it is a huge game changer in the industry specially for home brewers and craft brewers who want to turn over lagers under a week, it's midsummer down here in Victoria Australia I've tried getting it but we were told it would be available here in mid January, at this stage it is hard to get in the small packs but you can buy a brick which costs a fortune, but it tastes identical to a Saf Lager 34/70 and it has a neutral flavor, you can ferment it without pressure too or with pressure, this is meant to be a huge game changer, If you go onto Lallemand website you will see it. Cheers 🍺

      @@BEERNBBQBYLARRY Kegland UA-cam channel interviewed a man from Lallemand and they spoke all about it, treat it as a ale yeast with or without pressure, we are yet to get it down here, meant to be mid Summer, which it is now and they still have none, I have heard good reports

    As a german I have the urge to strangle someone when I see him or her drinking beer out of red plastic cups. Transparent cups... ok, but red ones?
    Beer looks good though, the food too, but RED PLASTIC CUPS?
    So, I did my part in being a grumpy german (when it comes to red plastic cups) and wish you a happy belated birthday ;)
