Yooo I need to talk to someone about what it’s like joining the army being married. How is ait while being married. Do I stay in the barracks or how is it.
Fun fact: if the army knows that you are getting a divorce, the army will stick it to you before family court finishes you off. Avoid accruing assets, or put valuables in an LLC or not in your name.
Im an Army Vet that spent my entire time in the Army living in the barracks. I'll just say this, don't do it please reconsider. It was very tempting to get married because you get to move out the barracks. But I saw too many guys get married and divorced because they were used for their benefits. If you have a civilian wife she's going to seek "attention" from another man while you're deployed or in the field getting rained on. If you marry another soldier and she's in a different unit there's a high chance another guy in her unit is her side dude 😂. Trust me I witnessed a lot during my years in active duty. Stay single and protect your money, energy, attention and time.
100% true. I saw too many good soldiers take a nose dive when they had found "True Love" with some split-tail who used them for what little cash they earned.
If you join the air force or any other branch, you won't have to spend near as long living in the barracks. The air force coast guard, etc let unmarried move out at e4 or even e3. The army won't let unmarried move out till usually e6 with some exceptions e5. Its possible to spend around a decade in the barracks in the army, whereas you'd only spend maybe three years or so max in the other branches I'm sure there are air force people who can't wait to get out of the barracks, but when they only stay for three years max if not less or even just a year,.it's not that long of a wait, while an army soldier knows he's probably stuck in the barracks for years and years and years. For anyone thinking of joining, think long and hard about this before you join the branch that keeps its unmarried enlisted in the barracks for the longest time. If you join one of the other branches you won't have to stay anywhere near as long in the barracks to resort to trying to get married in order to get out of the barracks
Going back in as 42A doing my 20 for sure. Finishing my bachelors degree with the GI bill in Human Resources management. The thing that sells me is that fast retirement
As a guy who likes guys as opposed to girls, I appreciate you not being weird about same sex marriage and just being “whatever…” about it. I think that’s the way it should be. And in regards to geo-bachelor thing, it shouldn’t matter where your stationed as that takes precedence over the spouse wanting to live in a fancy city. Like as long as you’re together, that’s all that should matter; subject to the limitations you’ve described. Love the channel and thanks for sharing!
Exception to the Geographic Bachelor rule. If you are station overseas on an unaccompanied tour, you can still live in the barracks And collet the BAH for your family.
The group I was in 50 plus years ago had a rule, no wife, no permit girl friend. The reason was you may have to leave on 15 minutes notice. No questions ask, just go.
What it’s like being married in the army? Your spouse nags you, spends all your money, cheats on you and then blames you for “doing all of this to them.” 👍
zup! i hope get an answer😅 so’ the B.A.H about that, if i have kids she won’t (my “wife”)to be with me or move or whatever, but she want me bring the kids with me, how that is gonna works?? still getting the B.H.A? thanks!
I’ve been wondering if you are on post housing with your spouse and you get shipped over seas would your spouse have to leave the post housing as well?
If it's for a deployment then no. The spouse can stay in the housing. If the soldier is going overseas to get stationed over there and the spouse just doesn't want to go, then they will likely need to move out because the soldier might not get sent back to that same duty station after they are done with their overseas assignment.
@@christopherchaos If they are being sent on an unaccompanied tour, they get to stay in housing. If say you are being sent to Germany it may be different. If they do not have housing available they will let the family stay in housing until you are allowed to join the servicemember overseas.
If you are married going before joining and have children. Is there someone at ait or somewhere that helps arrange your duty station living and moving and all of that?
Not usually at AIT. Its usually something you will do when you get to your duty station after AIT and set that up. They will put you or you and your family in temporary lodging on post if its available or you will have to live in a hotel until you can move into a place on or off post. I've knows some people that will have there spouse set something up at the duty location as soon as they find out where they are going because once you have your orders you can arrange for movers and such.
9:40 If I get relocated to a service station that does not permit my wife to come, will I then still receive BAH while residing in the barracks? It would make sense because I’m not the reason she’s not coming. Asking as a married guy who’s getting enlisted next year
Unaccompanied tours usually provide both BAH and on-post single Soldier housing (barracks). Due to a records error, I was put on orders to Korea only a few months after moving to DC for my first PCS. I was willing to go and doing the math--DC BAH for a married E5 for 12 months while my wife stayed with her parents would have been a tax-free $20k bonus. Factor in family separation and other pay and allowances and that would have been a good year financially. My orders got deleted, though, when the error was discovered.
My experience of being married in the army has been great my wife is traditional and a very good communicator

@@jaymendezxv No, so if your married like myself you live in a house on or off base I also have my son so your pay is also a bit higher.

Just marry a service member and you can skip all the headaches!
No
You will get paid more. Lol.
I’ve heard terrible stories about how bad the movers are!
It can be like that. My experience was always good but that's not always the case for everyone.
I moved a number of times, only had one bad experience
