200$ btw, nor bad compared to the 200$ i got which kinks easily
What size Post did you use? I am looking at the Hoselink Reel like the one you installed on this video however, I purchased 4X4 posts and based on the dimensions of the brackets I don't think it will fit on a 4x4. In your links you do have 4x4 of the composite cover you put over the post that would indicate you used a 4x4 but you don't mention it and I would have to think you actually used a 6X6 post, no?
The price seems to fluctuate. I ordered mine last week at $259. Just looked on your link and it is now $249
@@robwaelchli1063 I have mine mounted on a 4x4 post. It is really close to the edges, but it seems to be on there good.
I have one in the front and one in the back. They are worth every penny. One of the best home accessory purchases I have ever mad. Self retraction for the win!
I also have an eley and they are very nice but mine corroded out on the aluminum since you can't take it in. This seems a better match for Mass weather and I underestimated how awesome the spring action is like you said too
How much did it cost you?
@@anonymoose6873 $179 in March and $199 in May of 2021
I have the same setup one for front yard one for backyard. They are worth every penny…I have never been so motivated to water my plants
So happy to hear you like your reels Matthew!
I love the fact that you only present products you would actually use. Great video and I'll be looking for one of these.
I’ve seen several videos to get ideas on how to install my HoseLink. This is hands down the best installation I’ve seen. So clever and innovative. Great job!
After watching this video, I did this exact install including the foam post set and PVC post cover. Really a great upgrade to the house. Thanks.
So glad it helped!
You will love those hoselink connectors. I have excessive pressure at my house and these are the only hose connections that I've found to work.
That's great to hear. They seem very clever and its shocking how much they weigh when you are used to little cheapie plastic ones, these are solid.
John: Excessive pressure is a blessing to many parts of the country. Considering
the ultra low pressure the folks endure with. SHOWER etc.
You can dial that excessive pressure down. Homes have a pressure regulator somewhere, and they are adjustable.
@@tedlahm5740 In many cases, that pressure drop is introduced at the shower head. Heads I've seen have a small plastic insert near the pipe threads, and you can just remove the insert before re-attaching the head to the pipe.
I bought one back in March. I love it. It's worth the price! Especially when your used to cranking a plastic reel. Great idea with the install of the post! Appreciate all your reviews! Keep up the great content!
Another FANTASTIC video! I've been eyeballing this for a while, but I didn't want to attach it to the house. Thanks for the alternative, it looks fantastic and also thanks for the coupon code. Sending the link to Honey as a STRONG gift hint. 😁 BTW... your lawn is looking great!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you
One of my fave channels. Almost always something I'm into.
I recently got a hose reel, and was about to give it away until I saw this video. I'm doing this! Thank you.
Eley hose reels are a beefy metal reel option, but they are not enclosed mor self-retracting. They are, however, incredibly well built and you can get replacement parts for them as well.
Great Aussie company 🇦🇺👍 I have had one for about 7 years and just make sure you buy the cover to protect it. The cover will last 5 years or so but the hose reel will stay like new
Thanks Peter!
Do you still have it after all these years? I'm curious how this thing ages because I've always heard that they leak internally and are a nightmare to fix if they do get a leak inside.
@incubrian yeah still got it and used almost daily. I replaced the cover again 4 months ago. No leaks
Hey Hoselink, I know he doesn't get any commission for sales because of this video, but just know that I wouldn't have bought your product if not for Patrick's endorsement.
Great video, as always. :)
Thanks Dima! Hope you are loving your reel!
Might have to pick a couple of these up. Haven’t been able to find a good solid hose reel yet and my hoses have been coiled up on the ground.
Only issue I can see is these would make wonderful wasp houses 😂
Great installation, glad you love our retractable reel!
I went ahead and bought the charcoal version a few days ago but mainly due to the YT channel Garden Answer and I must say that yours was the most attractive and most professionally done of all the YT vids I've watched about Hoselink's hose reels.
Very nice of you to say, that charcoal one is definitely very cool looking.
You Sir are AWESOME!!! Always showing GREAT Products that make sense and that are useful. Looking forward to the next GREAT VIDEO.
I appreciate that!
I have 4 and absolutely LOVE them!!! Life is so much easier now. Great video! Thank you
Weird I was taking a walk yesterday and I saw one of these for the very first time. Now you put up a video about one!
Nice set-up . When putting any post in the ground it is a good plan to add pea pebbles under the post to help prevent wood rot .
Or just gravel. Easier to get and usually cheaper.
Grass by the shed looking good.
I have seen those hoses for awhile. You just made a fantastic video showing easy installation. I am definitely getting this for my next house.
You are very creative, knowledgeable, and present your reviews in a easy way.
Thanks a lot 😊
Just bought one because of this video - thanks!
I have one of these in the uk and it’s defo worth the money. You can’t go wrong
Eley hose reels are the BEST. Stainless steel and powder coated and built for life!
Great to see an Aussie product featured on your channel 👍
I bought one and gifted one to my parents. I think the hose reel is awesome, but I have had nothing but trouble with the nozzle and quick connects. First time I used them both broke. Hoselink did replace both pieces but I havent used the replacements.
Great timing! I ordered mine and got it last week and was planning on installing it tomorrow! Thanks for the tips!
So glad it was helpful, I was very impressed with this reel and quality I think you will love it
Make sure you check out our UA-cam channel for more tips too!
In the south the Utility Companies use the same type of foam to set power line poles.
That's pretty cool. I have 5 acres so I use one of the hose carts that holds 400 ft but I might consider one of those for the beds around the house
This has got to be THE BEST hose real on the market
are use a retractable hose reel for my air compressor, never thought about using one for water. Good idea, I may consider purchasing one. Thanks for the information.
Installed 2 yesterday. Love them. Thanks for recommending them
They are really the best portable reels on the market, glad you are enjoying then, a year later mine are all working as well as new
Am old school have a mounted tire rim to wrap my hose around. I tend to like to reuse items. Great review as always, myself I am afraid that the retractable portion would probably break after a few uses. But Great post set up and my use the foam for some use.
You’re like a lawn Wizard. Another thing I’ve been looking for. ❤️🤘
When I Google Lawn wizard all I get his lawn maintenance companies
Outstanding Video. Your videos are always on point and great to watch. Thanks again.
One word !!!!! AMAZING😮😮😮😀😀😀😀!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are cool👍🏻
I'd make very sure to have that bracket level. Otherwise you'll always be fighting gravity as it wants to flop one side or the other.
Love your review of this product! This appears to be better than any other reel I’ve seen. I’d like to see if I can get the PVC sleeve in other colors. Thanks, I look forward to your videos!
I just spent a pretty penny on a Gorilla hose reel, which is great. But this looks amazing as well, and it was another excellent video. Thanks for posting!
Great video!!! I'll be using the Post Fix to install PVC for a flag pole. Never heard of this until now. Thank you bro!!
Did it work or is it tilted 45 degree like my hose reel
@@BlueMaserati Did NOT work. Junk and waste of $$
I’ve had one for 5 months and love it
Hopefully you have better luck with it.. my unit broke after 3 times of retracting it.
Expected
Are u referring to this product in the video, lil erb?
Thank you so much for your invaluable information, highly appreciate it, keep it up the outstanding job, have a great day.
This is pretty useful! Might consider one of these at our next home!
Yes! When are you available to install? 😅🙌
Good job and another great video review SC! You have my attention!!
I appreciate that!
I love my Hoselink reel. It's been brilliant.
WOW! Another 🔥 video. Why you don’t have 1M+ subscribers is a head scratcher.
Got one last year, game changer
I gave up standard garden hoses and reels this year by purchasing expandable hoses. I'm very happy and not looking back, and no expensive reel required.
Purchased one. Adding another thanks to you.
Good video and made me decide to buy this product versus another brand
I like it. I want one. I wonder if there’s a cover to put over it, keep critters from building a nest inside.
I know they sell some optional covers, that may help with that. We have a lot of mice where I live. haven't had them in the hose reel yet, I hope they stay out.
Cover is 20 bucks. Nice product but I need about 200 feet of hose on it before it'll do me any good.
Makita man, respect
You do some very nice work sir!
Good day to all i have one just like this one and this works good .
Just bought mine 👍
Take the whole thing inside during the winter for sure.
Im getting one of these thanks for the suggestion!
I really like this idea. Thanks for the review!
Got one a year ago. I should put it up some day.
I’d love to see a review of quick connect hose fittings that are reliable and do not leak and reasonably priced. The harbor freight’s it is junk that leaks
Australia yes! 👍🇦🇺
Perfect timing. Thank you.
Great tips and great job!
That is really cool! Thanks for the info!
I must get your hands on an Eley reel.
It looks like a great product...any foreseeable issues? I can't think of any
The finish and quality of it were very good. I don't expect problems based on reviews but I love that you can get parts later, a hose reel could be in use forever. I have an old Hozelock in my garage thats 20+ years old this reminds me a lot of that one, good quality, for some reason they never sold in the US, so it's nice to see someone following the good euro style models that are durable.
You are my idol. Nothing else to say.
You are so funny, thank you for the nice words
I don't mean to sound sexist to women. But this is "The Men's" channel of youtube. Edit. It's the "Get it done right channel" of youtube. For women and men alike lmao 🤣
You gotta share! This channel is for whomever is doing the work! 😁
@@PammyRock i scrolled down after commenting this and you were the next comment. I was like yep I'm an idiot lol I'll change the comment lol
You're a wonderful person! Appreciate it! All in fun!
I’ve been considering reels, of lesser quality but similar money, from the big box stores to mount to my shed (also delivered on a mule lol)…. Thinking that in order to mount this on studs I’d have to go to the inside the shed and build out a stud with an additional 2x4 vertical on each side until the width became 6” to mount the reel receiver with proper support. Does that seem like a good approach? As always, great and informative video, SC.
Hi Tom! We generally recommend just making a backing board (same dimensions as the bracket) from plywood, and attaching the backing board directly to the studs with 2 screws down the center. You can learn more by watching this video:
ua-cam.com/video/0OcOJDxkCS4/v-deo.html
doesn’t look like you can splice the hose if there’s a hole. Do you have to replace the entire thing if so?
They've got an easy repair kit in the event of any punctures etc: www.hoselink.com/products/retractable-hose-reel-repair-kit?
Love mine 👍
That's great to hear!
This is genius! Thanks for the tip!
How do you make your lawn look so good?
Everytime the hose is retracted, it will have some grass pieces or whatnot stuck to it. I wonder how the retracting mechanism will fare overtime with debris accumulated.
They have a black and silver version that looks very cool on some houses…
Excellent review!!!!!!
This was excellent.
amazing. love it. will be buying one thanks so much
Great video. Would you mind telling me: How long is the hose that connects to the faucet?
I think it 6.5 feet
Unrelated, but can you do a video or give your recommendation on hose quick connect attachments.
i need 1, looks like i found a new project.
durability is my concern
Assuming the same hose length and diameter, do you prefer the gardena or the hoselink?
I have one and LOVE IT!!
should i do this setup or the spike gardena one you did?
Wow! SOLD!
Thanks for sharing!
Damn 82' is impressive
Heyyy these are from ‘Straya! Expensive AF though.
How does that plastic bracket hold up? Suspect
What state do you live in ? Your place is beautiful!
Very nice of you, I am in Massachusetts
@silvacymbal, what do you call the cap you placed on the post?
Just curious, how is this thing aging after a few years have passed. Are there any leaks? Are there any other weird things that have happened??
I did a little update on it, as I have even moved since and taken them with me: ua-cam.com/video/OKnZG2o97H4/v-deo.html
@@SilverCymbal amazing! Watching now. That's always my fear of buying a nice hose reel but having the included hose fail after 2 to 5 years because garden hoses never seem to last. This one looks pretty solid. Any time I need to get something for the house I ALWAYS see if you have a preferred one that you use haha. Love your channel, been watching and subscribed for years. Thanks for all the great advice!
How has the poly post mix held up over time? Im gonna do this when my hose link comes in, not sure if I wanna use the poly mix or concrete.
How long is the hose that connects to the house?
Thats a good question, I should have included it, here it is: Leader Hose 6'6"ft (2m)
@@SilverCymbal Thanks! the hose spigot in the back yard is somewhat inconveniently behind my oil tank, so I like to run a jumper out to the corner of the house for hose reels.
You need to add a padlock through the hole in the pivot pipe to prevent someone from stealing the unit.
Believe me if they want to steal that one go ahead, I will file an insurance claim. Its still going strong at 22 years old! Horrible on efficiency though, getting close to replacing it
Can you secure it in the bracket so it doesn’t get stolen?
Yes there is a hole through the shaft at the bottom, you could put a cotter pin or bolt/screw in or even a small lock if you wanted something more secure
