I’m a new wound nurse in a SNF, and I absolutely love your videos! I have learned so much! One of my patients actually told me about your videos.
Aww this makes me so happy to hear! This is exactly why I make these videos!!!
same here, when i first started 4/5 months back i was watching these videos and learning a lot
WOCN here. Really appreciate your channel!
Excellent video. I have had an amputation of the great toe on my left foot. I’ve been working with the Wound Care Clinic for 6 months. I’ve done really well with dressing changes until this last appointment (Followup for surgery #4). They went to remove 27 stitches but found that due to excessive moisture from the wound, 5 stitches pulled out. I’ve received mixed dressing instructions. The clinic said to keep the wound dry, to use Hydrofera. The surgeon said to use AquaCell with Santyl ointment. The AquaCell dressings seem to be having the opposite effect. Any advise? I’ve also reached out to the clinic for feedback.
If you have an open wound base that you can see, it should be just as moist as your eye ball. If it is drying through small little holes that you can not really see, but is causing maceration, keep it completely dry.
Regardless, santyl is not a good choice as it will add moisture .hrdrofera blue and aquacell (alone)
Now, santyl is a debriding agent, not sure if your wound base needs this or not but their are other debridement methods that should be looked at if this is the case.
I do provide online wound consulting where I can do a full assessment and provide you with suggestions thewoundconsultant.com
I ordered this product for a possible bed sore...very small about the size of a pencil eraser. No infection that i can tell. Is this appropriate and will it speed up healing?
If there is depth to the wound and the thickness of this product fits into it that wound it would be fine .. but if it is flush then Bactigras or inadine would be a better choice.
@@NurseAlyssa39 thanks I realized this product is not needed. The wound is flush to the skin and very small. I did buy a antibacterial foam dressing. I recall it being called "silver" obviously I'm not a nurse haha there's no infection but someone had mentioned this was better than what iwas doing previously......barrier cream and non adhesive pads taped on. This dressing seemed to let urine seep through and probably doesn't optimize healing....hopefully new dressing stays dry.
Try it see if that works if not message me.. also man thing to know with pressure sores is you have to remove the pressure from that area .once closed it will have 1 year to be fully healed there for you must be very careful to not keep pressure on the area for longer then 2 hrs at a time. There are different off loading devices you can use ei. Roho
You forgot to say what side you use for the wound dressing
Apply the dressing with the foam side towards the wound and shiny film side up. Secure the dressing using a bandage or a tape over the film surface
you did not cover if to put shiny side up or down
Apply the dressing with the foam side towards the wound and shiny film side up.
👍
