2005 650 Boulevard/Savage. Ryca rear sets, muffler, clip ons, wheel, spokes, tire, air filter and carb jets. Here is a link to the build. • Suzuki Boulevard Cafe ...
awesome work, you managed to brake the original main lines and turn them into cafe racer distinctive lines. At first I thought you used like a GSsomething fueltank It is really cool
Solid bike man! I did the same thing with an old rebel 450. I had to build a little number plate to hide the akward frame work for the seat pan on mine.
Very nice and clean conversion. The OEM belt drive, however, looks rather bulky and clutters the rear of the bike. You may consider a chain conversion; I experimented with 17/49 but the speedo underread, so I corrected to 17/50, spot on! I have read of 18/52 conversions, but this too will make the speedo underread; furthermore, sprockets are both even toothed and this may cause uneven wear of the final drive assembly. My setup with a 17 tooth front sprocket corrects the problem, 17 being a prime number.
Christoph Diermann- Thanks. I didn't have to modify the swing arm. There was plenty of room between the tire and the swing arm once the belt was pulled tight. I used the original hub from the Suzuki Boulevard 15 inch rear wheel and re-laced it with 36 new spokes and an 18 inch wheel.
Hi there! Great work, loving the paint job. I'm wondering if that gas tank is stock or not and if you did the whole thing with a wrench or if welding equipment was needed. Specifically since it looks like you had to raise the frame a bit for the seat...I'm thinking of getting a 2006 model and snagging a kit
Without any clearance issues, Is there a way you can drop the front of the tank down about 2 inches with a bracket, or would you have to like cut and channel the tank out?
Sierra175 Well there are two rubber posts on the frame that the tank slide onto. Then the tank is right against the frame. I assume you'd have to cut and channel the tank.
Hey there...nice bike. I was wondering if you had to modify the swing arm to accept the 18" rim and tire? I thought RYCA fabs a new one with a donor core in their kits. What did you do? Thanks!
IS there anything you need to adjust when you wrap it? I wrapped mine, haven't completely broken in mine from riding yet, but I'm wondering If I need to adjust anything since it runs hotter
Riley Tebbetts No need to adjust anything at all. The wrap itself may smoke for a bit but then it's good. IMHO the bike should run cooler not hotter. As the radiant heat that comes off the header won't be going back toward the engine, but rather out the end of the exhaust.
Aaron Rankin What top speed are you getting? Im only getting 62-65. Im replacing the 28 year old petcock with a raptor, and a new pod filter as well. Hopefully that should make it run better and faster at higher speeds.
Riley Tebbetts Maybe i should weigh mine and you weigh yours. Then see if its a weight issue. I"m guessing mine is around 310 pounds. The original weight of my 2005 Suzuki boulevard S40 was 381 lbs.
Aaron Rankin Something like an SRX tank that is higher at the rear with cut aways & dimples for the clip ons - there are alloy brit ones too that look the dogs - we like your gutsy choice of engine

Great job bud. Thanks for sharing. I am combing the wreckers and classifieds looking for my first project.
They should all look like that and i love the s40 but yours is the way to do it

Yea, you killed it man, very nice build! Very creative.
Dude you nailed it! Very practical and effective mods! Props

Where did you get the 18 inch rim and from?
Ryca.com
@@AaronRankin ok!

NMB? I live in downtown myrtle and have a buddy of mine in cherry grove who rides. Looking to get a savage myself.
I don't like that the air filter is so small, and behind the engine, sucking in hot air, but other than those, it's very nice, good work.
Killer job, doing the same to mine. You got it right on a decent budget it appears to me. Please tell me about the kick stand?
Better than Ryca, your tank looks great.
Great looking bike!!! Bùt how wide of a rim did you use on the back?
Would you be able to share some dimensions/fab info for those rear sets? Awesome build, bike looks sweet!

love singles - mines an SRX6 - not sure on exhaust wrap otherwise very nice indeed
Looks realy good Is this the orginal gas tank ? Or did U make it smaller ?
Thanks. Its the original tank.
More details on the rear shock bracket please.
It is two metal plates welded together and shaped to form the shape of the bottom of the shock.
Aaron Rankin Thanks
Aaron Rankin your bike looks great. I assume the rear shock spacers/ brackets are one off made or were they purchased anywhere?
I made them.
Hey there...nice bike. I was wondering if you had to modify the swing arm to accept the 18" rim and tire? I thought RYCA fabs a new one with a donor core in their kits. What did you do? Thanks!
+Christoph Diermann No I didn't have to modify the swing arm.
Hi Aaron, nice job. Did you make the rear seat cowl or is it from Ryca or another supplier?
Hello Lionel, I didn't make the rear seat cowl I bought it from cafebikeparts1 off of Ebay.
did you keep the gas tank stock, or did you have to cut it down like a ryca kit?
How did you eliminate the ugly triangular sidecovers? I want one of these bikes, but hate the "pizza slices" on the sides of most builds.
Beautiful work, I admire the simple lines of a single but personally I don't like the sound of them.
What kind of rear rim have u used?

Hey Riley. My top speed is around 85 MPH. I installed different jets in the carburetor. shop.rycamotors.com/jet_set.html
Aaron Rankin updated my top speed is around 70. Previous owner debaffled and rejetted so I don't know why I'm not getting 80-90 for my top speed.

hi, i need help on the size of the front wheel and headlight please.
+Omar David Matar Guerrero The front wheel is a 19 inch. Not sure about the headlight.
Thanks
everyone waiting to hear it start.. 250 subs cough..
nice build though.. lol
i really fukn love it .dad would be so proud of u with it man. i cant wait to ride it
nice though that rag on the dowpipe spoils it
Would be not legal in Canada .
Rear signals and light have to be visible
How much to build one
Depends on what you want done. There's a lot of factors. The type of bike, the year, etc. Also depends on your budget.
Aaron Rankin Hello sir ! I like cafe racer or custom motorcycle 🏍 just like that, how much it cost at least price . Thank you 🙏
How has the speed changed on it?
Reed Schimmel It accelerates much faster because the bike lost a bunch of weight. Top end increased maybe 10mph.
What is the exhaust from?
The exhaust was bought from Ryca.com or dime city cycles. I can't remember which one.
Gotta be honest I'm not keen at all on the rear shock extension idea, that can't be even slightly reliable
8 grand u crazy i built mine for less then 2.. And that includes price of bike...
I guess you didn't see the balloon that said it was just a joke.
Why do people wrap old dish cloths around the header pipes?
So you don't blister your legs.
Aaron Rankin No, it's to keep the exhaust header hot so the exhaust flows better and gives you more power.
@@AndrewNilsen-Visualinguist thats another reason
The tank looks all wrong - more a bopper than a cafe racer
The tank is the original tank that's why. I didn't want a 1 gallon tank.
Aaron Rankin Something like an SRX tank that is higher at the rear with cut aways & dimples for the clip ons - there are alloy brit ones too that look the dogs - we like your gutsy choice of engine
Aaron Rankin stock tank is 2.8 gallons, you can modify it (or have RYCA do it) and it will only take it down to 2.5 gallons.
TommyGun
Thanks for the heads up.
super awesome aaron . i gota ride her.
Did you make any modifications to the gas tank to help up make that straight line from the seat to the tank
