My one problem with the whole honor thing his uncle is stuck on is that that’s not really a “samurai” thing atleast in that time period the whole bushido honor code was kinda an over exaggerated explanation of how samurai transitioned after that big shogunate that’s formed at the end of RotR I can’t remember what the name of it is tho but samurai were brutal and used all kinds of stealth and underhanded kill tactics hell even going on black ops that can be classified as “ninja” or “shinobi” work were things samurai did
That’s another partial reason I prefer RotR to GoT one is fantasized samurai lore stuff that isn’t exactly true to history, and one is knitty gritty that shows how samurai will do what’s needed to get the job done-while honor was “important” to samurai it wasn’t a code or rules to live by it was more of a guideline to some like for instance does using the body of a peasant/beggar to test the sharpness of your sword sound honorable cause that’s something that was done by samurai, honor was like a choose when to apply kind of thing it’s like what colossus said in Deadpool hero’s don’t live as heroes it’s mainly about those 5 key moments where you choose the “heroic choice”
you never let me forget you’re lowkey a japanese historian 😂😂 but yea i really do appreciate that eternal struggle Jin had throughout the game with him trying to stay true to samurai code. While also doing any and everything necessary to save his home and his people. I think his uncle and Yuna play good counter balance roles as they essentially play tug of war with Jin. As Jin makes this decision he constantly thinks about how they go against everything his uncle installed in him but here comes yuna reminding him that he’s becoming something more than what he ever was.
@@horizonXII nope neva evah I will say I do agree that the story can be very compelling but personally I just want that deep authentic experience it’s a bit too “old school samurai movie” for me tho like the characters are great even tho his uncle kinda gets on my nerves just a tad bit but as far as the story goes it is interesting there’s just some things that make it fall short to me like for instance if he has such a big honor thing y don’t he talk the one dude who uses the bow to take enemies out without confrontation considering he’s kind of a part of his forces like y is it just Jin he has a problem with yk
Well i think his uncles sees Jin as the son he never had( which is funny considering he could have a son of his own i wonder why he never did) but he feels that Jin’s actions are a direct reflection of the very teachings he instilled in him. So to see him stray so far away from this ideal path Lord Shimura had for him it hurt. At least to me it seems like he felt that he failed him as a father and a master. The actions of others such as Ishikawa and lady masako should be questioned considering they do some “ dishonorable” things as well. Plus they backed Jin without question they understood the current situation and were ready to offer up their skills to help. While this game does definitely come off like a classic samurai story it also has a certain level of nuance to it, i really do enjoy this back and forth between what is “right”( the samurai way) and what is “necessary” ( everything that doesn’t align with the ways of the samurai). We already got a glimpse of what the “right” way gets you and that’s predictability, humiliation( Khan did lady masako’s husband dirty in the intro 😭💀), and defeat. All in all it’s a great well written story with some very compelling characters definitely a 8.8/10.
Agreed
(I guess they might be making a sequel, is a 60% out 100% chance of that being true
it’s been about 4 years its time for a sequel
