I'm not sure if it will be my last video of the year, but just in case it is, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season! I'll definitely be filming over the next few weeks and might even have a chance to visit some mountains...stay tuned!
I live in Washington, and I, too, appreciate the slow driver admonition…pull over and let those faster go on by…I just wish more drivers actually did it. I love your videos, they bring my anxiety level down, and inspire me to paint. Scotland and Washington are about the same latitude, so I share your feelings about these dark winter days. I live on the shores of Puget Sound and in a beautiful small rural town with many opportunities to paint outdoors, if it weren’t for the rain and the persistent 40° F, I would certainly do more plein air. I will content myself to paint indoors and wait for spring. I’ve been to Scotland once…it is beautiful…one side of my family were McDaniels.❤
There seems to be a similar feeling and landscape in the PNW near the coast. My brother & his fam lives in eastern WA so I hope to see them again and have some time to adventure along the coast :)
Hi Sarah. You all are so sweet together. I am so happy your visa was approved!!! I always smile when I watch the videos. You and Wolfie are both awesome and I can’t wait to see your future adventures. Hugs to you both 💕
I find it so interesting that Wolfie was able to see and capture your vision. Art is so subjective and for him to be able to see your vision and capture it on film seamlessly is amazing. Love your channels and appreciate the hard work you both put into them.
He hasn't been helping with video as often as I hoped, since I often go out alone while he does other work. But I'm very glad he helps when he does, especially filming when I'm painting as that is really tricky to do everything at once!
I loved this update! Thank you both! And the auroras.... oh my you sure get to see a skyfull of stunning lights. I've seen them on occasion, and in recent years, it seems I am under rain or heavy clouds when they are happening. (around 42 degrees latitude). It's pretty cool you have a new passionate interest that is a winter thing.....and even a Dark/Night thing. So it makes the long hours of dark soooo much more interesting. Love it. wonderful the 2 of you get to work together. My hubby and I did for many years, and was a good experience.
Sarah-- my hack for easy Christmas light storage. Take a plastic like grocery bag ( or any) wind the lights loosely around the bag. When the strand is complete, draw in the ends of the bag and loosely tie it. Then place that bundle in another bag to separate it from its neighbors if more than one strand. Works and free solution
Your kitty is so cute! I have a gigantic Tuxedo, King of the hood...in HIS mind 😅 Seasons Greetings from Alberta, Canada. 👍😎🇨🇦🎁🎄🐾🔥 P.S. my cat ignored yours, in this video, but seemed mesmerized by the aurora borealis!
Stunning footage as per usual-thanks for sharing! And a treat to see the pair of you at the end. Wolfie may enjoy comedian Steve Trevino’s I Speak Wife 😂
In November we had some chance to see the aurora in the Netherlands too but my 7 year old and I could only go the the edge of town but we live 40km south of Amsterdam and Schiphol, so there was a sea of light coming from the north so no luck for us, also living in the centre of the Netherlands there is a lot of light polution around. Next time we are trying to get out of that centre. I love seeing your aurora pictures and video's and the kid too, so we can enjoy the aurora with you, also my kid would go stormchasing with Wolfie :) Thank you for all your videos, they are my rest point during the day, my moment to relax. Hope you both have a great holiday season too!
@@sarahinscotland I really hope so! It would be something awesome to share with my family from our own 'home' without travelling to scandinavia (although that would be awesome too ;) )
Congrats on your visa Sarah! Honestly I know the stress that goes with that! Wanted to tell you, I am freaking out as we move on the 5th January up to the highlands! Your videos have really been helping ease my anxiety!
Thank you for the Visa video. Thank you for this beautiful video. It reminds me of when I lived in Northern Minnesota. The cold, snow, dark and the Aurora. Happy Holidays.
Garlic will be OK - in fact, bit of trivia, I believe it actually needs a cold stint over winter in order for the cloves to form. I grew some before that didn't get cold and it was just one big clove!
Is there a sound more perfect than a cat's purr? Me thinks not! If you live down south in Tassie you get to see the Aurora Australis. I know an artist who captures the most amazing images just from the end of her driveway. I'm in the central highlands so we don't get the auroras (a bit sad given we are in a zero light pollution area) but we have, on occasion, when the auroras are strong, a bizarre and uniformly pink sky.
I have recently seen some AMAZING images from the Aurora Australis (like this week) because the stats have been so elevated. Maybe you've seen the pink sky!
Happy Winter!! ❄ I hope you're enjoying this cozy time (it's my favorite time of year - I love the cold and darkness), but I also do understand that drained feeling. All the more reason to focus on getting more rest, since that's what nature is supposed to do. I always enjoy your vlogs, it's such a joy to watch your videos as I get some painting work done. I'm also looking forward to purchasing your book as a Yule gift to myself. Enjoy the holidays and don't work too hard! ❤
Happy winter solstice/holidays, you three! String Light hack: we use spools that came with 3-D printing filament. They are perfect for keeping the lights in order, just make sure the plug with the tines is at the end, not the start of the spool, if you're connecting strings together.
When I was a kid we just wound the light strings around a flat or folded cardboard, cut a diagonal slit in the end to 'anchor' the end, or if the ends plugged into each other, anchored them that way.
