    Crazy how this tank actually existed. The first time i saw a picture of a KV-2, i thought it was concept art for some game, no way something that funky looking existed once

      The turret was so heavy on the KV-2 that they couldn't rotate it if the tank was at too steep an angle.

    The friday uploads are always a joy! Ever thought of doing scale models of non-military vehicles? I think rally cars would definitely be right up your alley, especially with all the weathering and mud you could apply to one.

    As someone who's modified quite a lot of Games Workshop minis in the past, my advice for Greenstuff is that you wet your tools slightly before using it, it helps quite a bit when shaping it.

    I should have added - the geometry of the ground pointed tip of the hypodermic needle is what lets it cut a true round hole more like a cross between a reamer and a D bit drill rather than not so round hole that a twist drill makes and it will also not "grab" the plastic like twist drill does.

    For drilling 0.3mm hole try using a 30g hypodermic needle and for a pin vise you should really be using a smaller lighter weight pin vise like the Tamiya 74051 Fine Pin Vise for 0.1mm to 1mm bits. Even if you don't try the hypodermic needle, the smaller lighter weight pin vise will result in fewer broken small drill bits

    Mr. Nightshift. For me, you are the best modeler. Could you create a model so that it could not be distinguished from the real one? It's just that all the models seem to be toys anyway, and the eye sees the difference. Is it the effects, the size, or how to create this feeling? You have already called a revolution in the field of modeling with your skills! But maybe one more =)?

    There was such a big backlash on the metal hull part from the community, it even caused Tamiya to abandon the idea and release plastic hulls only for the 1/48 tanks.
    I don't know .. but to me it that feature was plausible and it gave a cool sense of weight and authenticity to the model. Many non-modeling friends pointed out the weight thing when I used to hand them my models for inspection.

    • @ericf9465
      @ericf9465 2 роки тому +1

      An easy way to add weight is to put modeling clay in the hull. It's cheap, sticks well, can mold around anything. Makes a huge difference in my opinion.

    I wish I had your attention to detail, I set out with good intentions but then fall at the first hurdle. I would love to see you "make real" a Warhammer 40K tank like a Baneblade or perhaps the new Rogal Dorn tank! I'd love to see you make right the armour detail and scale.... I think you might get a kick out of it adding precision where it is sorely lacking. I'm not a Games Workshop nut, quite the opposite I would just love to see you hit these machines with a stick made of precession and reality. Love your channel.

    This is a very nice build of an unusual subject. A pleasure to watch. Two Polish (?) companies Part and Aber do some 1/40 stuff too. I've just read Prit Butar's book Battleground Prussia - an excellent read. February 15 1945 the German 507 Heavy Tank Battalion was in the village of Liebenau, Pomerania and destroyed a KV-2 positively identified as such by the witness (pg 245). It could be that very tank as Soviet forces in the area could include Leningrad forces.

    Non-military vehicles, do manga/anime mechs count? My fav is the "Tsugumori custom 2" from knights of sidonia. But there are multiple "type 17" figures/kits from different manufacturers that are a bit simpler in design.
