I’m 73 years young and still wear sneakers. I can dress casual or elegant withy sneakers. Shout to my grandkids for always helping with my low sole sneakers!
Notice how Sophie's blazers are fitted and not at all oversize, this balances her slouchy sweaters and trousers/jeans. Also, she's tall so she can get away with oversize tops and bottoms, but she often tucks in her oversize top and layers it with a fitted blazer
Great observation, Lulu! The way Sophie styles her blazers to balance oversized pieces is a smart approach. Tucking in her tops really helps create a polished look. Thanks for sharing! 😍😘
Thank you so much, @Liliap333! I’m thrilled to hear that the collection inspired you! Embracing your unique style with those edgy runners sounds fantastic - keep being beautifully different! ❤️❤️❤️
That’s wonderful, Kathy! Wearing sneakers in various colors sounds like a fun way to express your style while staying comfortable. Classic and elegant is always a great choice, especially with your beautiful snow-white hair! 💖❤️💖
Im 58, I have ditch my high heels over sneakers nowadays, love wearing sneakers more than anything else, especially those platform converse, they are so stylish and comfy, they goes well with almost everything 😊
Thanks for sharing, @wendywo2690! I love that you’ve embraced sneakers, especially platform Converse - they really do add a stylish touch to any outfit! It’s all about comfort and confidence, and it sounds like you’ve nailed both! 😄👟 Keep rocking those comfy looks!
I’m 64 and the biggest change I’ve seen in 50 years of styling is that now it’s ok to mix pieces of different levels of formality, like a hoodie under a blazer, or sneakers or a t-shirt with a nice trouser suit. This was unthinkable when I was a teen and young adult in the 70s and 80s. Jeans required sneakers or other very casual shoes and even a silky skirt required a silky top, not a cotton tee shirt. I always loved breaking this rule, I was the first to wear a mini-skirt to my big, corporate office, a tee with a suit, etc.or a shorts suit. We have endless options today. Love your channel, thanks🙂
Thank you for sharing your insights, Kimberly! It’s interesting to see how fashion has evolved, especially since my parents still aren’t on board with mixing casual and classic pieces. My dad often looks at me like I’m a weirdo for pairing sneakers with tailored pants! I love hearing about your experiences breaking the rules. It gives me hope that one day my family will embrace these stylish combinations too! 🥰
I have a pair of black New Balance trainers with beige and white trims. They go with so much in winter because of the neutral colours and the more pointed toe looks great with jeans. I’ve been wearing this brand for so long that one white pair I have with blue and grey trim have come back into fashion! I now have my eye on a beige pair. I’m 58 now and have always gone for classic styles, but have never tried wearing these trainers with trousers, only jeans and cords. I might give it a try if I could just get past the big trouser pleats that I find bulky and ugly. They aren’t very forgiving on a pear shape.
Your classic style sounds so chic, and it’s great that you’ve found versatile New Balance trainers that work so well with jeans! Trying them with trousers could be a fun new approach-have you considered slimmer cuts or styles without pleats? These might complement your trainers while giving a streamlined look that could suit a pear shape beautifully. And a beige pair sounds like it would blend seamlessly with your wardrobe! 😍🤗❤️🙋♀️
@ Absolutely! I have some wide leg trousers without pleats from the 2000s. I recently lost weight and can fit into them again, so will be trying this :-)
@@JOJO-ug9ei That sounds fantastic! Wide-leg trousers from the 2000s without pleats are such a timeless choice, and it’s great that you’re able to revisit them now. Pairing them with your New Balance trainers sounds like a chic yet comfortable look! Can’t wait to hear how you feel styling them again. 😊
At 58, I've finally decided to try wide leg jeans and trainers, I am trying to buy the Samba in brown suede but so far no luck as they're out of stock everywhere. Another option I'd like to try with trainers is a polo collar top and a knee-length skirt, e.g. A-line denim skirt, this outfit was recently featured in one of Loya the Fashion Queen videos, if you don't know her channel, I thoroughly recommend it
That sounds like a fantastic idea, Lulu! Trying wide-leg jeans with trainers is a great way to mix styles. Embracing new looks is all about experimenting. Good luck with your fashion journey! Thanks for recommending that channel, yes, I also watch it occasionally ☺️
Thank you so much! It’s amazing to hear that you already have so many of these items in your wardrobe. I’m thrilled you found the video inspiring-keep rocking those fabulous looks 🥰❤️
Exactly! There are no hard rules in fashion, especially when it comes to sneakers. Sophie Fontanel shows us how to break those barriers beautifully! How do you plan to embrace your style as you turn 60?❤️🥰
True, it can help, but it definitely doesn’t mean that height or weight determines whether you can create stylish, similar looks. It’s really about knowing how to dress for your body shape and taking the time to experiment. With a bit of patience and practice, anyone can achieve chic and polished outfits! 🥰
I wear dresses or skirt outfits nearly every day, year-round, and I don’t like the way they look with sneakers on petite me. I’m also sensitive about having lost 2 inches of height by age 60, and I’m afraid my legs will look stumpy in sneakers. I wear a comfy 2-inch aprx. heel leather shoe or boot most days, it just gives me more confidence and adds polish.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Kimberly! I totally understand the concern about height and the confidence that comes with the right shoes. It’s great to hear you find comfort and style in your heel options🥰💖
I’m 75, and I’ve been a fine artist, a graphic artist, an art director, an editor, a model, and a clothing designer. Since early childhood, I’ve refused to wear sneakers, except during athletic pursuits of course. I preferred loafers, sandals, ballet flats and Mary Janes. I still do. The way I see it, if I’m going to wear something, it has to stand the test of being exhibited as a work of art. If I can put a shoe on a pedestal and love everything about its design, appearance, materials, features, and workmanship… I will gladly wear it if it suits me. Same for clothing, accessories, jewelry, etc. To me, sneakers are like the emperor’s new clothes. There’s nothing worth looking at, the emperor is kidding himself, and his audience knows to go along with it all.
Thank you for sharing your perspective, Melissa! Your background in the arts gives you such a unique view on fashion and footwear. It’s interesting to think about clothing as a work of art. Your philosophy on style is inspiring! 🤗🥰❤️
This cool and individual style works for Sophie because of her undone hair and no or very natural make-up. Otherwise it would be too much. And first of all her personality of course!

Trash all those ugly sneakers! They are not elegant or beautiful. Can’t wait for the trend to end just like those ugly platform shoes did. There are plenty of sneakers more feminine like simple Adidas
I get where you’re coming from! Not all sneakers fit every taste. Some of the more classic designs like Adidas can certainly offer that simple elegance you’re looking for. 😇😍
