I’m 64 and the biggest change I’ve seen in 50 years of styling is that now it’s ok to mix pieces of different levels of formality, like a hoodie under a blazer, or sneakers or a t-shirt with a nice trouser suit. This was unthinkable when I was a teen and young adult in the 70s and 80s. Jeans required sneakers or other very casual shoes and even a silky skirt required a silky top, not a cotton tee shirt. I always loved breaking this rule, I was the first to wear a mini-skirt to my big, corporate office, a tee with a suit, etc.or a shorts suit. We have endless options today. Love your channel, thanks🙂
Thank you for sharing your insights, Kimberly! It’s interesting to see how fashion has evolved, especially since my parents still aren’t on board with mixing casual and classic pieces. My dad often looks at me like I’m a weirdo for pairing sneakers with tailored pants! I love hearing about your experiences breaking the rules. It gives me hope that one day my family will embrace these stylish combinations too! 🥰
That’s wonderful, Kathy! Wearing sneakers in various colors sounds like a fun way to express your style while staying comfortable. Classic and elegant is always a great choice, especially with your beautiful snow-white hair! 💖❤️💖
Notice how Sophie's blazers are fitted and not at all oversize, this balances her slouchy sweaters and trousers/jeans. Also, she's tall so she can get away with oversize tops and bottoms, but she often tucks in her oversize top and layers it with a fitted blazer
Great observation, Lulu! The way Sophie styles her blazers to balance oversized pieces is a smart approach. Tucking in her tops really helps create a polished look. Thanks for sharing! 😍😘
At 58, I've finally decided to try wide leg jeans and trainers, I am trying to buy the Samba in brown suede but so far no luck as they're out of stock everywhere. Another option I'd like to try with trainers is a polo collar top and a knee-length skirt, e.g. A-line denim skirt, this outfit was recently featured in one of Loya the Fashion Queen videos, if you don't know her channel, I thoroughly recommend it
That sounds like a fantastic idea, Lulu! Trying wide-leg jeans with trainers is a great way to mix styles. Embracing new looks is all about experimenting. Good luck with your fashion journey! Thanks for recommending that channel, yes, I also watch it occasionally ☺️
Exactly! There are no hard rules in fashion, especially when it comes to sneakers. Sophie Fontanel shows us how to break those barriers beautifully! How do you plan to embrace your style as you turn 60?❤️🥰
I’m 75, and I’ve been a fine artist, a graphic artist, an art director, an editor, a model, and a clothing designer. Since early childhood, I’ve refused to wear sneakers, except during athletic pursuits of course. I preferred loafers, sandals, ballet flats and Mary Janes. I still do. The way I see it, if I’m going to wear something, it has to stand the test of being exhibited as a work of art. If I can put a shoe on a pedestal and love everything about its design, appearance, materials, features, and workmanship… I will gladly wear it if it suits me. Same for clothing, accessories, jewelry, etc. To me, sneakers are like the emperor’s new clothes. There’s nothing worth looking at, the emperor is kidding himself, and his audience knows to go along with it all.
Thank you for sharing your perspective, Melissa! Your background in the arts gives you such a unique view on fashion and footwear. It’s interesting to think about clothing as a work of art. Your philosophy on style is inspiring! 🤗🥰❤️
I wear dresses or skirt outfits nearly every day, year-round, and I don’t like the way they look with sneakers on petite me. I’m also sensitive about having lost 2 inches of height by age 60, and I’m afraid my legs will look stumpy in sneakers. I wear a comfy 2-inch aprx. heel leather shoe or boot most days, it just gives me more confidence and adds polish.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Kimberly! I totally understand the concern about height and the confidence that comes with the right shoes. It’s great to hear you find comfort and style in your heel options🥰💖

I’m 61 and I love sneakers. If you wear them correctly they look great with any type of fashion. ❤
Absolutely! Sneakers can be so versatile. What’s your favorite way to style them? I’d love to hear your tips! ❤️

I’m 64 and my rule is: miniskirts only! Not really, I wear midis, too, but mostly minis, why not? Rules are for children🙂
@@KimberlyPerrotis mmm…sounds interesting!!! 🥰🤩 I bet you look 😻
