To me beer tastes the same flat or carbonated, plus I don't really care about taste... it's about getting drunk. So I actually pour my beer into a large plastic bottle, squeeze out the air and shake it. Because of that, I can drink more beer. If I didn't do this I wouldn't get drunk.

Nah, you feel bloated because you are. Beer is meant to be savoured. Roughly one beer per hour depending on the setting, with regular glasses of water in between. You won't be bloated and you won't be hungover.
@@mmgg1671 Because both are wrong. You tilt at the start and pour straight at the very end, making sure that you have a crown that is a little bit over a two fingers width high. The tricky part is observing, knowing how fast to release the tilt and doing all of it at once at a certain pace. It needs some practice and is not as black and white as he is trying to make it in the clip.
As a former professional bartender. Always drink beer from a glass/mug. Never drink from the bottle. In regards to the pour it depends heavily on the type of beer, but always leave an inch of head. Remember foam is aroma and flavor
The correct way of pouring beer is to pour most of it into the glass gently, then the last inch or so lift the can in the air and get some foam in there. That small layer of foam is to ensure the fizz stays in there for as long as possible

it depends on the culture here in czech and slovakia and also in germany austria and other countries we drink it with the foam and if you were a bartender here and poured the beer like that without the foam you would be fired on the spot but you in the us just pour it different way and its normal
There's a happy medium. A properly poured beer will have a head. You want something between the two examples. To achieve that I usually pour down the glass until about the last third and then I pour more aggressively.
That's how to do it. The only beer I know where you pour it down straight is a Guinness out of a Guinness glass and that beer needs a little time to settle.

Do both. Slow side pour for the first half, then hard pour the rest straight in. It will prevent overfoaming AND still leave you with a nice frothy head.
Point the tab straight up and use it to lean the can against the rim of your glass and let the beer pour itself. Fast pour, perfect head, doesn't overflow and you don't even have to hold the glass.

I'll be honest, as someone who can't handle much carbonation bc my diaphragm is built weird, fuck yeah, flat soda and flat beer forever. Another pro tip to remove carbonation is to add something very rough and porous, so it creates nucleation sites for all that CO2 to leave : A paper as he's done in the video (although it might change the taste so prolly don't), a chopstick, or even a bit of sugar. If it makes lots of bubbles when dropped in, it's good to go.
If you're nursing the same beer from hours like a b*tch then I get your point. Otherwise, it doesn't go flat that quickly. Even soda you have to shake for a very long time to get the carbonation out. Just pouring it into a glas doesn't make it instantly flat.

Just about any Belgian and German must have died a little inside watching this video. I worked in the hotel/restaurant business in Belgium for a while and we got training by a beer expert from a brewery on how to pour beer correctly. The correct method is a hybrid of both methods shown, with a few add-ons: 1. Always use a squeaky-clean, WET glass 2. If available, use the glass shape appropriate for the beer 3. Tilt the glass, pour gently, then straighten the glass and pour a little more vigorously, timing it so you get the perfect foam head (usually around two fingers’ width worth). 4. If you feel bloated and that causes you not to be able to drink as much, GOOD. It means you were having too much. Pace yourself (beer is for drinking, not for chugging). Burp. Have a snack and be glad you’ll be passing that sobriety test. You can have another glass in half an hour. 5. If the foam head disappears after a minute or two and you’ve still got beer in that glass it means your glass is greasy/dirty. Get out of there and go to another place where they care about clean glasses. This goes for just about every Belgian and German beer out there, including beers brewed along Belgian and German styles but brewed elsewhere.

The secret is to respect the contents of your glass. The foam head is also there for flavour. A wet glass means the foam will be fine, light and delicate but won’t stick too much. I hate siping on beer I prefer to feel the effects quick. So this is what I do when chugging beers and he’s not wrong. If you chug a beer without getting rid of the carbonation you’ll likely throw up after a couple. With this technique I can chug 4-5 cans in two minutes and I don’t feel bloated or want to yak.

I always poured it the first way until there was a good 1-2 inches in the glass, then I'd tilt the glass up and keep pouring the second way. It created a head and released the aromatics without making too much foam.

As a czech i find this short weird :D neither of the pour is perfect, in my opinion you combine the two, you start with first method and in like 3 quarters you switch to the second, that way you have foam hat that prevents your beer from oxidizing but you don't loose most your bubbles... And altho there is reason for doing it that way, at the end of the day, pour beer as you prefer...

You do get a beer burp with foam. The foam is actually protecting the lager from oxidation. Best way to pour the beer (from what I learned at Oktoberfest) is to pour halfway slanted and halfway upright. You'll get about an inch or 2 of foam keeping your lager fresh. This is especially important if you're getting a liter
@@CossyMango a properly made beer exposed to the air does not oxidise that quickly. Oxidation is normally a problem during the brewing process. Ask any brewer, the CO2 in beer acts as a preservative. Its not going to change because of exposure to air within minutes of pouring into the glass. The head itself you wil find has a different flavor and smell to the beer. Often slightly more bitter. How you pour the beer depends on the beer and customer preference ultimately. Nitro stouts need a good high pour, others i like to pour down the side until 2 3rds full before dropping the glass away from the tap and back up again in one motion so the last 3rd is filled from a higher drop into the glass and so biilds the perfect head. Its not rocket science but we all enjoy the pouring experience.

Dude... youre just supposed to pour the first way until you reach halfway, then start pouring the second way. You made a perfect pour if there is 1-1.5 inches of foam (head) on top of the liquid after an uninterrupted pour.I LITERALLY learned this from a beer training course for my old job in Beer sales and draught service.
An interesting take on it, appreciate the information. However there is another take to this, there IS more than 1 way to 'correctly' pour beer. I can give you more bubbles, less bubbles, no foam, more foam, slightly agitated for less bubbles. You have your standard pouring methods but there IS more than 1 way. Done beer courses as well during bartendung training, but they dont take into account different stabdards of beer drinking.

Rolled up paper towel represents the burgers and wings in your stomach. It’s not exact but accurate enough to show you what happens to the carbonation. Same thing with soda though. Anything carbonated reacts with your god which is being stirred and churned by the muscles in your stomach.

Depends on the style of beer. In new world ‘countries’ they are obsessed with everything being ice cold….to compensate for their lack of any actual culture. Whereas many real countries in the old world have beer drinking cultures that predate refrigeration by centuries/Millenia.

I'll be honest, as someone who can't handle much carbonation bc my diaphragm is built weird, fuck yeah, flat soda and flat beer forever.
Another pro tip to remove carbonation is to add something very rough and porous, so it creates nucleation sites for all that CO2 to leave : A paper as he's done in the video (although it might change the taste so prolly don't), a chopstick, or even a bit of sugar. If it makes lots of bubbles when dropped in, it's good to go.
If you're nursing the same beer from hours like a b*tch then I get your point. Otherwise, it doesn't go flat that quickly.
Even soda you have to shake for a very long time to get the carbonation out. Just pouring it into a glas doesn't make it instantly flat.

Just about any Belgian and German must have died a little inside watching this video. I worked in the hotel/restaurant business in Belgium for a while and we got training by a beer expert from a brewery on how to pour beer correctly. The correct method is a hybrid of both methods shown, with a few add-ons:
1. Always use a squeaky-clean, WET glass
2. If available, use the glass shape appropriate for the beer
3. Tilt the glass, pour gently, then straighten the glass and pour a little more vigorously, timing it so you get the perfect foam head (usually around two fingers’ width worth).
4. If you feel bloated and that causes you not to be able to drink as much, GOOD. It means you were having too much. Pace yourself (beer is for drinking, not for chugging). Burp. Have a snack and be glad you’ll be passing that sobriety test. You can have another glass in half an hour.
5. If the foam head disappears after a minute or two and you’ve still got beer in that glass it means your glass is greasy/dirty. Get out of there and go to another place where they care about clean glasses.
This goes for just about every Belgian and German beer out there, including beers brewed along Belgian and German styles but brewed elsewhere.

The foam head is also there for flavour. A wet glass means the foam will be fine, light and delicate but won’t stick too much. Maximum enjoyment, minimum bloating, awesome flavour. Exactly the wa it should be. 😊

I hate siping on beer I prefer to feel the effects quick. So this is what I do when chugging beers and he’s not wrong. If you chug a beer without getting rid of the carbonation you’ll likely throw up after a couple. With this technique I can chug 4-5 cans in two minutes and I don’t feel bloated or want to yak.

I always poured it the first way until there was a good 1-2 inches in the glass, then I'd tilt the glass up and keep pouring the second way. It created a head and released the aromatics without making too much foam.

As a czech i find this short weird :D neither of the pour is perfect, in my opinion you combine the two, you start with first method and in like 3 quarters you switch to the second, that way you have foam hat that prevents your beer from oxidizing but you don't loose most your bubbles... And altho there is reason for doing it that way, at the end of the day, pour beer as you prefer...

You do get a beer burp with foam. The foam is actually protecting the lager from oxidation.
Best way to pour the beer (from what I learned at Oktoberfest) is to pour halfway slanted and halfway upright. You'll get about an inch or 2 of foam keeping your lager fresh. This is especially important if you're getting a liter
@@CossyMango a properly made beer exposed to the air does not oxidise that quickly. Oxidation is normally a problem during the brewing process.
Ask any brewer, the CO2 in beer acts as a preservative. Its not going to change because of exposure to air within minutes of pouring into the glass.
The head itself you wil find has a different flavor and smell to the beer. Often slightly more bitter.
How you pour the beer depends on the beer and customer preference ultimately.
Nitro stouts need a good high pour, others i like to pour down the side until 2 3rds full before dropping the glass away from the tap and back up again in one motion so the last 3rd is filled from a higher drop into the glass and so biilds the perfect head.
Its not rocket science but we all enjoy the pouring experience.

An interesting take on it, appreciate the information. However there is another take to this, there IS more than 1 way to 'correctly' pour beer. I can give you more bubbles, less bubbles, no foam, more foam, slightly agitated for less bubbles. You have your standard pouring methods but there IS more than 1 way. Done beer courses as well during bartendung training, but they dont take into account different stabdards of beer drinking.

In Holland - as far as I know, exclusively- we demand “two fingers” of a foam “collar” … the reason is twofold: 1. We like the sensation on the lips and the softer taste, 2. In a bar it proves the glass is properly cleaned, otherwise the collar will fall flat immediately

Rolled up paper towel represents the burgers and wings in your stomach. It’s not exact but accurate enough to show you what happens to the carbonation. Same thing with soda though. Anything carbonated reacts with your god which is being stirred and churned by the muscles in your stomach.
