her videos might be deeper if she actually told a story through the video, and used other people as the protagonist instead of being the center of attention all the time Edit: they might have deeper meaning if she actually explored meaningful interpretations of mental illness instead of using trite imagery and lyrics
^ they might also be deeper if she didn't fall back on classic mental health stereotypes and actually explored the effects having a mental disorder has. If she *does* experience mental health issues herself, I'd urge her to ditch the easily performed stereotypes and find a way to show a mental health journey without unending clichés lol.
Id say that ed sheerans videos when his career started were low budget, yet still very artsy since it told a story that didnt involved him (like The A Team)
DestielSnot I think it’s very true that the kids 14 rn and what we were like at 14 has for sure evolved. Like, when I think of being an edgy 14 yr old I think of my scene bangs and warped tour. It’s really interesting how being “edgy” has changed. Like, at 14, I would have NEVER considered her edgy, just like, a mainstream act. It’s kinda fascinating tbh.
I mean, I think everyone should attempt some form of art as a way to destress or for some self expression, however, not everyone was born to turn that into a job. Gabbie Hanna is just not marketable as an artist in my opinion. Everything I've seen from her is half effort, not subtle, and it feels like she thinks she knows something I don't, which is just not true. Not one emotion she portrays hasn't been experienced by another person. She isolates herself, and art is supposed to be relatable so everyone can interpret it in their own way. She's just.....
Alyssa Rowe, but she does? This video isn’t hateful, the title isn’t branded as hate either. The issue is with certain influencers, is that if you don’t yell loud enough, they won’t respond to it, but if as soon as you start yelling loudly, they’ll claim it as hate when it’s not. She can’t handle criticism, not in the slightest from what I’ve seen.
@Alyssa Rowe from what I have seen she absolutely has an issue with constructive criticism lol I have seen where she goes off and is passive aggressive to people who say the littlest of things and also on Instagram she has like 15 fake accounts (allegedly but I absolutely believe it) where she gets on there and is horrible to people and says horrible things to them if they say the slightest critique
@Alyssa Rowe nah this girl has a serious problem with handling constructive criticism. She takes everything personal also saying that a person’s art or product is awful and stating why is a valid and constructive argument. If it’s just “this song is awful” then yeah it’s kinda useless but if it’s “this song is awful and here’s why...” then they are giving constructive criticism. The thing is most UA-cam videos made about her will state why something she puts out sucks, and she still gets her panties in a twist. If she can’t handle this then this isn’t the career for her. She’s way too emotionally sensitive, arrogant, fake deep, and she tends to have a victim mentality.
@Alyssa Rowe Gabbie herself is guilty of using clickbait-y titles so I feel like it should come to no surprise that critics do as well because they have to draw in views. In the case of her poetry books, she didn’t even watch the videos from actual literary/poetry critics on UA-cam because she said they were hate. I’m not blaming her for not wanting to watch, but I think that she could do more to accept the criticism given
@Alyssa Rowe She most definitely cannot take criticism. If she did, she wouldn't be as disliked as she is right now. Also, this video was not being mean to her in the slightest.
I think Gabbie Hanna keeps doing the evil twin trope because she knows she’s really a narcissist and justifies it by pretending she has a “bad side” when that’s just...the real her
It certainly explains why she keeps playing the victim. If she distances herself from her toxic traits by pretending that's not the "real Gabbie", then she's never going to want to take responsibility for her bad choices.
I dont know her background, but from what i have seen of her as a grown woman, i can ALMOST guarantee that she actually was a victim of a narcissistic caregiver in her childhood. Learned helplessness is a thing and will manifest in the same kind of struggles i have seen in Gabby. The trauma i believe she suffered from her childhood does not just go away once u physically can move away from the abuser .... a narcissistic abuser will turn the child against their own self and they will end up unintentionally seeking those who have the same spirit as their abusive caregiver and doing everything they can to either overcome them or appease them in order to feel they have some sense of self worth and personal control. Thus, the trisha drama. It usually doesnt work and the new abuser, not having ANY sense of attachment to the person, will send these victims into a downward spiral of insecurities. Everything in Gabbys demeanor indicates this is the case .... It is actually quite sad but hey, who really cares. Thats life, right? And .... it is just Gabby right? I mean, it is not like she is one of us ... ya know, human lol
bruh literally??? & it felt so "lets throw in an extra __ seconds to get a higher view count" because when you saw her humming towards the end of the reprise and making the facial gestures, it looked like she received no direction and that it was a first take? Everything she does feels like she finds things that are easy to copy, then building a controversial self-image to drive home those views to make $.
The ‘talk-singing’ jazz teacher thing, I feel like, was 100% inspired by Twenty One Pilots. The ‘rough’ voice alongside it too and knowing she is a fan... yeah... just let Tyler do that honey
Also gives me the same vibes as that kinda awkward bit at the end of Get Busy Living by FOB. But like, at least it kind of worked there in that it was that sort of era and style yknow?
Exactly. I was sort of a fan of her music but I was wary of her because I had heard some *hit so when Jessie made that video I dropped it. If she improved herself like she says she is constantly doing then she honestly could possibly come back from all this
A friend of mine in Detroit has a family factory that used to make car parts, but after the car industry in Detroit went under, they rented it out to low-budget horror movies and video shoots. You can see the same factory in so many productions. Instant ambience!
She tries so hard to justify her work, which I get. It’s her work and she’s proud of it. But she tries so hard to do EVERYTHING- sing, dance, act, comedy, poetry. She’s a jack of all trades and a master of none. She should stick to one thing and really work towards it.
The reason her videos are all about people hurting her is because she loves to play the victim, that's her whole gig. Remember all the story times she made about crazy friends/roommates/neighbours, etc? If that many people have conflicts with you, maybe you're the issue.
I wish i knew what video it was but i remember her saying "my therapist says i have a very polarising personality" and from Gabby's tone it seemed like she had taken it as a compliment, not knowing what polarising means... :/
@@youngfunny1824 she covers like 5 different genres? It's fine if you don't like her music or her videos but i don't get why you have to comment about it
Two things Gabbie believes make her an artist: 1) Acting out the lyrics (e.g. peace sign while saying the word peaceful) 2) Dying her hair/wearing a wig
Honestly I think Gabbie has potential. But she destroys it with her personality and her bitterness. Her music videos are really boring and cringy. Expect for dandelion, which is also a good song in my opinion. I hope therapy will help since her behaviour is worrying.
Shes been in therapy off and on for over a decade I think. It hasn't helped and I dont think shes going to change. She sounds like she had a therapist who just agrees with her and never helps her analyze her problems or flaws any deeper than. "Oh yes it sounds like everyone else is the problem."
@Elisa Castro I think some songs are actual genuine but now she probably tries that. Since a lot of people find her music cringe and I don't think she makes a lot of cash with her videos anymore.
@@Ktakahashi18 I don't know much about her private life the since i never watched her. But I can see point, usually that should he a sign to change the therapist, but a narcissist will probably stay because of that. Strange that her family isn't saying anything
How old is she? She looks like is trapped in the same pop teen clichés from emo videos in early 2010's, she is living her Evanescence music video dream but the lyrics sounds like Hannah Montana pre mental breakdown.
@@laniann266 If she enjoys making fake deep music 14 year olds think is edgy and quirky that's perfectly fine. However, she does that in every song, every music video. If that is the type of music she likes to make then more power to her, but she has 0 creativity when every song she makes is edgy and dark, and every video tells the same story or lack thereof. She has no growth as an artist because she is creatively stunted at teen edgelord.
As someone who has spent many years being negative and way too self deprecating for too long, I fully agree. It is toxic for oneself and in relating to others.
Self-deprecation and toxicity stunts our emotional growth so much and that's why we lose friends and get into similarly toxic relationships. It's sad to see her like this, knowing she is so big on UA-cam and could've grown so much here and fostered a good environment along the way.
whenever i catch myself self deprecating i try and switch my perspective to seeing myself as one of my friends instead of myself if that makes sense, and ill try to think what I would say to a friend if they were saying things like that about themselves because I would never dream of talking to my friends the way I talk to myself in my head sometimes

I absolutely love "The Yellow Wallpaper"! Not enough people talk about it. The fact that it was a critique of the mental health treatment practices at the time makes it incredibly interesting to read. I mean Charlotte Perkins Gilman [/Stelson] was prescribed the rest cure herself and wrote "The Yellow Wallpaper" after feeling as though the treatment was making her mental health worse. The short story of course is exaggerated, but it still sheds light on the experience of mental health issues and the poor treatments of the past. There was surely worse treatments out there, but to read a first person perspective of the damage even something as seemingly "harmless" as the rest cure did to patients was definitely impactful.
She really isn’t like that at all. I’m sorry society has brainwashed you with so much internalized misogyny that you enjoy putting other women down. If you watched any of her vlogs she’s so chill and real. The only hate comes from people who were already given an opinion about her from someone else
YES ABOUT THE BLUSH! It’s like people don’t realize you don’t have to wear a pink blush. You need the dimension if you’re going to wear a full face of makeup.
You know what sucks? This is really well done, thoughtful, and incredibly constructive but she'll probably just call you a hater because her ego gets in her way again. She should be watching this with her notes app open, or her real life journal she probably has cuz she's so deep.
as a dancer i think she's very stiff and stilted in the choreography. not necessarily bad, but her movements just dont flow. seeing her dance gives me the same feeling as watching dua lipa dance.
girll... it might be bad but there’s no need to drag her. i think she’s really trying and nick said it in the video too. she will start improving when she starts listening to other people’s opinions
Her producers, Alina Smith and Eli Moore (two incredible women!!) really carry her music career. If you've watched any of her "making-of" videos for her songs, you can tell that they're really doing all the work. I'm not dissing Gabbie, but these producers straight up come up with lyrics on the spot and change the entire production according to their own ideas. Most of the time, Gabbie's just sitting there like "yeah! exactly!" while these two women basically finish the song on Ableton aksdasdjkfs. I hate that her producers aren't given enough credit because to me, the music production is what people always seem to enjoy with Gabbie's music. I'm personally not a fan of the tone of Gabbie's voice, even if it improved over the years.
The Yellow Wallpaper was a haunting, incredibly depressing but unforgettable story. The woman had Post-Partum Depression and her husband/family were just HUGE RICHARDS!
You uploaded this the moment my Ubereats order arrived and I sat back down to do some work so looks like I won't be doing work for the next 28 minutes.
I was so close to actually being impressed by how much effort she seems to genuinely put in and I actually sort of like her voice...and then we got to the spoken word post main video part. Never mind - I’m out lol
This sounds vaguely familiar to me-if you watch some of her behind the scenes videos (at least one in particular-can’t remember the exact song off the top of my head though) she openly talks about being frustrated with the makeup artist because they didn’t do what she wanted, maybe even were late? I can’t remember exactly
There isn’t one song where she doesn’t feel the need to be a victim, or depressed, or have a terrifying twist. I don’t see a single song where she doesn’t lament some part of her life. They are one emotion, and if that’s all she feels then I feel bad for her.
To be fair, I'd be a little bothered by this video. To me, this video isn't criticism in the way criticism should be, a lot of it is just plain rude. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Gabbie fan, I am quite indifferent actually. I feel like I have a pretty unbiased opinion, but he basically just trashed every aspect of every single video for 27 minutes lol.
I don't see how it's an overall rude video, I agree that some people may see some parts as a bit mean, but other than that he's pointing out how she isn't evolving and then blaming everyone but herself for losing interest. Also if she uses the same things in almost every video that a 27 minute video can be made, then it's a problem. He gives credit where it's due and some tips to improve. I don't know what else you can ask for. Humor (up to you to decide if it's good or not), some helpful tips, calling out lack of creativity, not cringy, doesn't deviate from the topic or talk in circles.
@@andreamartinez249 well I and other people can see how its rude. Also you have to think about his intentions when making the video, all of them and whether or not he meant it only to help .... I dont think he did.

Oh definitely, her sound is solid. Her lyrics aren't the best, but they're ok. Her voice is nice, although nothing special but her music sounds good enough. She's just not a good person.
The scene with her drenching herself in gasoline getting ready to light herself on fire while balling her eyes out hysterically is preeettyyyy concerning if I do say so myself.
I don’t actually mind some of her music and I think she could actually find some success if only she learnt to be so much less defensive and take constructive criticism as advice and not insult. She just needs to work on her personality and how she represents herself to the public.
Your beeping and scoobing bibbity bop music teacher teaching jazz thing during your segment about her spoken word actually made me laugh out loud and that’s so rare 😆 love you
She’s deadass so salty that teenagers on the internet can create & understand more complex art than her. i love that you brought up 911 because i’m a HUGE gaga fan but i also think she’s a perfect artist to use as an example because every one of her music videos is different. Marry the Night’s MV has some shared elements with Gabbie (freakout in a messy space, rain on set, something burning, etc) but each of those elements see part of a clear story that reveals intimate moments of gaga’s life to her fans. Even smaller creators with similar or lower budget to Gabbie have created awesome music videos; just look at Danny Gonzales or Cody & Noel (aka Tiny Meat Gang). Broke Bitch and Sofia probably had similar budgets to what she’s working with but they really elevate their production and you can especially tell that Noel has a strong directorial vision by looking at his short films/sketches. Budget constraints aren’t an excuse for the low creativity or lack of artistic direction in her work, and I hate that she dismisses all the genuine criticism she gets as hate when her stuff would be so much better if she took it into account.
Those contrasting scenes at the end that Gabby adds is the equivalent of all of us in the 5th grade adding “and then they woke up” to our stories.

her videos might be deeper if she actually told a story through the video, and used other people as the protagonist instead of being the center of attention all the time
Edit: they might have deeper meaning if she actually explored meaningful interpretations of mental illness instead of using trite imagery and lyrics

@@rgbow_ I see you and applaud you for not falling her crap. 👏👏👏
I dont think I would've enjoyed her when I was 14 but then again I had taste and also a different preference in music lol.
This is 🤌
she's giving the "nobody's gonna know" tiktok vibe. Like Gabbie, we all know
When she actually takes constructive criticism instead of branding it all as ‘hate’, then she will truly grow as an artist and individual.
I think Gabbie Hanna keeps doing the evil twin trope because she knows she’s really a narcissist and justifies it by pretending she has a “bad side” when that’s just...the real her
I agree with this
Super insightful comment. Kudos. I never thought of it that way.
Shes the monster that's been there all along

Two things Gabbie believes make her an artist:
1) Acting out the lyrics (e.g. peace sign while saying the word peaceful)
2) Dying her hair/wearing a wig
Honestly I think Gabbie has potential. But she destroys it with her personality and her bitterness. Her music videos are really boring and cringy. Expect for dandelion, which is also a good song in my opinion. I hope therapy will help since her behaviour is worrying.
Shes been in therapy off and on for over a decade I think. It hasn't helped and I dont think shes going to change. She sounds like she had a therapist who just agrees with her and never helps her analyze her problems or flaws any deeper than. "Oh yes it sounds like everyone else is the problem."
@ILLUMINAUGHTY maybe it's that but for me she is just obsessed with this concept. As if she has to prove it again and again. Which is just sick

There's a point where focusing on negative traits about yourself becomes toxic and gabbie hanna's whole brand is that moment.

Fortuna Major No, Drama and commentary channels do it for me.
A WHITE MUSIC TEACHER SHOWIN THE CLASS ABOUT JAZZ I SCREEEEEEEECHED
gabby hanna gives me h&m vibes i dont know how else to say it
ugh the worst thing about this is that her music actually sounds appealing to me (**not the lyrics lmao). but she gives me bad vibes so I'm really not interested in giving her any support ):
Oh definitely, her sound is solid. Her lyrics aren't the best, but they're ok. Her voice is nice, although nothing special but her music sounds good enough. She's just not a good person.
i’m not invested in her music but i feel like she has some bit of potential
get therapy lmao
pirate it, that way you won't be giving her any money
@@raccoonsincocoons5643 fanmade lyric videos ftw
The scene with her drenching herself in gasoline getting ready to light herself on fire while balling her eyes out hysterically is preeettyyyy concerning if I do say so myself.
That Yellow Wallpaper reference had me cracking up... well done!
I don’t actually mind some of her music and I think she could actually find some success if only she learnt to be so much less defensive and take constructive criticism as advice and not insult. She just needs to work on her personality and how she represents herself to the public.
"Rat scare in walmart vibes" 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣. I think I'm actually crying.

CUT THE CAMERAS.. So we can relocate and make it ~~dramatic~~
Hahah cackling 😂
She is the definition of “try-hard”
"But angrier, like a shift supervisor at sephora" HOW DID HE KNOW-
Your beeping and scoobing bibbity bop music teacher teaching jazz thing during your segment about her spoken word actually made me laugh out loud and that’s so rare 😆 love you
She’s deadass so salty that teenagers on the internet can create & understand more complex art than her. i love that you brought up 911 because i’m a HUGE gaga fan but i also think she’s a perfect artist to use as an example because every one of her music videos is different.
Noel did Super Xan for $3000 and it even had a horse 😆
