Over the past few months, I’ve been rewatching a show called Supernatural. As a kid, I grew up absolutely loving this show. I stuck around for the first five seasons, and then around season 6 or 7, I lost interest. I thought the quality and story direction took a steep dive, and I figured the show wouldn’t be around too much longer anyways. Well I was wrong, and it went on for another 10 seasons after after season 5, sho while I remember this show quite fondly, I only ever watched less than 50% of the entire story.

SPN is my all time favorite tv show, EVER! It had its really low moments but I was there from beginning to end. I was a senior in high school when it premiered & was in my 30 & married with 3 kids when it ended. Needless to say, this show will always have a special place in my heart. I know it was on 15 seasons but I’ll always miss my boys!!
Funny/disgusting fact: they filmes the bugs episode with real bugs, but you couldnt see them so the just added cgi bugs. Imagine having to go through that and then having cgi bugs added anyway
Honestly I used to laugh at supernatural fanatics. The few that I met were literally insane. But then I caught an episode on TNT and enjoyed it. Then I binged like 8 seasons before I fell off. But I still say those first 5seasons are perfect! Then I found out that that’s when the writer wanted the show to end so it all makes sense! I still haven’t finished it but I’ll always hold those firs 5 in high regard. Glad you’re doing this! You should do Lost!

The first 5 seasons of Supernatural to me are and will always be perfect television. Although the later seasons are still great, those first 5 really do hit that sweet spot
After The Walking Dead, Supernatural is my favorite show. S1, E2: "Wendigo" is my favorite episode of the season and the series. I hope to see more episode and season breakdowns from you in the future.
I love Supernatural so much that I made an oc based off of a legend and I wrote every single important scene from the show with her in it. If I get the motivation I just might fill in the rest and post it on a fanfic website
I didn't think of how different tv shows we're back in the day when it came to story serialization but your right now that I think about it tv shows back in the day we're mostly filler episodes with a few episodes to continue the main story but tv shows now either have all story episodes and no filler or some filler episodes but mostly story episodes, yeah I guess since tv shows now have 8 to 10 episodes max now sometimes 13 episodes there's no time for filler get to the main meat and potatoes of the shows story.
First you hook me in with TWD videos... And now I'm 100% staying for more. My 2 favourite shows ever.

I liked the benders cause after like 10 episodes in a row of Dean being like "I dont think this is a job for us" then it actually not being anything supernatural was interesting. I've only watched season 1 but at least 1 non supernatural episode for the series just for the sake of throwing a wrench into things is definitely something they shouldve done, i wouldnt describe it as them running out of ideas
Plus it was based in a real family way back in the day. They would have men come and stay the night and k!ll them and steal their stuff(claims have been made they ate them but there’s no confirmation either way) Once people got wind of what they were doing they ran off and disappeared. So this episode is kinda like “this is where the family ended up and these are their descendants. So it totally fits with the show in being based off a piece of history/legends. They had a couple other episodes based off of true crime but most of these were ghosts and stuff. But I did enjoy a case being just humans being monsters rather than real monsters
One of the reasons it doesnt feel like a CW show is because it originally wasnt. It started as a WB show and was inherited to the CW when channels merged together.
Supernatural is my all time favorite TV series. I can't get enough of it. I think season 1 is excellent.

I love supernatural I got all the seasons on DVD . I started watching season 3 off a recommendation it was well worth it , I went back from there and watched 1&2 and as much as I love the show and season 1 now I'm not sure if I would of got into it as much if I started watching season 1 first , but all and all great show and season 1 is good , great retrospective

Same here, used to watch and love it back in the days and just TWO WEEKS AGO I suddenly decided to rewatch it and try to catch up on all the craziness that followed after I stopped following the story
First seasons are great and now as a much more experienced and mature person I can truly appreciate some deeper themes and perceive them from different perspective
I'll still contest that the first 3 seasons are the best 3 seasons in all of TV history. And the Pilot is still probably my favourite Pilot of all time.

Season 10 is my favorite of the bunch because of the mark of cain dean storyline, and he was a beast in that season
I started watching Supernatural over 5 years ago at the very beginning of 2018. I heard a lot about it (some good, some bad, some weird…) and I figured I’d give it a try. Seasons 1-5 I absolutely loved and that’s what most people say as well. I then watched Seasons 6, 7, 8, & 9 and while I don’t think it was all terrible per say, the show definitely went downhill with its main storyline and just felt very repetitive which is still shocking to me how the show went on for 15 seasons if that didn’t change 😂
I stopped watching after I finished Season 9 but I’ve been considering picking back up where I left off at the very beginning of Season 10 but I haven’t done that yet and it’s been nearly 6 years 😂
However seeing that the show finally ended in 2020 and seeing your great videos you made Thrifty I may just pick this show back up where I last left off and try to answer that question as well is 15 Seasons to many. Season 1 is such a god damn starting season. Sure, you can argue there's the worst episodes of the show like Bugs and Route 666, but just understand usually a first season is the one where they're more likely to go through a few kinks in the road and building up worldbuilding and the sort.
Personally, I think this season is definitely a 8.5/10, maybe a 9 on a good day. For a starting season, that's amazing.

The things that they originally only planned for the first 5 seasons. Really took them season 6-8 to right the ship. Only show I stayed on that long.
I started supernatural 4 months ago and watched all the 15 seasons in less than 2 months, during which I was at uni but really did nothing apart waking up, watching supernatural until i sleep.
I loved it so much and felt like "I just watched what others took 15 years to watch in 2 months 😒".
I never could have waited 1 year, let alone 15, to watch it all.

Really happy you're covering this show, people probably see you as the "Walking Dead Guy", but I just enjoy the way you review things. I end up not watching some of your videos though because sometimes you review things I haven't watched and I'm like "hmmm maybe at some point i will, better not spoil it for me." I recently started rewatching Supernatural though so this is perfect for me, I'm currently mid season 4, I think I got to season 11 at one point like 4-5 years ago but I've forgotten a lot since then. Great vid though I look forward to your more in depth reviews of individual episodes, keep up the good work!

I saw season one around 11-12 years ago, I only come back for a few episodes, I'm not really a huge fan of the first two seasons.

I am so happy to see you doing this review for Supernatural. I cant say a favorite episode. Some are great, some are good, and some are ...different. I do think that you nailed it with the actors. They make the show. Yes story lines come and go but the thing for me is the love these brothers have for each other. They would do anything for each other. I do regret that Jeffrey Morgan was on the series for such a short time. He did bring a lot to the show. Something you did not mention and to be honest was not a big focus was the 67 Hardtop Impala. This becomes ...it's own character in later seasons I guess. Your video was great! Your review was wonderful and pointed out things I never considered. I was just along foe the ride! I can't wait for your next review!
I didn’t understand who there dad’s three friends Jim, Jack and Jose were until I was older and I rewatched. And now I find that hilarious.

Dead mans blood sounds like it took inspiration from Interview With A Vampire, as in that movie Tom Cruise teaches the little girl to not drink dead or old blood.

Back when it was originally airing on TV me and my dad always watched the new episodes. After the 5th season we literally thought it was the end of the series (bc it originally was). Then a couple of years later I learn the show was still going. I was so confused.

My favorite paranormal heroes are in no particular order are Hellboy, Buffy Summers, Ash Williams, Dante, Blade, Mystery Inc. (Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne), Ghostbusters (Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston), John Constantine, Alexandra Trese and the Winchester brothers.

I absolutely agree in that Dean is constantly seeking approval from his father, but I don't necissarily agreein that Dean actually wants the hunting life and is happy with it (although it appears like that at first glance). It just looks like that because he wants to be respected and loved by his dad. I think episode 1x06 (Skin) is a good example how a lot of what Dean does is just a performance, and he's full of self-esteem issues. But because he's always had to be the older brother and take care of Sam he never got what Sam got - a way to (temporarily) break free and gain some freedom. In the later seasons (spoiler) that plot is continued with Chuck trying to control Dean. So Dean's free will and his continuous struggle to find his own happiness is a very important storyline and while it seems in season 1 that Dean is the one embracing the hunting lifestyle, in later seasons it's actually reversed.

I love this show. Me and dad watched together are we are currently in season 11,I love the monster of the week episode.

I always found it strange that I lost total interest in the show during the seasons that everyone else seemed to love (pretty much castiel just existing in them)

I dunno man i liked the benders, it was a nice suprise and change of pace, just being a freaky family of humans, it has an interesting message: monsters have patterns, theyre born evil tho that gets mucked up later, humans dont they're random and chaotic
I do feel what you are saying about sam being the “true protagonist” however I don’t fully agree as I believe they are both the true protagonist due to their parallels. “Leaving” each other dead to get out of hunting and starting a new “family”, sam loosing his soul while dean became a demon, sam being Lucifer’s vessel and dean Michaels, Sam stuck in the cage and dean tortured in hell plus more I’m most likely forgetting. Otherwise loved the video!
I’m jumping way ahead here but Covid fucked up the ending of this show for sure. I actually hope it gets a soft reboot at some point and they can end it the way they always intended, not that it was bad it was more underwhelming especially when you know or at least have an idea of what was originally planned for the last episode. John and Mary and pretty much anyone that was ever in the show and close to Sam and Dean was supposed to make an appearance of some sort which would’ve been bitter sweet.
There are several reasons to keep watching the series. At the very least it's an experience, if you watched the first five seasons you should know that you watched the Eric Kripke era, seasons 6-7 the Sera Gamble era, seasons 8-11 the Jeremy Carver era, and seasons 12-15 the Andrew Dabb era (the worst, in my opinion and the opinion of adequate fans). Eric Kripke, when writing the script for the Swan Song episode, said: "Okay, guys do you want to continue? Fine, but it's going to be a sequel movie", and so it happened, Season 6 was a pretty good post-apocalyptic sequel. The thing is, when some ancient fans decide to go back to watching Supernatural, they will have a hard time because season 7 lost quality for a number of reasons, simply put, Sera Gamble was unlucky, but she is a professional, I suggest you watch her project "You" if you don't believe me. Season 8 was Jeremy Carver's debut as showrunner, and then you realize SHOW RETURNS, the plot is well structured, expansion of the story in the universe, good local stories (MOTW episodes), epic season 11 was my favorite after the first 5 seasons..... And, since Warner Bros. wanted to continue Supernatural after Kripke so badly, they should have ended on season 11, it would have been a great finale, but unfortunately, season 12 was born and shit started happening from there. This is a quick review for those who gave up on the series after season five.

It changes from the monster of the week in the future. Get towards the end of the season and you’ll see more of the overarching story. And if you stop watching just be sure to keep watching my Supernatural vids 😜😂

It gets MUCH better, seasons 2 and 3 are SO good.
It absolutely gets better. As with all long running series there are episodes I get bored with, but I have seen this series 3 times over since 2020 and overall it’s one of my favorites.

My uncle says he loves both Supernatural and The Walking Dead, but he couldn’t figure out who Negan was when they were teasing the character with voiceovers. That’s kinda funny to me.

Where can i watch supernatural?
While I do have my criticisms of the show, mainly season 6-15 as I too thought the writing and the story direction went down hill after season 5, I do have a soft spot for this show. This sounds cliche but when I started watching the show, I was going through a very rough time and I feel in love with the show until the problems of the show showed up.
Recently, I just rewatched the first 5 seasons with my mom as it was her first time to watch it, she enjoyed it, and then I watched the last four seasons of the show since I stopped around when season 12 premiered. And like I said, the later seasons have their problems like they have some good ideas but either they drop it or it gets resolved really quickly, and that really annoyed me. And also the way the show would kill characters off but then bring them back a few episodes later also irritated me.
But nothing compares to the first 5 seasons. I can rewatch those seasons many times and enjoy it every time.
