- We just finished building this Walnut and Wenge Banjo with a black pearl crow and feather inlay. It has a very warm sound with a long crisp ring. I remember when we were building the rim for this banjo, it's tap tone was lower in pitch and resonated really well. 12 inch pot with a rolled brass ring. Let us know what you think of it! I learned this tune 2 or 3 years ago from this video of Lukas' playing and have stayed away while I got it down. I thought I'd check it out again. I was delighted that I'd got as much of it as I have - but there is so much effortless-sounding detail and variation that I haven't got near yet. Thank you Lukas. Still my model for style and sound.
I just love the layers of tone going on here .. I know part of that is Lukas's consimate playing but the banjo is giving a lot too ..Hitting those bass notes and letting them ring through the melody line takes a very special banjo and a great clawhammerist ..... All the best , Guy
