  • Technics SA-700 function test before shipping from Holland to its new owner in Poland :)
This SA-700 has undergone a full rebuild performed by Second Life Audio Holland; thoroughly cleaned out- and inside, all caps, light bulbs, trimmers for bias, differential transistors and speaker relay replaced, switches and potmeters serviced, all solder joints checked and reflowed where necessary and last, but not least a full retrim of the FM radio part.
It was built the 20th of june 1978, presently over 44 years old and with this rebuild hopefully ok for the next 44 years!
One of the great '70s "monster" (*) receivers of Technics, the smaller sibling of the famous SA-1000, winner of the great '70s receiver war.
(*) A monster receiver "officially" has a power rating of +120 Watt, this SA-700 comes to 100 Watt, so technically it is a "normal" receiver :).
PS: The song is Masselinjen performed by Kliché

The SA-700, 800 and 1000 were beautifully designed. From when I first saw one in 1978,
I always wanted a SA-1000. I was a teen in ‘78 and couldn’t afford one. Now I see them going for $5k to $15k and can’t justify getting one.
I bought a much-neglected SA-700 a few months ago for $400 + shipping. Bulbs were burned out. The inside was oily and extremely dusty. I’ve seen 20-year-old weed eaters that looked better.
Anyhow, took it all apart, cleaned it thoroughly (don’t ask, but it is very clean now), replaced bulbs, fuses, etc., and cleaned every contact with DeoxiT.
It works great. Sound is still very good, and no problems with it at all.
