Hello Helen! I loved this setup! For the plastic cover ( or any cover) with the Hobonichi binding you can flip the cardboard covers all the way, both at the same time then when they together you can easily get the plastic cover on both sides at the same time, and slowly turn them back to place, this way you don't need to bend the cardboard cover at any point. and your book will be intact, by this method you can easily leave the vellum without glue tape and change things often, because you can remove and put it back the plastic cover as many times you want :) My English is terrible but I hope it helps someone.
I was going to leave the same comment so I was happy to see other people already have mentioned this! 👍 Somehow I managed to figure this out last year when putting my cover on my 2021 Cousin, it was scary at first to bend back it back that much but it was totally fine, the spine is so well made it doesn't hurt it at all!

This is so awesome Helen 💓 The Midori clear cover you purchased is the A5 1 Day 1 Page Codex clear cover, which is different from their normal A5 clear cover. Anyone wanting to buy this particular cover like Helen's please find the cover that is labelled "Codex"! The Codex cover is great if your Cousin is going to expand over the year.
Thanks for sharing this info! I got just the regular A5 one and it does fit (tightly!) but it'd be cool to have it be a bit more roomy so I can put more things in there and not worry it'll get too big 😂

Love the setup! Im so excited to start my new one! Pro tip for putting on those covers so you don't have to bend the hobonichi - open the journal holding on to all of the pages except for the cover pages and let the cover pages go backwards. It'll easily slide into the cover slots that way without bending any pages. Hope that makes sense haha

That's also how you can make those covers fit a chunky planner 🤪 Speaking from experience lol!!! Super cute set up and I love your chatty videos!! 💕

i love the cover that hobonichi sells to go with the planner, so many useful pockets, so protective, and totally worth the price imo. plus you can get the clear plastic cover-on-cover that provides even more protection (and i put the cute little poster that came with mine in between the fabric cover and the plastic one)

Yes!! I would LOVE to see some TCMC designs for the right hand side calendar page as well as the monthly calendar pages in the Hobonichi. (For this year I got myself Virgo & Paper kits. Ashton makes some great kits for monthly and weekly in the Hobonichi planners, thought I'd mention just in case you didn't know of her shop) but yeah I'd love a TCMC kit for the monthly section with a bottom washi sticker like the vertical kits have. (I've been cutting the one from the vertical kit down so it can fit 😂)
Love this!! I’ve been putting off setting up my stalogy (testing it out before I get a hobonichi!) and this is perfect/ gorgeous!! And definitely am more encouraged about getting/using vellum sometime (hopefully when you do it again 💜)

This is going to sound horrifying, but the easiest way to put a cover on a Hobonichi is to open the front and back covers as far as they can phyisically go, and then slide both sides into the Midori at more or less the same time. I've done it with multiple Hobonichi planners and notebooks, and it never causes any issue, because they do such a good job at building that spine.
Yes exactly!!! I was scared to do it at first but it's the best way to put on the cover and I've never had an issue with it either. It's awesome that it works on all the Hobonichi planners, I did this to put the clear cover on my Weeks too 👍

Could you by chance link the Midori cover you ordered? The "Midori A5 Clear Cover" I got for my Hobonichi Cousin Avec this year would not fit a full Hobonichi Cousin without some applied heat/stretching. Please and thank you!

After I put in on I do put it under a stack of books for a few days to help it crease along the spine in the right places & then it's worked for me all year. Midori MD Notebook Cover A5 Size www.amazon.ca/dp/B003CT47XW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apan_glt_i_8XS16BPB2SM4B5SSE8CQ (just in case you don't already know this) pro tip : bend back the back & front covers of your Hobonichi at the same time - don't worry it won't hurt the spine - and slide both sides in to the clear cover at the same time, so you don't have to bend your Hobonichi to get it in the cover. There's other comments on here that describe this method too 👍)

i have purchased two Midori covers already for the Hobonichi cousin and none of them leave a gap like that ; they are tight fitting. I wonder why yours looks like that when putting the cover on?

I’ve noticed if you use it eraser even on pen or marker it comes off when I smudge on the hobonichi paper

@@starbucksmocha88 Thank you for this! I saw people saying that the regular one fit, but others saying they had trouble so I was surprised to see Helen's fit so easily. (Figured out later she had the cover for the Midori 1 Day 1 Page.) Glad to know that the one on Amazon is still an option!
@@amym9867 yeah I actually just put my cover on a few days ago (the regular size one) and it fits so nicely I actually don't think I'd want the larger codex one personally. But it's nice there's options! Hope you find one that you like 👍

i have purchased two Midori covers already for the Hobonichi cousin and none of them leave a gap like that ; they are tight fitting. I wonder why yours looks like that when putting the cover on?
