@@skyoimiya Mirko’s voice is not sharper than Gid. In fact, it’s much fuller and sounds whole and the enunciation of words are more accurate. And Gid pronounces letters p and b a bit stronger, while Mirko’s has more air to it. Gid’s phrasing is also different. I hope I explained it well for ya 😅
Wolf is right. They called it group stage for what? Some good teams are getting 'Knocked Out' in group stage while some weaker teams got lucky because they were put in a weaker group/only has 1 good team, if you know what I mean.
Group stage is normally for 'Grouping' (upper/lower bracket) and Knock out stage is for 'Knocking out/Elimination'. Idk who tossed this idea to eliminate half the team in each group for M5 but it is terrible. All teams deserve to be in K.O stage and crawl their way to the top by eliminating every possible threat to them and not because they got lucky that they weren't in the same group where most of the strong teams were.
This format just gave the advantage to the good top teams that survived their bloodbath group and feast on the weaker teams that got lucky because of this grouping format. We can't even identify the ranking of each region or teams now because of this format. It doesn't justify their strength/power level just because they were eliminated in group stage. Teams in each group doesn't even have similar power rankings. The discrepancy is huge on some groups like Group A and Group C which makes it unfair for the rest of the region who was pitted and eliminated each other in other groups while the lucky weaker teams just have to win few matches and aim for 2nd place in their group. Top 1 in each group A and C has huge skill gap that they can hide their strategies and Meta picks while Group B and D has to give it their all to secure their Knock Out spot. IDK man, it is just straight up terrible to have this format in a world stage with huge discrepancy in power level.

It's not like they put the group together randomly, id and ph rep all put in a different group for example, and there's no weak team that got lucky, if you manage to be top of your group you're definitely strong, and if we see top group get stomped in the knock out stage, it's prolly just because they're up against onic lol
And if you didn't manage to even make top 2 in your group that DIDN'T put together randomly, you're definitely weak

I just want to point out though that Group A had 2 teams with 0 win for a while until both weak teams got pitted to each other while in Group B and D have top teams losing to bottom half ending on possible tiebreakers until the 'eliminated' team defeated the possible top team finishers in their group, in short it was a bloodbath.

@@istayro its not only his voice. He questions player decisions like he knows better. He asks other caster opinions like he does not know the game. And he does this anti-climactic “oh, oh, oh” during team fights and play by plays. Wth!! 🤦

IMO if they have to eliminate teams in the group stage then the group stage itself should have been done better. The problem with this format is that in the group stage you only really prove yourself against three teams which is just 1/4th of the entire field. In M3 and M4 it was fine because no one was eliminated and it allowed teams that were placed in harder groups to still prove themselves against the other groups. For example see M4 Incendio (current Fire Flux) and The Valley (mostly in TOB) who started in lower bracket but got 7th-8th and 5th-6th respectively.
If they have to eliminate teams from groups then they could've made group stage just 2 groups with 8 teams each, so everyone would've played half the teams already after the group stages.
But in the end I think the main motivator for the format here is the cost. They've already done the no elimination in groups format before but didn't continue it now I think mostly because wildcards now exist which made moonton run 2 tournaments in a row and I don't think sponsors cover all the costs of that.
It's sad because having all 16 teams in playoffs should do more good to the teams especially in establishing fan bases that will support them and would also add to motivation. NA and Turkey again is a good example of this. The Valley showed in M4 that the BTK M3 run wasn't a fluke and even though they finished lower than in M3 they still placed right after the two behemoths that are PH and Indo and that helped them retain a fanbase. Same with Turkey. Imagine if Incendio didn't proceed to playoffs in M4, I don't think Fire Flux would be as strong as they are now.
Thats why some world tourney has last chance stage...where all the supposedly eliminated team brawl for last ticket to lower bracket..normally from 8..only 2 will go...something like that.. but idk what is the implication of that format for m5 series
They already did that in wild card.. People just need to accept the fact that group of death is inevitable for international competition
In world cup, you are Japan, you need to fight against Germany and Spain.. Would you cry and complaining about the group? Or you just did what Japan just did, play well beat germany and spain to top the group regardless of how hard the opponents?
Same as Morocco.. Who needs to fight against Belgium and Croatia.. Morocco also top their group.. And almost made it to the final ffs
Being on the group of death doesn't guarantee you to be eliminated..
I dont understand why casters are so sour about this...basically every other sport in the world follow this format. This format actually gives all the teams be it weak or strong, a chance to go to the next round. As we all know in knockout stages anything can happen so its only fair weaker teams get a chance to go to knockout stage too. It might affect viewership for sure as most fans wont watch if top teams are not playing but it is good overall.
All the teams who made it to KO stage are good. It’s just new format and most tournaments follow this format. Plus more entertainment from the get go cuz it’s do or die in the group stage.

Yeah, i'm more for the 8 teams that are first an second of each groups start in upper-bracket and 3rd and 4th battle against each others in lower-bracket to still have a chance to be in the grand final. Come on, it's just once a year, let them have a second chance if they had bad luck in group stage !!!
Good format actually, you can see the teams like DeVu and FF step up for their game. They played like there's no tommorow, and look at the result? FF beat Blacklist and DeVu beat Homebois and they almost beat GeekFam too. So yeah, i like this format, more challenging and more importantly there's no "having fun" teams in there. Every teams try their best even if they're losing the match.
It's like Japan and Morocco in World Cup.. Japan need to fight against Germany and Spain in group.. Meanwhile Morocco Need to fight against Croatia and Belgium in group
And yet Both Japan and Morocco can play well and finishing on top of their group..
But let me present the reverse of that though. In M4 hat same FF team (as Incendio) finished 3rd in group stage after a grueling tiebreakers against Blacklist and Falcon, then went in to finish Top 8 overall after a lower bracket run. In this current format you won't see that. I get that M4 format was BO1 instead of BO3 but there still was that variance in the groups where group A had a 3 way tie while in group C Echo literally destroyed everyone.

Yea, like The Valley last M4. Nobody expected them to do good in the lower bracket.
Atleast they had a Bo3 in all the group stage matches. They all had at the very least three games to prove themselves. It's unfortunate that a lot of "good" teams were taken out but this is a freaking World's stage! If you can't keep up with the world's best in this format, how are you gonna prove yourself as the best in your own style? I loved this format. It gave me teams like DeVu and Fireflux to support for, who has totally taken the M series by storm.
Also, Luck is a known factor in every aspects of a game or a match. You shouldn't blame your incompetence on luck. The best players make their own luck and the best example of that is the comeback game between APBren and Team Flash.
The best format is like the MPL format, let all teams fight with the rest of participating teams and accumulate points until playoffs.
To make it more intense, the next M series group stage format:
2 teams in 1 group with BO5 format, so we have 8 groups and only 1st place from each group will qualify. 💀💀💀💀

This Format is good in all world Sport tournament they using the Same,example Football worldcup and Basketball and in you lose 2games in group Stage you dont deserve be in Playoffs

Nah that would make it more luck based. Imagine all id and ph team got stuck in one team and only one team could make it. That would be so much wasted potential. Win that group only to witness grand finals with them vs other weak teams who got lucky in the draw. The current format is the best!
That's even worse, not only all indo and all ph teams can be pitted in the same group..
But it's also can pitted fire flux into Ap Bren and ONIC, or BG with Ap Bren and ONIC.. They may play well and beat the 3rd team but in no world they can beat Bren and Onic to the playoff despite the fact that they both get to playoff with this format
Good 4mat....i think this format is the best in all M series.in a group stage u must show ur strenght to qualify to 2nd stages...in 2nd stage if u lost....ur going to lower bracket and have a chance to win and climb up to the finals.....
Maybe change the format to Group stage to Swiss stage. After the Swiss stage then they will proceed to the so called "Knock-out stage" where in there is no room for error because it is the elimination round directly. In this way the format "Knock-out" will be much harder and exciting for us viewers because the best team will going head to head to each other because they have only 1 life in the stage. Hopefully in m6 this might be fix

Nah, this format is just fine. The group stage is used to reveal the top 2 in your group. If you cant be in the top 2 in your group at least then you dont deserve the knockout stage. That is just how it is.
And yes, there is some luck involved because the teams are picked randomly or by lottery. And that is better than being predetermined by someone.
Just try again and be better next time for all the teams that have been knocked out.

Badut la Malaysia. At least Todog always go through. We really downgraded bad. Not that we were ever any good but to lose to 2 teams without a proper league structure is embarrassing. 3 teams if you count SakitMentalGaming

Personally, i would prefer a round robin style first then playoffs/elimination match with no lower bracket (like NBA). so we get to see them pair up against all teams.
That's a league lady, not a tournament 😂 learn about the difference first.
NBA = league
Basketball WC = tournament
MPL = league
M-series = tournament
If they need to pair against one another even once it'll take about half a year atleast to finish the M5.

i agree the thing is it would take a lot of time and budget to finish the group stage.. in MPL PH we have 8 teams and it would take a whole month to for all the team have a match to each other.
Whatever format you make, it would all just lead to the inevitable Bren vs Onic finals.
Love this format actually. Best of 1 just like the previous years is trash. They don’t take the group stage too serious.And putting unworthy teams on playoffs is kinda disappointing to watch

Rather than blaming the format, you can just play better, no? I don't think big team like apbren or onic focus on thinking about this. at least in the groupstage it's Bo3 and there is lower bracket in the KO, so play like there is no tomorrow. FF and DeVu can do it so the others could do it too.

I understand Wolf is just sad to see potentially good teams to go. But they just messed up or not well-prepared enough to make it. Nothing wrong with the format.
And we should all be happy because we are now in a time that every team is so good and competitive that we all want them to be in the knockout stage.
Teams should have treated the group stage as a mini knockout stage and bring their best game.

This new format makes no sense at all. They could've just stuck with the old format from M3 and M4. This M5 format is so s**t. Teams that are actually pretty good, are going home before even showing what they can do.
Also the tournament used to last for 2 weeks . This M5 has like a 4 day pause between the group stages and knockout stages. Are they lazy or what ? 😂😂😂
At least they've made the Prime skin better this time.
But still i would've enjoyed to watch more the M5 . Imagine half of the tournament already finished in 5 days at this point... I hope M6 will not be like this
