Historic fact:
Sergeant Alvin York from Tennessee made his name known on the 8th of October, 1918 during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive when he led 16 men against the German defensive machine gun nests on Hill 223. They worked their way behind the Germans and overran the headquarters of a German unit, capturing a large group of German Soldiers, when machine gun fire rang out killing 6 Americans and wounding 3 others. Sergeant York ordered the remaining 7 soldiers to guard the captured Germans while he worked his way towards the German guns. After exchanging gunfire with the Germans, York was charged by 6 Germans with fixed bayonets. Out of ammo for his rifle, Sergeant York drew his pistol and shot all 6 before they could reach him. German Army First Lieutenant Paul Jürgen Vollmer emptied his pistol at York while he was contending with the machine guns. Failing to injure York, and seeing his mounting losses, he offered to surrender the unit to York, who accepted. Sergeant York and his remaining men men marched 132 German prisoners back to the American lines.
The 82nd Infantry Division was given the nickname “All Americans” to reflect its unique composition of having soldiers from all 48 states (at the time). As the 82nd Infantry Division their motto was “All The Way!” and after they were redesignated the 82nd Airborne Division in 1942 their motto became “Death From Above.”

Elize is a wonderful vocalist. Amaranthe brings something different to the tunes, I believe you will enjoy exploring their catalog and more of the Sabaton catalog.

Amaranthe was awsome on the Great Tour and so was Apocalyptica. Sadly only Apocalyptica performed on stage with Sabaton in Stockholm.

Positive Crunch actually another great Scandinavian band you might want to check out is Volbeat from Denmark. Someone once said that they are the band Elvis would have put together if he had started a metal band. A few recommendations from them would be a Doc Holiday ( live from Telia Parken), heavy and very Metallica-esque. Sad Man's tounge from the same concert for Elvis/Johnny Cash vibes. Die To Live for a great upbeat party song from their latest album. Other great songs Leviathan, Still Counting, Lola Montez, Lonesome Rider, The Devil's Bleeding Crown, Seal the Deal, 16 dollars or anything from their latest album Rewind Replay Rebound. Have fun and enjoy Denmark.
By the way, Elize Ryd is the name of the female singer in Amaranthe. She was one of the girls who stepped in and did vocals for Nightwish in Seattle when Anette was sick and ultimately left the band. Elize was also considered to replace Tarja when she left NW, but Tuomas thought she was too young and inexperienced at the time. A few recommendations for Amaranthe to get you started. the Nexus, Drop Dead Cynical, Helix, Viral (just dropped like a week ago), Digital World, GG6, 365, or why not power ballad type hit Amaranthine. Or amazing ballad Endlessly, played and video recorded at lead guitarist Olof Mörck's wedding in Romania.

I'm one of the lucky ones, who've got to see these both bands, playing this song together on stage in Oslo, Norway. It was the last show of the European tour (Great tour). I was standing right in front of the stage!😄🤘 Awesome show! Amaranthe was the first band playing, followed by amazing Apocalyptica (how the 'heck' do they make those cellos sound like screaming guitars!?😄). The main act was Sabaton and awesome is not enough to describe it!🤘😄

Seen Amaranthe a few times (alongside Sabaton on The Great War Tour). One of the singers in this video, man who is not growling, is a singer in another swedish power metal band Dynazty.

I gotta say, I find the Amaranthe version tighter, and it's a close race! And I don't think anyone would blame you for developing an ever so slight crush on Elize Ryd, she's absolutely amazing.
Seeing they are from my hometown, I had the opportunity to go listen to an acoustic jam by them at a local record store - they've all got talent! Bit softer style than Sabaton in general, but there's more than enough room for both of them!

After that Amaranthe "Amaranthine" Scandinavia has some great power rock band all from old days of Europe to Nightwish, Sabaton and Volbeat end of 90's up to date. BUT still waiting on Screaming Eagles official video reaction and think your son will love that one to, my favorit song of Sabaton ;-)

Dude! If you havent heard Van Canto yet (a German a cappella metal band and composed of six singers and a drummer) I would recommend "Van Canto - Primo victoria (sabaton cover)" with Joakim! It's something special ;) Badaboom! They have other covers and their own songs too but I think its a nice gateway to their other songs!

Although I like Amaranthe and they did a great job on this cover I can't get away from Sabaton. This song really needs the rough vocals of Joakim.
Either way Amaranthe is a great band. Love the vocals of Elize and the fact they have 3 lead singers, a great and clear female voice, a clear male rock voice and the amazing growls make them unique. With this 3 voices they mix metal with electronic music and so create their own sound.
Their newest Song is called Viral and was released about a week ago. You also should check out The Nexus or Hunger from them.

I love both versions! Amaranthe is definitely worth checking out more from. They just released a new song called Viral and they have a new album coming later this summer. For other songs worth checking out with the current band lineup: Helix, Countdown, GG6, 365. An older one that is very good is Drop Dead Cynical. Elize shines on all of these, I really love her in combination with the 2 guys and their different styles. Her harmonies with Nils are incredible and give me chills, and the contrast between her and Henrik growling is just awesome.

Was going to see Amaranthe at this summers sweden rock festival and they where one of the highlights for me but sadly corona stopped that but hey will get my chance to see them live. And have a ticket for sabaton for their sweden tour this winter so can't wait for the.
Also favorite Amaranthe song is hard to pick but i would probably go with Maximize, don't know why but i find it impossible to not jam along to it.

I think you will like songs like " "Dead Drop Cynical, "Boomerang", "Maximize" and "Helix" from Amaranthe. But they really have ALOT!!! of good songs . By the way. Amaranthes new album "Manifest" is coming out octobre 2nd...make sure to listening in to them way before octobre....because I think you will like them alot too as I seem to have a very similar taste like you have :-) Just like Sabatons releases , I want to follow Amaranthes release live! Elize Ryd (and alicia white gluz) and was saving Nightwishes asses in the famous "Denver Debacle". When Nightwish 2 hours before the concert stood without a singer. In 2 hours those lovely ladies learned songs and performed for the crowd in a combination of concert and crowd singalong.
That concert would have been a real once in a life time to attend

I love both the original and Amaranthes cover, but judging by my most played songs of 2020 on Spotify, Amaranthe takes it (it was number 1 on that list), it's just more of a headbanger than the original! Other great songs by them are Fearless, Arch Angel, Viral, The nexus, Drop dead cynical.... The list goes on and on, fantastic band in my opinion, have all their autographs aswell as Sabatons on my fridge!

Sabaton is not playing politics, but certain people sure like to pester them with political questions.
I remember the first time hearing about Sabaton was actually from someone sharing an article in the major Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter. The paper threw a hissy fit because Sabaton had released an album about former Swedish King Karl XII (Latin: Carolus Rex), because Karl XII also happen to be a favorite among Swedish neo-nazis.
The paper tried to smear them and asked them if they weren't afraid of being seen as nationalists or neo-nazis. The band countered that they were history buffs, nothing else. Given that this paper is one of the standard-bearers for political correctness in Sweden, and thus should not be taken too seriously, I was not scared off but decided to check their back catalog.
And the band's retort turned out to be true. Already back then they had several albums, eg Primo Victoria and The Art of War. And the music was great.
They are amazing.

I really like Amaranthe's music as well... but here Sabaton takes it by a mile in my opinion. "It might be because I'm so used to the Sabaton version, or it might be three voices that seems jarring on this song (it works great on their own stuff though) or the electronic backtrack, but for me it misses the goal for me.
BTW: I think you are ready for a bit of Sabaton's darker side... They had a big controversy when this came out and people didn't know exactly what the band was doing and thought they were promoting nazi ideals, but the song is brilliant. You have a long line ahead of you in regards being enamored with Elize Ryd. Amaranthe is one of my top bands to listen to. I'm putting them up there with Nightwish and Within Temptation. Not saying any are better than the others as they have different styles. But Amaranthe, with their three vocalist bring something to music that not many bands do. And the groups instrumental's are fantastic. My favorite song with them is Drop Dead Cynical, but you can't really go wrong with any of their songs (Helix, 365, Inferno, Maximize, and on, and on, and on).
I can't wait to get in deeper with this band

On another note; have you heard about the band called Apocalyptica? Joakim (Sabaton's vocalist) made a song with them called "Live or die". The Sabaton guys also has an old friend they tour with nationally who goes by the name of Hulkoff. Joakim features in one of his songs called "Ibor and Aio".

It all comes down to preference. If you like hard rock but nothing harsh, Sabatons the way to go. If you like more metal, Amaranthes is the perfect mix of cleans and growls. Personally, Amaranthe wins it for me but I get the people who say Sabaton. Either way an amazing song

This song(either version) is the most American thing to come out of Sweden...
I will always prefer Amaranthe cover, as it was the first thing I heard from them, and fell in love with them... They have such a weird concept(this... electropoppy metal with switching from Elize's melodic metal vocals, Nils' power metal to Henrik's metal core/death metal) that should not work but does and does so damn well.

Too bad that this is some of the best Amaranthe songs and it's a cover. Their first two albums are good but later they have too much basic modern pop influence in her vocal melodies and style. The first two had more 90's vibe that I liked! So some recommendations: Call Out My Name, Nexus, Amaranthine, Razorblade.

@@PositiveCrunch yeah that was the so called "Denver Debacle" (or Denver Miracle depending on how you look at it) when Nightwish former singer Anette got ill during the opening act Kamelot. Instead of cancelling the show Elize and Alissa White-Gluz (currently in Arch Enemy) who where touring with Kamelot stepped up and did the vocals. Anette only did one more show after that before Floor came along. Elize also tried out for Nightwish when Tarja left them, but they went with Annette because she had more experience.
You ought to go down the Amaranthe rabbit hole for a while. I like to joke that if Abba and Black Sabbath got together and had a love child it would be Amaranthe!

That is really difficult one. I way prefer Joachim´s baritone over Eric´s screams. But somehow I thing musically Manowar is probably better. I am back and forth. One day I like Manowar´s original more, the other day I like Sabaton´s cover more.
sabatons version is just simple and clean. it what i rly like about their version. but amaranthes version is not bad at all.
amaranthe is a rly good band. ive listened to them since their first album released in 2011. they have a few songs that i think is gonna blow you away. i recommend hunger, amaranthine, the nexus or drop dead cynical next. they are all brilliant

Also, Sabaton and Amaranthe DO have a concert where they both play this song on stage at the same time as a duet. React to it. Also if you want to do the best cover song of ALL TIME. React to Shinedown's version of Simple Man. Simply put it is better than Lynyrd Skynyrd's version.

@@PositiveCrunch a quick synopsis, Jake E. was a founding member and left in '16 after having a lesser role writing and the harsh vocalist Henrick had just joined prior to the Nexus and is still with Amaranth. Nils is the new clean male vocalist since Jake E left and was on the last full cd and the New video released last week for Viral. The guitars and composition is Olof Morck and is a founder , And the beautiful and talented Elize Ryd is a founder and also joins Kamalot alot 🤘💜🤘 also Amaranthe is Swedish.

I think you should check out Arch Enemy if you have not done it before as it is a Swedish band that has a good female singer and the previous one was also good so check out Nemmesis from both 2008 and 2016 and you will see the difference between them but it there are many good songs by them like "the world is yours".
Their former has also been part of another Swedish group that released that song at the beginning of the year called Do or Die by Amaranthe

So, this is just my opinion of course, but I think the version by Amaranthe is simply better. They do more in the song and they have more, and in my opinion better singers.

I think Joakim's voice is a perfect fit for Sabaton and the Material at hand. So I am a Fan. That being said, I also enjoyed all 3 of Amaranthe's Singers. In the end it is all perspective and what fits your ear sonically. Iron Maiden for instance, Though Paul Di'Anno was a great singer, I was never a fan of his Iron Maiden stuff as it lacked the total Power and atmosphere Bruce Brought. All Perspective.
