Thanks for sharing your feedback. I have the Urban Explorer (UE) 25L but also own the 30L and 35L Explorer V2 and the 35L Explorer V1 and they are all a little bit different with their strengths and weaknesses. In reality I don’t think the UE is really thought out for carrying extra cloths items like the others are but that’s just my opinion. Anyway, there are many bags, of which I even own more of because everyone want something different. Take care.

I’m thinking of getting this pack and your review is super helpful, thank you. On storage, have you tried the small DSLR core unit? I think it would suit the side access better because its opening is only the size of the camera so less wasted space. If you only use one or two, that would free up more space in the back for clothes etc. That’s what I’m tempted to do but I only have a one camera one lens set up so I don’t need much space and prefer to have room for layers, food etc when hiking.

I have looked at other cubes to put in the bag, but they were not in supply when I checked a few months ago, maybe they are in stock now. I don't think any other cube would work with side access because the flaps of the cube and the flaps on the pack must match to make that work. I would like to try a smaller cube to reduce the amount of camera gear storage and increase "daily" carry storage.

Hi Adam! Can the 25L or 30L fit a thick laptop in an EVA case? Mine is an ASUS TUF 15.6 gaming laptop at 3cm Thickness that I put in an EVA case for additional protection with 4.5cm thickness when the laptop is inside. Im just curious because most of my camera bags will fit my laptop but with the hardshell eva case then it wont fit anymore. Im a casual gamer and have mirrorless camera gears and a small drone when I travel. Laptop EVA case with Laptop inside Dimensions are: Length 28cm x Width 4.5cm x Height 49cm. Hope you can answer. Thank you!

Not sure about the 25 but the back panel is fairly spacious for a laptop on the 30. I can easily fit my 15 MacBook Air in there with plenty of width to spare. I don’t want to say for certain..maybe Shimoda would have some good info on their website

@@hasenmyer Hi Andrew. Thank you very much for your response. I appreciate it. I might buy the back in a few days to test it out. I might return it though if doesn't fit my needs. Seems like a cool looking backpack. I have the Lowepro protactic bp 450 aw ii but it's too bulky for me and there is no 50/50 separation. I prefer to use the upper compartment for my personal stuff.

@@sanghuloom6943 yes I had the 450aw and the main reason I don’t use it anymore is because the lack of alternative storage..may check out a wandrd or the element both with roll top designs I have reviews of both on my channel, unfortunately I don’t know much about different windows computers as I primarily use MAC

The side access really suck, even for my explorer v2, why it cannot be bigger?

I think it may be a design challenge. If you really need a HUGE side access look at the Compagnon element backpack, you can drive a truck through the side access. I have a review on it

Every single one of your gripes are the same ones that I have. That front pocket is pretty much useless, too deep and too flat to be taken seriously. The top compartment is too small (i bought the 20 liter). The side access is only good for a small mirrorless, I tried it with a Canon 80D and I couldn't get it out. The rain cover storage is in the worst possible place, if it is already raining you'll have to expose your gear to the rain just to get it out and storing it out of the camera area it then eats up some of the precious storage space that is needed for your bits and pieces. The bag is comfortable and it'll carry your gear but in general I consider it a fail.

the most amusing with these comments is that these guys will never ever even invent a thing but can complain about BS, just for some likes.

True, I will probably never invent my own backpack, but I think videos pointing out certain flaws helps people in their buying decisions and helps companies improve on future design. I think it's a great backpack overall.
